Early Tuesday afternoon, quiet inside. Offerings are a variety at one register for pork sandwiches, Italian beef, I saw shakes being made as well. Other register is for BBQ. I ordered a small brisket sandwich. It comes alone. 9$. No accoutrements. Dry. I realized belatedly there are sauces in squeeze tubes. I wasn't told. I don't care for sauces much anyway. Lemonade. 5$. Decent. 3 men came in after me (individually) and were treated like royalty. I had to stare the worker down as he offered the man a free sample. They were nice to me when I was leaving. Good food! Tried this place for take out to feed the fam - tried the prime rib, rib tip and pulled pork. The prime rib was excellent - tender but not fatty. The pulled pork was a little spicy for my taste. The potato salad was excellent - probably one of the best I've had for BBQ places. The baked beans were enjoyed. Fries were a bit soggy. I had a friend come into town 2 weeks ago and we ALWAYS go to Smoque BBQ in the city. We went, we ate and all was good. We were throwing out some ideas for lunch on Friday and landed on Big Ange's Eatery and WOW! We were greeted with a sample of the smoked brisket and we all looked at each other and said this is better than Smoque!!! The smokey-ness, the melt in your mouth, the flavor was OUTSTANDING. The flavor profile of everything we ordered was spot on. The guys were friendly and checked on us. Perfection. The next day, Saturday, I brought in 12 colleagues for dinner and every RAVED about how delish everything was. They were also greeted with the samples, the service and friendly faces. On Saturday we ordered the Nutella banana white chip ice cream and listen here, I don't even like Nutella! Hit after hit. Don't sleep on this, you have to go. Last weekend, I brought my kids and same results. They loved it. Meeting friends tomorrow and guess where we are going tomorrow, you guessed it. Big Ange's Eatery. That would be 3 weekends in a row. Second time at Big Ange's; the first was not a great experience all around. Since the reviews seem so convincing, I wanted to try again, and really wanted to like it! Ordered the large prime beef brisket sandwich, and it was so dry and chewy that no amount of sauce could save it. Felt like the beef sat in a warmer all day to dry out. Granted, the smokiness was one positive feature. Ordered the pastrami rueben, and we agreed it was just an intense and disappointing salt sandwich, with hardly any sauerkraut or cheese to take notice of. We picked up on a Saturday evening with some activity, but not 50% occupied seating. Even then, service was not accommodating and it felt like I was in the way of something more important. Food was amazing. We had brisket sandwich & tri-tip sirloin, fries & Mac n cheese. Our sandwiches were the largest size. Lots of meat. Mac n cheese was creamy white cheese. Only a few negatives-It was a bit pricy $71 and the parking lot is very very small. Not much seating either. I would definitely recommend it. We are regular customers, and enjoy our meal every time we go. I cannot give five stars because of our last visit. I don't know who is working the Fry station, but it was not the normal person. When we got home, our bag of fries was barely half full. We will return because the meal was still very good. If this was my first visit and I paid the amount that I paid for fries and the meal I would've been disappointed with being shorted. First of all the entire staff is friendly and they will do anything to make your dining experience memorable. My wife ordered the brisket and asked for lean brisket. It was served with no fat at all. The St Louis ribs were also amazing. Living in Algonquin we are very disappointed in the local BBQ options. We recently came back from Texas, so our brisket standard was high, and their food blew us out the water. Not only that, but they made us feel like family from the moment we walked in. As a proud resident of ARlington Heights, I can't recommend this restaurant enough. I have personally tried the Pastrami, Brisket, Sausage Link, Fries, and Burgers, every item is better than the next. I would say so far, my favorites are the Burgers and Sausage Link. While I love the Sausage Link, the Burger is comparable to the likes of Small Cheval -- seriously worth the stop, I hope you make the journey to this wonderful restaurant. I even asked a question, and they didn't even look up, because I guess they weren't taking the orders...that was the girl 2 feet to the right. Second.. the food ( that was still available, lots of stuff was "sold out")was very expensive in my opinion, especially for the portion sizes. I paid $82 for 3 sandwiches, some chicken fingers and greasy fries! Third.. everything is separate, meaning nothing comes with fries or a side or a drink. So you're already paying literally $16.95 for a brisket sandwich, and then you have to spend another $5 for fries and then another $4 for a fountain drink. We were not impressed at all. Nice vibe, happy workers equals happy customers. I had the brisket sandwich, on point. Soft, almost melt In your mouth meat. The peppery bark had right amount of saltiness and spicyness to elevate the experience. The homemade orange/lemonade was meh. Just tasted like watered down lemonade. The coleslaw was neither vinigary or sweet. Just there and unmemorable. The mac and cheese with bacon was above average. Most disappointing were the bbq half ribs. A real contrast to the delicious brisket. Almost felt like it came from a different restaurant. Thick piece of rib with a whole lotta tough meat and watery bbq sauce painted on top.
