Wow, this was my first time here, and it was super busy, just like a classic diner! The bacon was crispy, but the real star was the pancake--it was practically the size of the plate! Been good before, but this weeks visit will likely be my last. Biscuits and gravy w/side of bacon. Bacon burned. Biscuits overcooked. Gravy had no flavor and tastes like it's out of a packet. Nobody asked me if my food was good. Waitress only came back to give me a check. Girl at the checkout counter was as rude as always. Pelham Diner is a beautiful hole-in-the-wall style buffet restaurant. The food is incredibly cheap for what you get and you can always go back for another round and you will still end up cheaper than just one platter of food at most other restaurants. The food is kept warm, never cold and the cooks and waiters are super friendly and always checking on you. My food was absolutely delicious, though it was a bit on the salty side. The only thing that keeps this from being a perfect 5 stars is the restrooms are in rather poor condition and that could be a turn-off for a handful of people. The staff is super friendly, and I think the entire customer base was just speaking freely and out loud with them my entire stay. And the place is small, so you gear everything! The only issue for me is the waitress singing every 80's song out loud. It got old after a little while. I was hungry. Looking around, the portions looked to be fairly large. The pancakes are frickin' huge! I ordered the Oxmoor breakfast: three eggs, 2 choices of meats (double patties for me), grits or hashbrowns, toast or biscuits, and a bowl of gravy, Wow! All of that for $10.95! All the condiments you need are already setting on the table; hot sauce, ketchup, jelly, salt, and pepper. The food was served quick. Food tasted good. Waitstaff was very friendly. But the food wasn't great. The squash casserole had a fishy taste and the potatoes were instant. Fried fish was very fishy- like it was old when it was prepared? It all looked good, but the taste didn't match. There was an issue with the plates and utensils being dirty- maybe the dishwasher was in need of repair and has since been fixed? But it took 4 plates for me to find one that wasn't gross looking and I still had to use a napkin to try and wipe smudgy grease off it before I transferred some of my food to it for my kid. Silverware wasn't much better. I hated it because the staff was so nice and I'd love a close meat and 3 with good home cooked food! read more

Yum yum yummy! I'd been wanting to give this diner a try but I'm not usually down this way during breakfast and lunch hours. But today was the day. Pelham diner is a meat and veggies soul food spot. The lunch menu changes daily and it's served cafeteria style... which I like so that I can see what the food looks like before I make a choice. My sis and I enjoyed our plates. We couldn't eat it all. I ended up taking my porkchop home for dinner and it was still good. No complaints. The service was great and the staff was very very welcoming and kind. Like going to granny's house (ya'll know I love southern charm). I have to go back soon for breakfast to try the pancakes... even the other customers were telling us how amazing they are. For a good value and good food, come here! The menu isn't extensive but they have your basic breakfast stuff. I got the patriot breakfast. 2 eggs, bacon or sausage, grits or hash browns and a pancake. Everton was really good. Bacon cooked crisp, grits creamy and buttery, eggs as I ordered. The pancake was enormous. They call it a hub cap. Needless to say, I took more than half of my pancake home. Service was good. We will come here again if we are in the area. read more

I ordered the patriot breakfast. I got a pancakes, bacon, grits, and scramble eggs. I was concerned about the 1 pancake but it was enough! It was huge. My service was quick to place my order and give to me. This meal reminded me of a southern breakfast that I haven't ate in a while. The environment is relaxed with tables that can fit as small as a party 1 to as large as a party of 8. The only reason I'm not giving a 5 star rating is because they didn't have cinnamons rolls this day. It was the driving factor for me to try the restaurant. Overall, nice experience read more

Had always been to Pelham Diner for breakfast, and let me tell you, you can't go wrong with their breakfast. But today we stopped by here lunch. A meat and three served cafeteria style. I had meatloaf with green beans and sweet potato casserole. Only complaint was a little too much sauce on the meatloaf for my taste but had an excellent flavor. Wife ordered the country fried steak with mashed potatoes, fried okra and blackberry cobble. She cleaned her plate, which is unusual for her. Said everything was excellent. We used to eat here a few years ago but then it became toxic. We started finding hair under our food and utensils weren't always clean. Staff was always pleasant just didn't seem to put much emphasis on sanitary procedures. Not a bad restaurant to dine at just know it may not be as sanitary as one would like.
