I learned about Bicycle Discovery by searching for In Store Locations of a specific bike on Electra Bikes. With so many things being able to purchase online these days & most bike shops transitioning to Electric Bikes, I was glad to find a local small business bike shop that I could see & test ride bikes and ask questions from bicycle experts! I wanted a cruiser with multiple gears that could handle flat rides & hills, be light enough that I could carry up stairs, & support a front basket or back rack. David helped me out tonight & he was truly such a help, spending around 1 hour with me pulling the two bikes I was looking at for me to test ride, answering questions, & looking parts up. David gave shared so much knowledge & pros/cons about each of the two bikes. I ended up purchasing the Electra Loft 7D Step Thru in a beautiful "sangria" color, yay! The bike was priced the same online shops I had seen when doing my research prior, so I was so happy to support a small business and have my bike ready to go (built)! I bought a back rack too & learned about MIK rack/basket technology for locking a basket onto a rack. Since I bought the back rack there, they offered to install it, which was great! I would have figured out how to install it, but I knew the experts would get it right & much faster than myself! After purchasing, I found out that a bike purchase at Bicycle Discovery comes with 2 tune ups in the first year of ownership, which they list as a $200 value. I will definitely be using the tune ups! I've gone to this location, maybe five times over the past 10 years but wanted to leave a review this time. I was trying to shop local for an E bike that would fit my family's needs so I thought of this place first because I had originally bought a beach cruiser and had a couple of tune ups done on that same bike. All of my experiences had been positive and that's why I went back. This time I wanted to mention the integrity and expertise of one of the workers there. After explaining my needs and wants he ended up mentioning a different type of bike that they didn't sell. I did research into the bike both the original one he said and dupes they have online and it looks like that one will fit my family's needs. WARNING: DONT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF AND TREATED LIKE GARBAGE I've never left a review for a place before nor have I ever really had the desire to. That being said, I've never in my life felt so disrespected in a retail environment where customer service should be a core value. I came in to see if something could be done about a flat tire / hole in my tire. The service tech was incredibly rude and condescending, acting as if I committed a crime by making him do his job. The whole time he looked at the bike he was telling me how he should've turned me away because of how my ebike is setup. Well then all you had to do was nicely turn me away. Finally he calls another service tech over who seemed much nicer and agreed to do the job. The cost for putting a $20 tube in the tire was $100 which to me is kinda outrageous and I also saw much lower prices advertised elsewhere after the fact. Had I not been so taken aback and surprised from this guys behavior I would have just walked out the door. At least now I know to never come back to this place. read more

I have been a good customer for over a year since moving here from Tahoe. The efforts of the good staff here get obliterated by "Grumpy Old Dave" and his rude manners, condescending attitude and comments as well as his refusal to take responsibility for his mistakes. I had came in the other day to browse through some of their road bicycle options. I saw that they were selling vintage 2005 Trek Madones for like 2500 USD. The worst part was the guy showing me around spoke to me for less than a minute and twice I could hear him saying "I'm not really a road bicycle guy, more a mountain bicycle guy". I have no idea why these off the cuff remarks are being presented when it has nothing to do with what I'm here for. I have come here several times in the past for parts and accessories and the staff has always been snobby and condescending, especially the old boomers who I suspect are borderline racists. Was looking to get back into biking after 10+ years off and was pleasantly surprised by the amazing customer service I got here. George was incredibly helpful. He showed me different types of bikes for the riding I was considering, and also took the time to help me with finding the best accessories such as helmets, lights, etc. I didn't feel rushed at all or pressured to buy anything, nor did it feel like he was just trying to make a sale. I came in to get my old bike a total uplift and get it to 100% working, after being in the shop for 2 months, they said it was ready to pick up, $600 dollars later i started riding the bike (maybe 5 miles max) and the crank fell off, supposedly they "didn't replace it" and it was "loosened?". thankfully they fixed it on the spot with no extra charge and it started to work again- up until i tried shifting into first gear where they said "oh that's normal" but was indeed not normal. read more

My wife wanted to tune up her bicycle that has been hanging in our garage for the last 40 years before giving it to our 8-year-old granddaughter. Took it to Bicycle Discovery this morning. Desiree greeted us and assured us that it could be fine-tuned by their service department. We were prepared to leave it there for up to two weeks. Dave put it up on a rack right away and started to check it, lubricate and tighten various parts. He then told my wife that the bike was in working condition and did not require any additional work. We were told that the service was free when I asked for the bill. I was totally and pleasantly surprised that a neighbor business still takes care of their customers so quickly and at no charge in our case. This just does not happen in this day and age. Everyone there is moody. Saw these people reply to someone else about David not working with them in a couple days, and When I arrive, (9 months after the review) David is there and calls some stuff on my bike a knockoff. Everyone there is depressed, moody, and has a bad attitude. Guy said that it would've been ready today, and when we give them a call they say they haven't even started on it. They even give us a remark and say that they would've called us when they were done. $55 to refill my bike with mineral oil, so price is a little bit high but whatever. Please don't come here as nobody wants to help you. The old guy even had a bit of attitude. As an avid cyclist at various times in my life, my first encounter with Bicycle Discovery was a happy coincidence. I had intended to go to a well known Specialist Retail Chain, and had come upon by accident. After being ignored by the Specialty Chain, I left there discouraged, and on a whim stopped into Bicycle Discovery. (BD) I was greeted warmly, and after being shown a variety of bicycles by a genuinely warm and friendly sales person, I left with a good idea of the kind of bike I wanted. Initially, I had walked in thinking I wanted a mountain bike. Rather than pressuring me the BD, took the time to demonstrate the differences between road, mountain and hybrid style bikes, tgeirvride characteristics, pros and cons for each type as well as good, better, and best options. I returned the nextvday and bought their top of the line hybrid. Fast forward 25 years, I returned to BD, and was delighted to see that they were still in bus, and thriving whereas the Specialty store had gone out of business, most likely a victim of their arrogance and poor service. Not only is BD a great service resource, their repair prices range about 20-40 percent less than comporable prices from Cista Mesa, and Newport Beach Bicycle shops. While I was buying a bike I asked him if he owned the place and he said he used to own a couple other bike shops and "kicked the owner of Bicycle Discovery's ass". Sean also said he just got tired of the stress and closed his shops and went to work here (Bicycle Discovery). Sean wasn't finished either. Been meaning to write this review for a month now. THANK YOU BICYCLE DISCOVERY! My husband purchased us bikes for Christmas and put a baby seat on mine for our toddler. He also purchased our daughter a helmet from here and we've ridden over 30 miles as a family already. He put a down payment on a bike in September of 2020 only for the other company he paid to push back his pick up date TWICE so by December of 2021 we happened inside Bicycle Discovery and what do you know, they had the NEWER version of the bike he ordered and the perfect bike for me and the baby. He purchased a black Trek dual sport 4 2021 and he bought me a sky blue Electra 7 speed cruiser! We are getting every penny out of these items and super grateful to ride as a family. It was really busy and they only had about 2-3 workers there so I didn't mind that I wasn't immediately acknowledged. I took my full suspension bike in to get my rear brake bled because the lever pulled almost all the way down to the bar. I also had them switch the internal cable routing of the rear brake from the right side of the frame to the left side. The maintenance itself took two days to complete. When I went to pick up my bike, I noticed that the brake lever felt good and the cable was routed properly. There was noticeable mineral oil on the brake lever, cables, and chainstay. I was annoyed that they didn't re-secure the brake cable to the frame with zip ties. As far as the service I originally took my bike in for, I was quite satisfied and would have given them 4*. However, when I went to ride my bike home, both my front and rear brakes squealed like an air horn. It was so loud that cars were stopping because they could hear me coming. I took my bike back to the shop and told them about the brake squeal. The technician wouldn't even let me finish explaining what I noticed or that I thought he might have contaminated the pads or rotor. He just kept saying that he'll fix it. About 20 minutes later, he brought the bike back out and asked me to test ride it. No change. He worked on it again for another 20 minutes when one of the other techs test rode the bike and noted the same thing. I told them to keep it overnight to fix the issue since it was close to closing. I didn't hear anything from them about the status of my bike until I called them a couple of days later. Ultimately, it took them an additional 7 days to get my bike back to me. All they did was add some Squeal Gone cream to the pads and rotors. While on the test ride, the bike didn't squeal like before, but I felt that the bike wasn't stopping nearly as well as before. The brakes started squealing again after riding it and bedding in the brakes for about 15 minutes. I decided to order replacement brakes and rotors online since I was headed to Snow Summit that weekend and needed brakes that worked. I didn't want to deal with them again because they probably would have just put more cream on the brakes and said it was fine. My $60 relatively standard maintenance ended up costing me an extra $100 to replace my pads and rotors because they probably contaminated them when they bled my brakes. To add insult to injury, my bike is only four months old and the pads and rotors had plenty of life on them. read more

I took my bike in for a tuneup on Monday the tech I spoke with was great. I was told should be done by Friday. The following Tuesday I call for an update, I spoke to David, he was annoyed that I was asking, rudely said I we didn't call you it's not ready. When I mentioned Friday, he said no I never give a completion day, basically calling me a lier,I talked to the manager who wasn't surprised by David's actions, and basically he wouldn't be working there in a couple of days anyway. read more
