One place on the island that I actually enjoyed! Many other restaurants seafood was disappointing but I thought about this place for the couple days I was in town. Their outdoor sitting area is lovely and they have good music playing. The staff was super nice and personable. The food took a bit to come out but it was worth it. Great atmosphere and location! Love the swing chairs. You order outside and they bring your food to you. Great beer and alcohol selection to purchase while you wait. That being said I felt our food arrived fast. Really impressed by the service. We tried the fried pickles and pretzel for appetizers. The pretzel is ginormous and so good and soft. My wife and I passed the BierHaus in Port Aransas daily during our month-long stay, so on our final day there we stopped in for lunchtime burgers. She got the All American and I opted for the Mushroom Swiss burger. Both were excellent. We sat outside for our meal on an 82-degree day and it was comfortable with a nice breeze. The service was relatively fast, however the waitress got mixed up and gave our food to someone else and their food to us. The mix-up was quickly realized and she retrieved our food from the nearby table. BUT...there's just something about your food being put in front of someone else before you get a chance to bite into it. I didn't notice if the other people touched our food - but, it was a mistake that could and should have been avoided. Second "problem" if you want to call it that was (and this is probably inevitable for outside dining) the tables outside are 2+ inch slabs of rock which is great atmosphere. But, we noticed most all of the tables had "bird poop" on them and no effort was made by any of the staff to clean them. We had to use water and napkins to try to clean our table as much as possible. Perhaps a wet rag/towel and a little instruction from management could train workers to keep tables a bit cleaner. Overall, the food was excellent. The onions and mushrooms on my burger were perfectly caramelized, the meat was perfectly cooked and a generous portion. We will likely go back on future visits to Port Aransas. read more

this place has a really cool ambience. I love the swings that you can sit in and when the weather is nice in October, it's the perfect time to hang out here. If I return here, I would definitely order the fish tacos again. They were the best thing we ordered. The prickly pear margarita was yummy. It's very sweet so that's not my jam, but my friends really liked it. We also ordered the lamb burger, which was good, but the patty was not very thick. If you're looking for a big thick burger, this isn't it. We tried the onion rings, which had no seasoning whatsoever in the batter. Definitely not ordering those again. The barbecue wings were gross. They were dripping with barbecue sauce and it tasted like cheap gross barbecue sauce that came out of a bottle. Definitely would not order again. My husband and I got our food very quickly but the kitchen forgot our friends' order so 20 minutes later we went into see what happened to their order... they had actually ordered before us. We weren't in a super hurry so it wasn't a huge deal. On another note, I'd rather use a porta potty at the beach then the women's bathroom here. It was disgusting. No toilet paper and what was left of the paper towels were in the sink and wet. The men's bathroom was clean, but not the women's. Overall, I'd go to this place again and I'd order a prickly pear margarita and the fish tacos. The staff was nice and the bartender was helpful. read more

The location, setting, and staff are great BUT that's where it stops. The food was soaked in oil, the oil needed to be changed. The fries were soft, the saving grace was the burger, and the patty was overcooked and dry. We were extremely disappointed. I would assume it's all better when you're drinking too much, but I would not go to BierHaus for the food. read more

The food was amazing, this is by far the best burgers you can get this close to the ocean!!! Bierhaus is right on the beach road with amazing outdoor ambiance allowing for wonderful time spent with family and friends!! The service was next to none with our bartender being amazingly helpful and sweet as well as the very kind kitchen staff bringing our food right out to us. The pretzel with beer cheese was really good and very fresh and the burger buns were so soft, slightly sweet, and perfect with the burgers. The swings outside and the cornhole brings a fun atmosphere for anyone from kids to adults. I wanted to love this place but waiting 15 minutes in line (felt like thirty) for two beers each time is poor business standards. Weather was beautiful but we will pass on this place. They should know they need to hire the proper amount of people conducive to the weather. I'd recommend the Beer Hut(swing bar) if you are looking for a place outside. read more

We went there thinking it was going to be a good atmosphere with good food. We were wrong. It took over an hour for our food and on top of it they missed half our order. They claimed it was never entered in but our bill says otherwise. They didn't have an itemize receipt and refused to make our sons order. We had to take the loss and order Whataburger for him. We were excited to try out this new restaurant since it took over from Shells and were very pleased. The bartender was incredibly friendly and outgoing, the drink menu has a wide variety and the food was delicious. It is a scratch kitchen, so understand your food is fresh but it might not be the perfect place very large groups--no where in Port A can accommodate large groups in a timely manner. Get over it. I came with a group of people for the first time here. We loved the vibe! The drinks were ok considering this was the closest bar to the beach. The food on the other hand wasn't so great. We waited about 1.5 hours for our food. We figured since we had ordered a lot we gave the kitchen the benefit of the doubt. We were very disappointed when we got our burnt fired pickles when we asked to have them done again we got the same thing again. Burnt fired pickles... The rest of the food was bland and very salty or oily. I will have to say I liked the giant pretzel but not too fond of the rest of our order.
