I'm giving 2 stars just because one gentleman was nice in showing me were the restrooms were. However Lisa needs a retraining in customer service. We just left left because her attitude was so bad. She was very rude when we were asking to see things (mind you we went in to purchase). Rolled her eyes as we were leaving...I saw her do it. I work in retail and I get it some days are not the best but don't be rude to customers. We don't live in the states anymore so when we saw the big 5 we were really excited to go in. We went into the McKinley store yesterday to purchase ammunition and had a very unpleasant experience. We stood at the gun counter for several moments before I got the attention of the person behind the counter. I asked for her help and she seemed irritated in helping us, turning around and saying "what do you need?" I told her what I wanted and then asked for another item. When we went to check out the cashier called "Jennifer" over and as she was walking over she was very irritable and threw the boxes that she had in her arms. While checking us out I made a comment telling my son "Wow, someone is having a bad day today!" Jennifer literally replied to my comment by saying "I haven't had my coffee yet," very rudely! I wanted to tell her (@ 2pm) to go have it and get in a better mood but I didn't. My son was so irritated by her that he commented to her that "she shouldn't treat her customers that way!" as we were walking out. Sadly enough, Jennifer is the manager! This experience will prevent me from ever returning to this store! I too am a manager and I would never take a bad day out on a customer! read more

A simple acknowledgement would be nice. Shopped here on Sunday, 04/24/16 around 1 pm. Cashier didn't make eye contact or acknowledge us as we came in. She did stare at us as we entered. Walked by 3 other employees in the store and not one acknowledged us, offered help or did anything to make us feel welcome. As I made my purchase at cashier (same one working when we entered) she just started to ring up my purchase. She never greeted us or even say anything until my $10 coupon didn't work because it didn't qualify on my Nike golf balls. No biggie I still needed them so I continued with purchase anyways. At the end of the transaction she didn't say one thing... not a thank you out have a nice day. I wished Big 5 was closing and not some of the Sports Authorities or Sport Chalets because I at least feel welcomed there. But it's not just this cashiers fault. It's also the fault of the management team there at that store because they didn't do anything better there. I guess it's true "What you permit you promote". Big 5 mgmt. doesn't promote good service so why should the employees. Buyers beware... get in and get out. Spend your money where they appreciate your patronage! read more

This Big 5 isn't very large but it has most of the necessities I need for a good price. They have awesome sales & weekly specials. I think they are way cheaper than Sports Authority & Dicks Sporting Goods. read more

I bought two guns from this location and the customer service was great. They had a great special on a shotgun I wanted and it was out of stock. I spoke to the manager and she explained to me that they would be receiving a new shipment in a few days and that she would call me. A few days passed, and I received a phone call from the manager that my gun arrived. I really appreciated that she went out of her way to satisfy a customer. I had to wait a few days but still got the gun I wanted at a great discounted price. Thumbs up for Big5! read more
