This is one of my family's favorite places to go. The staff is sooo nice, the owner is amazing and such a great guy. The food is literally so juicy and fresh. This review is based on the bbq chicken/short ribs combo and cheese wontons. Overall, I was very impressed! I really wanted some Ono's but there isn't any in town so I was hoping Ahi was just as good. I was so happy that the short ribs were tender and juicy! I was craving some Hawaiian BBQ, and decided to check out a local spot here in the AV area. My sister wanted me to try this spot particularly because it is one of her guilty pleasures and the portions/taste here is amazing. She's been here a couple of times. It was my first time coming, and I love how they have COVID protocols in place. The cashier and the front counter has a clear plastic barrier in place. The sauces were available in single packets, however certain sauces were unfortunately not already packed like the hot sauces. If you feel comfortable, they do have the small containers you can use to pour the hot sauce. Ordering here was fast and efficient. We came here around 12ish during the weekend. We got our meal in less than 20 minutes, and bounced back to my place. My sister and I ordered the #3 BBQ Mix and the #4 Seafood Mix. The portion was a bit disappointing because they skimped out on giving out more of the entree. The #3 BBQ Mix wasn't too obvious though because they did provide 3 meats of each, and the pieces were big. However... the #4 Seafood Mix was a completely opposite. They really gave me soo little meat. Some of the pieces they gave were so small like the size of a nugget from McDonald. It did not look like the picture on display on their menu. I was expecting bigger pieces but everything about this meal was lackluster. Also, wanted to express some concerns over the food burning through the plastic container. If you look at the picture attached, the #4 Seafood Mix show that the plastic container looks melted. That's not safe. I would recommend they put a foil wrap because I have seen certain restaurant do that with their fried food. This would prevent the burning. Anyhow, the food was decent and the portion was lackluster. I'll have to come and give them a try next time again because my sister vouches that I probably caught them at a bad time. This wasn't my number one choice for dinner while I was visiting the area for a single night but I'm glad that the food wasn't half bad. No, really, the food was good. Am I right or am I right when I say that a poorly cooked batch of rice can ruin the whole meal? I enjoyed the chicken. It didn't even need sauce or anything. The restaurant itself was nice and clean. Our order was made quickly but the person behind the plexiglass did forget one thing. She forgot that we'd ordered drinks. It was a passionfruit slush and a spring peach slush. So, after we'd received our food portion of our order we waited inside of the store for our drinks. The lady behind the plexiplastic, I should say, tried to be polite in reminding us that there was no possibility for dine in and that's when we had to remind her that we were waiting for the rest of our order. She acted like she didn't know what we were referring to but after our reminding her, he felt a bit bad. She made the other customer who was in the midst of ordering her food wait to complete her order and made our drinks. Unfortunately the drinks weren't made with fresh fruit and instead were made with powders and concentrates. The spring peach slush was interesting and was definitely artificially flavored. The passionfruit was tart, just like I like it. I feel absolutely bad for writing this and I can't believe they have high ratings.... First the positives: 1. Covid 19 protection in place 2. Clean 3. They give you a lot of rice 4. Pot Stickers are good 5. Cabbage is steamed 6. They have good smoothies Negatives: 1. The bbq Beef does not taste like Hawaiian BBQ Beef, it taste like boiled beef sliced up into little perfect squares like gourmet dog food. The texture is soft like boiled meat. It's pretty gross. It taste like it comes from a can. 2. The Katsu chick is just ok.... no flavor and very thin ... I can't even be sure it's chicken. But it's crunchy :-) 3. The are higher priced than the other Hawaiian chains. Maybe hummm I think. 4. Sad to say the Hawaiian BBQ on 10th street West Palmdale is wayyyyy better and still #1 but they don't give you as much rice. 5. The Hawaiian BBQ 10th street West Lancaster is the second best as far as Flavor. But they too don't give you as much rice. 6.
