The food was so very good! The friend fish had great tenderness and flavor and the salad was super fresh. My shrimp with Blanca sauce was so cheesy and creamy with bits of garlic and butter. So delicious! The waitress was kind and tried to speak English for us Southern Hillbillies. The decor was a bit dated but we were so busy enjoying amazing food it didn't matter. Great Puerto Rican food. Although Mexican seems to be all the rage across the island, this place has fantastic mofungo (we had it with crispy pork), rice and beans, and a solid grouper ceviche. Service can be a bit brusque, but probably not too surprising in a place that can be overwhelmed with tourists. read more

Unfortunately we had the coconut rice which was like the coconut rice you get with mango and rice dessert in a Thai restaurant, it was a bit undercooked but good flavor. The 3 meat trio was basically rice, don't expect much meat, maybe 2 ounces and like 3 cups of rice that was not good. So disappointed read more

Tried the churrasco (skirt steak)-soo good and very well seasoned, the shrimp mofongo (seasoned plantain mix with shrimp) - needed more garlic in my opinion, but good regardless, guava pork chops with rice and red beans-delicious, chicharrón de pollo (fried chicken chunks) with cilantro rice - chicken has great flavor but slightly overcooked causing it to be a bit dry, the rice-superb! It's really a good restaurant. We were waiting and owner told us we have to wait since the peak time. But was surprised is that we only wait a couple minutes and we got our food. We came to this small bistro at 3:00PM. We ordered one seafood fried rice, one grouper curry or something. They were pretty good. For the fried rice, there were lots of seafood mixed in. For the curry, it was sweet and the grouper was tender. The thing I don't like about this place is their food was too salty and the service was not really good. read more

Chef Sonia and her team recently catered dinner for my family each night of a week-long vacation. They made a delicious meals every night, each one different from the last. 5 of 5 stars for the food alone. It's worth noting that the shopping situation on the island is such that a tourist may have trouble getting all the ingredients for their own recipes. So having Chef Sonia bring her full stock of herbs, spices and ingredients each night lifted what would have been a major logistical stress point on our trip. That's worth an extra star, so 6 of 5 stars for Biekes Bistro. But wait! You should have seen the way Chef Sonia interacted with the kids! My children were so in love with her by the 3rd day, and the last couple of days she even set up a part of the meal for them to help make - they're 7 so we're talking about assembling and decorating desserts - complete with bringing little aprons for them to wear. They had such fun and it was another special part of our vacation. 2 more stars for Biekes Bistro! Final score: 8 of 5 stars!!! read more

Nestled in a little strip of shops, they have a menu of items you expect to see in most PR restaurants plus a few specialties. Go early for dinner - they fill up with tourists quickly and they are on island time so be patient. The Brazilian Grouper in sauce and the Coconut Rice were the most popular dishes in our table. Not sure why that Coconut Rice was so good - probably because it is what it says it is and is a simple dish with some sneaky hot habanero sauce on the side. Fish tacos and steak tacos were a devoured by the teens before I had a chance to steal a bite. Churrasco was good but the taste was a bit off - tasted like fish was cooked on the grill right beside it. Overall everyone left full and happy. read more

We ordered two specials of the day: fried fish tail and a... steak/beef dish (it's not written on the menu). I do not recommend the steak dish at all - it's overcooked, hard to chew, and so salty. However, the fried fish tail is great and the best thing about Bieke's is the hot sauce! They make their own and it goes amazing with the fried fish tail. If it didn't have to be refrigerated the whole time, I would definitely buy a bottle and take it with me. On a downside, the service is SO SLOW. I was there for about 2-3 hours... mainly just waiting for my food. It felt like there was one stove top and one chef... the other customers in the restaurant were clearly waiting for a long time as well. read more

There is no atmosphere, the outside space is the same as inside- a dump. From the looks of this place, it should be cheap but it's actually extremely expensive. Coconut veggie rice was super sweet, almost no veggies and pretty disgusting. The garlic shrimp was a joke, 6 tiny shrimp floating in a bath of grease at $30. We live in NYC and we travel a lot so we've seen some crazy prices but this is unjustifiable on every level. There also chicken parm close to $30 per plate and some other crappy dishes. I'm sorry to our servers, they were sweet but this place really got under my skin. Go to malecon - eat at the touristy places but with a beach view n great delicious options, such as Bili. In a little unasumming area (Isabel II), worked into a small "shopping center" sits this little gem. We were recommended this place as a nice quiet, small and flavor packed place to grab some lunch away from the hotel. This place was a bit of an anomaly as it was a bistro/wine bar/coffee shop/restaurant/dessert spot...it had its own vibe, which I will say was a slow one. Not a lot of action in this place. Only one person working the bar and dining area and it seemed to only be one in the kitchen who ran out from time to time to grab another ingredient needed. The girl at the bar was very nice and at least acknowledged the slow service and ensure we had drinks, which made it fine...we were on vacation, so sweating wait times was something I wasnt about to do! I see a few reviews calling out the slow service of this place, and while I can agree that the service was slower than we are accustomed to, I didnt mind the wait for the food as I was served quality, homemade and hot food upon delivery to the table...I was a little jealous upon leaving as I saw a chicken parm-ish dish that looked like pure bliss. Our family really enjoyed the casual atmosphere and free WiFi. We enjoyed fish tacos, coconut rice, chicken mofungo, & carnitas mofungo. This was our first experience with mofungo and we absolutely loved it. We'll be going back for more, even though the service was efficient but not exactly friendly. We would give the food five stars. Whoa, un problema en la cocina! We came in for a late lunch shortly after 3, as our first meal in vieques. I get it was an odd time of day, even though the restaurant was busy. And maybe there was something unusual going on because everyone seemed a little grumpy, but an hour and forty five minutes passed to get our food - nothing fancy either, a couple of fried kids boxes and a couple of fish/chicken taco orders and a veggie burger with a burger to go. Fish tacos were great, chicken tacos cold and tough. Burger to go was wrong. No apologies. Even accounting for island time, just not how you want to spend your time on vieques! read more

We ate at Biekes Bistro twice during a five-day stay. The drinks were exceptional. We tried the Pina Colada, the painkiller, and the local Island rum. The service was quick, attentive and polite. The food came in large portions oh, we tried the fresh fried fish and the tacos which were both excellent. Most importantly I left my wallet behind and the restaurant staff had it waiting for me the next day. Can't wait to visit Vieques again and come back here. read more

This is a sweet place on the main road here in Vieques. We came in for lunch and had some food that wasn't Puerto Rican, but it was solid! Veggie burgers, they were freshly made, loaded with pickles, cabbage, tomatoes, and lettuce. Side of sweet potato fries, it'll make ya very full for sure. Super nice staff here and they have some nice covered outdoor seating. Desserts looked really nice (house made!), but we didn't get one. I'd come back to try some more authentic food (my own fault), which is a bit more expensive but probably worth it! Good prices for the island. read more
