I was in Arizona in April to participate in a Veterans fundraising event and racquetball tournament. I flew in directly from Europe to Phoenix for those 3/4 days and needed to get two pairs of sneakers in a 12 and a 1/2 wide. Wednesday 4/9/25 - I entered the store to a thunderous and enthusiastic welcome from Abigail. She left the counter and walked up saying hello, then asked me if I was looking for anything specific. She took me to the men's section with my sizes. Unfortunately they had a limited quantity and just plain colors in that size and width. She saw me checking out 3 different styles and offered to check in the back for them. She did and reappeared empty handed but ready to locate them - anywhere!! She started calling adjacent Skechers stores while taking down my hotel name and date of departure( WOW) to see if she could get me a shipment before that day. She also tried online but we could not arrange for a delivery in the time frame I had. I did not get to purchase anything on that day but walked away feeling great about Skechers and the Amazing Abigail who went that extra 500 miles for me. This is a big and clean store. They had a lot of shoes on sale with some great prices. Very impressive layout and even better customer care from Abigail.

Frankly, while they have a large selection, I've never had much luck when I've been looking for something specific. On my last visit, I was looking for a dressier "walking" shoe that would be comfortable for walking and standing for long periods at my volunteer job. Unfortunately, I was unsuccessful. But then I spotted the hot pink espadrilles. They came in my size. They would go with multiple summer outfits. They were comfy. While they were not my usual more conservative look, I realized how much I "needed" them and that's why they came home with me.

My son, who has autism, has been practicing independence by making purchases on his own. At the other location, he had a very negative experience where the manager, Justin, was dismissive, condescending, and outright refused to help him with a simple shoe return. That experience left him feeling discouraged and unwelcome. Coming here, however, was the complete opposite. Alexis was incredibly kind, patient, and attentive with my son. She treated him with respect and dignity, never once making him feel "less than" because of his disability. She processed the return with no issues and made sure he felt supported through the process. This is what good customer service looks like, it's not only about helping with a transaction, but about valuing every customer as a person. Alexis turned what could have been another frustrating day into a positive and empowering experience for my son. We are so grateful for her compassion and professionalism.
