After quickly reviewing my options, I ordered the Sterling dogs with a side of coleslaw, plus a fountain Coke. Before tax, the total came to $9.98, which was pretty reasonable for lunch downtown. As I made my way to one of the booths, I cast my eye around the dining room, and frankly, I liked what I saw! The new laminate floor looked great, as did the brand new -and spotlessly clean- tables, chairs, and booths. The decorations and wall hangings were tasteful and un-cluttered, and I especially liked how the blue light horse silhouette (visible on far-right side of my dining room photo) conveyed a sense of good-Amish-food-meets-21st-century. After a pleasantly short wait, my order was delivered to my booth. The all-beef dogs were garnished with crispy-cooked bacon, red pepper relish, and shredded cheddar cheese. As you can see in my food photo, they looked great, and tasted even better! The side of coleslaw was also very good, which kind of surprised me, as I expected it to be overpowered by the clearly visible chunks of red onion, but the flavours melded together perfectly. I also liked how the staff stopped by my table to ask how the food was, and how speedy and friendly they were any time I took my fountain cup up to the counter for a refill. There was nothing creamy, soft, or saucy to bring it together, nor could I pick it up. I ended up just opening the tortilla and eating some of the food out of it. They were also out of sour cream so brought me a side of cream cheese instead. Sausage, lettuce, and ranch dressing, what? Next time I'll probably get the chicken sandwich. At the prices they charge I would usually expect real cutlery rather than plastic cutlery. (Then again, Zingo's is similar in that regard -- similar prices and plastic silverware -- so not completely unreasonable. But Zingo's has excellent food rather than so-so.)
