Pier 88 prices include corn and potatoes as well as allowing for substitutes or additions with hard boiled eggs. I've gone to crab n spice as well as Rolling Crab and I think the flavor of what I got at Pier 88 is the closest I would say I am familiar with and the flavor profile that I enjoy. Had to pay extra for lemons to go but it makes sense.

More concerning, however, was a serious issue regarding safety and how my family--particularly my child--was treated by staff. During our visit, my toddler was standing next to her high chair when employees were running through the restaurant. One employee fell and immediately blamed my child for the incident. I was present and witnessed the situation clearly. My child was approximately four feet away and was not involved in any way. The employee tripped on her own, yet responsibility was placed on my child. If the placement of a high chair in that area posed a concern, it should not have been offered or placed there to begin with. At no point did any staff member, including the manager, ask if my child was okay (especially since they thought she was tripped over) Instead, blame was directed towards my toddler, which made me feel unwelcome and judged for simply dining with a baby. Also if she really was tripped over- they did not care about her at all. This shows: THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THEIR GUESTS. A server came up to us and expressed how she was the blame despite not seeing what had happened. These employees are running up and down. That is why she tripped. This is my my toddler (thankfully) was not harmed. I hope the waitress is okay though, clearly this company does not care about safety much- as she kept working after. We spent over $150 during this visit, and the overall experience left me feeling that this establishment is not family-friendly. This is particularly disappointing, as families should feel safe and respected while dining. Due to this experience, we will not be returning, and I will be sharing this feedback with all friends and family. I hope this matter is taken seriously and addressed appropriately to prevent similar situations in the future. Maybe a training on where to put high chairs, how not to run in an establishment, and how to speak with respect towards others would be a good start.

Baracoa Cuban Restaurant was an amazing discovery when we stopped for a lunch pitstop on our drive…read moreup towards Tehachapi. I can easily see them being a favorite in the Palmdale area. There was plenty of parking in this lot. The entrance is located through their patio, which can be a bit counter intuitive. We came at opening and the restaurant got really busy during our time there. Initially we were looking at the sandwiches because it was lunch time, but then we were going to a wedding that night so we decided to eat something more filling since the ceremony and speeches always delay the eating. All entrees here are served with black beans and rice or congri, and 3 fried plantains. My boyfriend had the Ropa Vieja ($28) with the congri and I had the Lechon Asado ($25) with the rice and beans. Our food came out pretty fast after we ordered. My boyfriend's Ropa Vieja is a Cuban braised beef. The congri is basically a mix of the rice and beans. This dish was super tasty and the shredded beef was so tender with the bell peppers and onions. I can really taste the red wine and tomato sauce in the base. I took a few bites but in general I preferred my dish more, and vis versa he enjoyed his dish more. My lechon asado is a roasted pork that is super super tenderrrrrr. It was so sweet with the grilled onions and it had the perfect amount of fattiness without being over bearing. SO GOOD! Love the plaintains too. I'm glad I got the rice and beans option because I would have gotten too full too quick with the congri. I barely touched my beans and only got through half of my rice. Both dishes came with this super tasty garlic butter sauce that I poured on my rice and made it even tastier. It was so good. One thing I didn't enjoy about the experience was the flies attacking us and our food. Since the door is open and connected to their outdoor space, it leaves the opportunities for flies to come in. We had to play defense with the flies the whole time. The service here is a little slow. Especially when I was trying to get back on the road I wasn't feeling too patient. I waived down multiple staff members too. Also I got hit with an undisclosed 3% surcharge for using my credit card. I only found out after I got the receipt. I would have paid in cash if I knew. *dislike* LOVE LOVE LOVE the food. Might be the best Cuban food I've ever had... and I've been to Florida where there was a lot of Cuban spots. Room for improvement with service, flies prevention, and the disclosure of the credit card fee.

The food quality is spectacular! I always get the Baracoa Cubano sandwich and it never disappoints. The ingredients are fresh and organic with each dish I've ordered. Since I have allergies to ingredients used to preserve frozen food, it's always been so hard finding a restaurant with a menu that doesn't cause me issues--and Baracoa has never compromised with their ingredients! The organic quality of their food is something you'll taste on your first bite. And finally--the service is impeccable and I have yet to see such excellent hospitality at any restaurant I've visited, even in Los Angeles! The waiters are always kind, attentive, and energetic with their behavior and service. It's very easy to tell they love the work they do and it shows in their work ethic. In addition to that, the managers are always making sure we're having an excellent night and have transformed it to a level of service we've never seen! My parents and I went a week ago and talked to Daniel the Manager about how much we missed a Piña Colada from a closed restaurant which would make it in the pineapple itself--and he said if we promised to be there in a week he's make it himself. We came on Friday, and the joy that my family felt was palpable when Daniel came out with the drinks we've wished for years now since that restaurant closed! Honestly, I've never heard of someone caring for their guests so much to do that--truly everyone should visit this establishment and experience true fine dining. I don't think I'll ever eat anywhere else for a special occasion ever again.

I honestly wanted to leave, but my kids wanted to stay. I had them look at the claw machines until we were ready to be taken to our seats. Some of the staff continued to openly argue in the dining area during the remainder of our time there. We arrived around noon, and the food selection was okay. Some items were sitting in the pans for so long that they became soggy or chewy. The tempura shrimp tasted really good when it first came out, but when I went to get some for my dad they were very hard to eat. I wish the selection was a little broader, as it is mainly seafood. None of the items were labeled. The younger lady that was making rounds to clear plates from tables was pleasant and really the only positive part of our first time experience here.. I would like to give this place a try again to hopefully have a better experience.

So why the mixed reviews? Let me break it down for you, as I've been there for both lunch and…read moredinner. SERVICE: The main lady, who I'm assuming is the manager, has an unusual seating arrangement system. When you get there and pay, the cashier will tell you it's a 10-minute wait. Meanwhile, no one else is in the lobby waiting, and the interior of the restaurant isn't busy. The main lady is the one who seats you. The service staff is nice, but they are not "on top of it." The servers don't ask if you want drink refills. You have to tell them. They are literally there to pick up your plates and bring you drinks. Also, the poor things don't even have trays to carry the drinks. They always look miserable, like they're working a 16-hour shift but are only halfway through the lunch rush. None of them are mean; they just always look so exhausted. Additionally, the main lady doesn't speak kindly to the wait staff. She constantly seems angry at them. FOOD: They do offer a lot of variety of sushi, sashimi, korean bbq, hot foods such as a full ham, a full beef, fried fish, seafood boils, beef and broccoli, and their infamous coconut shrimp. All very tasty dishes. The hot food is hot and the cold food is cold, but they have a lot of violations reference: http://publichealth.lacounty.gov/eh/i-want-to/view-inspection-results.htm scroll to "Inspection Results", then type in "Luck Buffet" to review their food handling and temperatures. Again the food is good and tasty, but it comes with a price. The sushi is not sitting on refrigeration or ice, so any of the raw fish does not hold a temperature of 41 degrees or less. The same goes for the salad bar area, where at night they have raw oysters and cooked shrimp. The oysters had ice all around them, but according to the health inspection, their refrigeration unit is not up to standard and is not elevated off the floor. Their raw fish is also not stored properly while waiting to be made into sushi. It's just "under the counter." Similar violations were noted for their raw chicken and various other products containing cooked fish. All of this is to say that it doesn't matter how they present it; it's not at the right temperatures by the time it reaches your plate. OVERALL: I had a great time on Valentine's Day with my husband. I had been wanting to try this place for dinner for quite some time, and we didn't want a fussy, overpriced Valentine's dinner. This place seemed like a great option. I had eaten there a month prior for lunch for the first time, and it was nice, but I didn't have any of the additional items they served for dinner. This time, they had all the options available, and it seemed nice; however, within 24 hours, I became violently ill from food poisoning, and my husband just wasn't feeling great either. I suffered for four days with fevers, rashes, and everything expelling from my body. When I looked up their infractions, it suddenly made sense. The choice, and the risk, is ultimately yours!

I'm probably the one that made them almost go bankrupt. When I heard the special was back until the end of June, we decided to come in since it's been many years. After eating about eight shrimp, I realized we no longer eat like this anymore. I was so full. At the $40 price point, we definitely did not get our money's worth. My husband felt the same way, stuffed. Our days of eating mass consumption are over. The waitress was efficient keeping our drinks filled. I would return for a smaller meal. 5/29/26

The restaurant was surprisingly empty for a Sunday night, which immediately stood out. After looking at the menu, it became clear why. All the familiar deals we used to enjoy are gone, and most of the options now feel pretty expensive, a lot of dishes are over $30. It doesn't quite match what you expect from Red Lobster, and I can see why business might be struggling. We ordered the "Crab Your Way" and a Caesar salad with chicken, and the total came out to around $70. Nothing really stood out in terms of quality or experience to justify the price. Glad we gave it a try, but we probably won't be going back anytime soon.
