Now that both my kids are in sports (soccer and flag football), we've been here more times in the last 2 months than I can count. I always forget about this store when it comes to our sporting good needs, but I'm glad they are here because they've had everything we've needed. The employees are always ready to greet me every single time we've walked in. They ask us what we are browsing for and point us in the direction we need to go. We needed to buy cleats for my son who plays flag football. The employee helped us find his size and made sure it was the right fit. We also needed a mouth guard and he gave us his recommendation on what brand to get. They sell pretty much everything and anything pertaining to physical activity. We've browsed around the store and found a few unique things that you wouldn't be able to find at Walmart. If you sign up for their emails, they send coupons all the time. Okay, I have to give some major props to this store. I ventured in here with my husband because we were looking for skates for him. After I bought my bike, I decided he needed something with wheels, too, so we could go for rides in the summer evenings together around our new neighborhood. So we decided to head to Big 5 to see if they had any roller blades. We were greeted right away and asked if we needed any help. I asked if they had rollerblades and were told that the gentleman in the back would come out and help us. We headed to the back and I told him the size we needed for my husband's rollerblades. He said he would check the back. He ended up coming back out after a few minutes and said he didn't see any. As we were walking up to the front, the same girl asked if we found the rollerblades and we said no, they didn't have his size. She and the other employee at the front went ahead and looked it up on their database to see if they could find any at any other locations in his size. They were able to pull up some and even saw that they indeed did have a pair in his size! She went to the back and found them, and they were even on sale and she got us an additional discount for them, too! This is a business that has excellent management, tremendous employees, great products at a good value. I walked in planning to get 2 "Dickey" Winter coats. I have bought 3 of the coats over the last 4 years (One as a Gift) and at $69 they are a great value for a quality product that works even in 20 Degree Toronto! I ended up also buying 3 pairs of shoes , and an MLB hat that was only $11! Big 5 sends out coupons in mailers every few months and I had one I planned to use, but misplaced it. I talked to a Manager and he said he would give me the discount! That same Manager asked me if I needed help, within a few minutes of me being in the store! The Great Lady that helped me get the shoes also was quick to ask if I needed help! The entire staff is very responsive! When one of the pairs I bought was the floor model, the Kind lady immediately told me she would give me 10% off without being asked! I just had the craziest experience at Big Five! As soon as I walked in, an employee named Arlene greeted me and asked if I needed help finding anything. She walked me to the boys' baseball cleats and then stayed with me, asking, "What's next?" Since she was already helping, I told her I also needed baseball socks and a cup. She quickly guided me through each item without a sales pitch--just helpful information, like which cleats were better for shorter players or which provided more ankle support. She even took items out of the packaging to help me gauge the right size, saving me the hassle of going back and forth. What could have been a 20-minute visit turned into just four minutes from start to finish! While all the employees were great--the manager on duty was super friendly, and the cashier was amazing--Arlene's efficiency and knowledge made my rushed shopping trip feel effortless. Went in the store at Green Valley Henderson on Sept 13, 2025 to see if can get fishing license and found it would cost me $40 with $1 fee but was seeing if they could take veteran discount being disabled said I can go to NV Wildlife a few miles down where they can do that and found out not remembering Walmart can do the same and they found my name in the system for $16 as disabled veteran; whereas this Big 5 couldn't assist me in getting the same price to pay for my fishing license but to rip me off. read more

I can remember when I was young before the big sport stores and Amazon Big 5 was it. These days they are still doing the same thing but with all the other games in town they just feel a bit smaller. The store is clean and the sales associates were all extremely helpful. The stock is just not too deep but they still have a lot of great stuff. I was looking for an exercise bike online and found that Big 5 had some one sale. Using their website, ( which was very easy to use) I found that this location had a few in stock. I called to store to verify and sure enough they did. They offered to hold it for me until I picked it up. Arriving at the store I was greeted and ask if I needed help. They quickly grabbed the bike that was on hold and offered to take it to my car. I have to say that the customer service here is top notch. I've e been here before and had experience great customer service then too. How refreshing to be able to go into a business and be treated like a valued customer. It's just awesome. read more

We started going to Big 5 Sporting Goods when our kids joined the soccer team. Their prices are affordable and they have the best sales and coupon offers. The staff is always helpful and friendly. I've been to Big 5 way too many times that I know the Manager Wayne and Salesperson Jenny. They usually greet me at the door. Ha. This store is a real lifesaver! Normally I would go to another big chain sports store... but because it's 20mins drive away... I couldn't be bothered... and was about to order online... but that took 3 days! So here I was trying to figure out where to go and WALLAH!! I checked my trusty Yelp app and found Big 5 Sports!! It's tucked away on Eastern Avenue right next to BJ's pizza and Twin Peaks! Like I said it's tucked away - so look out for the signs! I really like this place for my workout necessities. The prices are very reasonable. They often have great sales, especially on shoes. My friend got a pair of hiking boots for $20 (average looking, good style) and I got the cutest pair of new pink and black running shoes for about $35. I've had them for a few weeks now and I still love them. Great quality. I also get my weight lifting gloves here (necessity), and my knee support bands. Pretty good selection on both. It started off so well and ended terribly. When my friend and I first arrived, we were greeted by a young man who was clearly new. He was very polite when we asked about treadmills, and he walked us to two more senior employees to ask if they could help us out. The young man expressed that he was new, but was eager to learn and to help. A more senior gentleman showed us the different treadmills they had and was able to explain the differences. After a moment, my friend and I agreed on a treadmill, and this is where everything went downhill. The male employees working in the back of the store found two of the treadmills we wanted, but when we asked if they had delivery options available if the treadmill wouldn't fit in the back of my car, the new employee said I would need to ask the manager up front. There were two women working at the front. The manager was with another customer, so we asked the young woman working beside her if they had a delivery option. This young woman did not reply right away but had trouble scanning the sticker for the treadmill to look it up. The computer stated they did not have the treadmill we wanted in stock, even though we had been told there were two available. At this point, the manager became available and informed us delivery options don't exist, but she handed me a tape measure to measure the inside of my car. During all of this, I had asked to see the box to determine if I could fit it into my car; this request was ignored multiple times. When the manager began talking about measuring my trunk, I was under the impression she was coming with or something because at this point, we still weren't told if delivery was an option, and this was when she handed me the tape measure and said I would have to do it because she was the only manager working (a phrase I heard her repeating to others). What really made all of this situation feel off was how the manager was speaking to and about the employees. When the system turned up that there were no other treadmills in stock, the manager was outright rude to the employees and clearly did not seem to think highly of them and was like annoyed by them. I think this is what really ticked me off the most. Like, the treadmill aside, all of the male employees had been kind and helpful, even when they were unsure of something. Watching the manager stomping around, frazzled, not bothering to acknowledge or be kind to customers about to drop a couple hundred dollars seemed just... gross. You have a nice team of employees. Build their capacity and model good customer service, you would have a stellar team. Instead, this whole experience was just weird and uncomfortable. Needless to say, we walked out without buying anything, and I am looking forward to my new treadmill from Amazon. read more

My husband and I had to return an Everest boxing bag after the strap it hung from ripped on us during a workout. Tyler was more than helpful via phone before going in store for the return and happily answered all of our questions, was extremely apologetic and accommodating. Once in store, the exchange went so smooth! Here we were expecting a hassle of a transaction due to not having a receipt with us but the entire process took less than 15 minutes as they were able to look up our transaction and get us on our way with a brand new boxing bag! This store has a little bit of everything. We've stopped in for a few little things because we were in the area. When you walk in you will immediately notice the small size of the store. Don't get me wrong,... you can usually find what you need. They just have a large variety of items but few options of that item to choose from. I guess you could call their store 'cozy'. Everything is very tightly packed in. We also checked out their ammo section. They never seem to have one of the types we need. The other type is priced more than other places we've bought at. I do realize the supply and demand has caused the price to jump... but not that much. On the plus side the employees are always friendly and help us find what we need. I don't think buying shoes without trying them on is a great idea, so a trip to the brick and mortar store was required. Plus I got a $10 off a $30 purchase coupon in the mail. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the woman at the register. When I told her I was looking for shoes, she paged someone to the shoe area. A very helpful young man met me in the shoe area, brought out the 4 pair of tennis shoes I found on line. The shoe I liked the best was on sale for $30. And they gave me $10 off that. Such a deal!!! Back to school shopping for my son. We were promptly greeted as we entered the store. We needed comfortable, durable shoes for my teenager. Mike helped us with the different styles and sizes. We got one pair and wanted to more but they did not have it in stock. Mike contacted another store and told us he would have it there the next day around 1:30 pm. A few weeks back I bought a portable soccer goal post worth $99 and it did not last a few days for me and the post cracked, so went to return it and the manger was not very happy and did the returns and suggested I should shop at Dicks sporting good. It is always hard for me to find shoes that I like in my size. Big 5 has had my size the last couple of times I have been in and they have very good prices. They happened to be having a big sale today and I was really happy with what I got. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and again when getting to the shoe area. Yikes... How do they stay in business? Must be due to all the families driving gas guzzling SUV's that don't want to drive 8 miles to Sports Chalet or to Bass Pro.... 1. Service - Nearly non existent. I think the staff have to wear ties. Must limit creativity or even basic courtesy. I have been there about 8 times and never have been greeted once. 2. Selection - Continually unimpressed. 3. Sales Prices - See alot of advertised pricing, but rarely find something to buy. 4. Knowledge - Couldn't tell, since none of the staff every greeted me. Based on the ones I had to ask questions, I would say NO real demonstrated knowledge.
