I am in the big 5 sport, trying to figure out which shoe fits for my foot. I was about to give up and frustrate because all of the shoe that I choose was too narrow for my foot. However, today is really a great day for me. A guy with pink shirt and curly hair (sorry I forgot to ask his name), he showed me a pair of shoe which fits my wide foot right at the first time. I wanted some football cleats. the website showed that an amazing inventory at the location. When I got there, they didn't have the shoes. Then each time I picked one, the lady went in the back and came back telling me they don't have have it in the size. Painstakingly I asked about 6-7 different models, settling for one I liked less, each time she came back and said they did not have it in the size (even though the website was showing inventory) Finally I asked her to just bring whatever she had in the size I was looking for. She came back with 2 single models, one looked like it was from the 80's. I got the other one because there was practice that day. Paid and left. When I got in the car and examined the cleat better it had signs of wear, so it was not even a new shoe, it looked like it had been returned before. Also from the get go the sales person had an attitude. I'm giving it two stars not to be completely ungrateful, I hope this company gets their affairs in order. Please do better! Came all the way here looking for a Raiders scarf. Went to the one in Monterey Park which was very helpful , because Monterey was out but took the time to look what store would have it. I was told this store had 2. As soon as we walked in it smelled bad. The store is also very unorganized and mess. I asked an employee where the scarf where and all she did was point to the middle of the store and said " over there"...big help there. I looked and looked but couldn't find it so asked another employee if he knew where they where that I was told they had 2. All he did was go to the front and asked someone in the front to check. Well she started helping other people and asked the employee that had helped me in the first place. Instead of helping all they did was pass the ball around. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE! !!!! Why all the negative reviews? I like to come here to get my workout stuff. Where would I find Asics for $50, definitely not Foot Locker! Their stuff is a lot cheaper for the same brand, it seems like. I for sure have never seen Asics for $50 at Foot Locker. I recently got a super thick yoga mat on sale for $24.99 and a padded sports bra for $16.99 (no lulus here but this will do) Many commented of the mess, it is not really mess, just too much stuff in a small space, it gives it character. Visited this store a couple months ago. Had forgotten to write this review till my friend today remembered me of our experience here. We entered the store and 2 (white) employees noticed us. It was obvious they saw us come in we made eye contact and every thing. Not even a smile from them. About 40 seconds behind us a white and Asian male walked in and the same two employees that saw us walk in greeted them. "Hi welcome to big 5 fellas!" Me and my friend (both Hispanic) looked at each other puzzled as to why we were treated differently. Why weren't we greeted? Was it because we're Hispanic?? Is it because we looked of low income? What was it? Yes I still bought my running shoes, but have definitely taken my business elsewhere. Decent store to get your sporting good needs without having to travel to the mall. The store is organized. The selection may not be the greatest but you may find what you need. They occasionally have sales. If you have a smart phone always google "big 5 coupon" and you may be able to score a coupon to reduce your prices. They even have hunting gear. Parking may be difficult since it's in the same plaza with many other stores. Overall it's more than a Foot Locker and you won't find the hippest shoes here. read more

I came into big 5 just before Black Friday seeking information about purchasing a gun, all of the employees I interacted with were great. They were willing and eagle to help and answer all of my questions. I was being quite the annoying customer with all my questions and demands. I went here to look at a rifle and the guy (some young asian kid with spikey hair) handed it to me, but the wierd thing is that he kept on making me point the gun upwards... i asked him why he kept doing that and he said its not good to have the barrell pointed at guests... wtf???? was i pointing at a guest? blech, anyway i asked him a couple of questions about the gun and he didn't know jack about it. The service here is great. I went in looking for a bike tube and a nice manager (I think) asked me if I needed help. I told him what kind I needed and he said they were currently out but to check back in the afternoon after they get new stock. He was very polite and courteous. It was a Wednesday afternoon, around 430pm. I needed a few things for swimming; and Big 5 was close by so I decided to head over and see what they have. Walking in, I noticed the store was relatively peaceful and everything seemed in order. I went over to the area and saw what I was looking for; I picked up the items and headed to the register. Everything was going very smoothly until check out. I must advise all patrons to mentally prepare to experience the most horrid, ghastly, and unfriendly sales associate at this location. She was busy chatting with other associates and wanted the transaction to be over quickly so she can return to the conversation; which I recall was something about parties and happy hour suggestions. I walked out the store diligently and the entire experience left a really sour taste in my mouth. I would much rather deal with self-checkout than to interact pedestrianly. As I was approaching the door, I see the associate I asked for help working as cashier. I am an old customer 20 year+. i had really bad experience at Big 5 Alhambra today. the return policy is not on my receipt, so, as a customer, i don't know their retrn policy at all. i want to return something in a new condition, and i have original receipt. but the manager said it is used. she said it is for exchange only, not for return. I don't know why she treat me like that, because i am Asian? she makes me very angry!!! Nothing special at this store. Plenty of products with minimal assistant provided. When you need something, don't hesitate to ask for help. If not, you'll be waiting for awhile. So I used to come here a lot whenever I needed new shoes or general sports equipment. Honestly over the past few years I've felt like the employees hired were mostly high school kids who would work for minimum wage and don't know too much about sports. However I was recently in the market for camping supplies. An employee was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, and even managed to help me pick out a knife based on what I wanted and what he thought would work best for me. I would give five stars, but while he was very helpful, the store can be crowded a lot with random boxes. Look for the asian guy with the glasses, he's super chill. read more
