We were traveling and stopped in for breakfast. We were seated immediately and brought drinks quickly. We had to flag down and ask our server if we could order because she was busy talking. Our server climbed into the booth and sat down to take our order. I doubt she thought anything about it but we were on our way to an oncologist so we try to stay away from close contact with people. The food was amazing! The biscuits were salty which added a lot of flavor to the overall meal. I think they were excellent. It was like a plate of comfort food. The bathrooms were clean. When I checked into my hotel. I noticed this place across the street. Turned out to be a great choice. I walked in and was quickly seated. Katlyn arrived asking if I had been here before. She told me to look over the menu and ask if I had any special requests. She soon returned with my unsweetened tea and prepared to take my order. I settled on 2 eggs over easy, sliced turkey ,toast . I got the breakfast plate which came with two eggs, choice of meat, toast or biscuit and your choice of a side. I chose fresh fruit but there are lots of sides from which to choose. Lots of drink options including alcoholic ones. Food came out pretty quick. Eggs were cooked as ordered. My wheat toast was great. Loved the bread they used. Bacon was thick and crisp. I'm so glad we have multiple BBB locations in Birmingham and let me tell you, having another option close to my house has been delightful! All of the food here is good, but especially the fresh squeezed orange juice, the bacon, the biscuits, and the jellies, jams, and sauces. You can't go wrong with anything at this place. It is just consistent and trustworthy every single time I go there. The last three times I have been to this location, the service and the staff, from the hostess to the bartender to the server at my table to the manager coming by to check on us, were all incredible. I'm a big fan of Big Bad Breakfast. I've been to the one in Mobile, Florence and Homewood. I'm glad that the Vestavia one is in my backyard. When I first saw it being built, I was worried because it looked like a small building with not a lot of parking. I was wrong! The inside is bigger than it looks, and when we arrived there were several available parking spaces. The service was amazing!! Our waiter, Patrick, was very attentive and was able to handle everyone at the bar. I'm glad there was a bar option because we didn't have to wait for a table wait. BBB did it right again. My only complaints are the entrance/exit to the actual lot and that there is not signage by the stairs outside that they don't lead to a main door. I parked on that end and did not realize until I walked up. My sister and I were meeting around 7a on a week day for a breakfast sister date before work. The restaurant was clean and the staff were ready to serve their customers. The place filled up quite well for it to be so early. I like the look and feel of this location (vibrant and pretty open). The Belgian waffles are crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. They also use fresh fruit and whipped cream not fruit compote. The Big Bad Breakfast is a favorite eggs, bacon, potato hash cakes and a biscuit. I like my eggs over easy which they seem to have a hard time cooking because the whites are extremely runny. My theory is that the eggs are straight from the cooler not room temperature and don't get cooked enough. What makes their biscuits great is their homemade jams. An amazing recommendation for our post-hike brunch festivities! Big Bad Breakfast, BBB, was phenomenal! We walked in at about 10 and were greeted, seated, and treated right away. The Manmosa, which is mimosa with a shot of vodka, was watery and not worth ordering, but the food was spectacular! I was in the mood for lunch, so decided to go with the Ham Po-Boy which seems lame in comparison to the rest of the menu option, but it was not lame at all. It was perfection. I had been to another location before and enjoyed so was pleased to see this brand new location somewhat close to the office. I love brunch & breakfast style foods and it's a nice change of pace from the standard lunch fare. Parking at this location is much better than in Homewood, so it will always be my first choice in the future. Since I was by myself I was able to be seated immediately at the bar area but looked like I could have gotten a table as well. I opted for the "Cathead" Chicken Biscuit that I have gotten before. Crispy fried chicken, cheddar cheese and sausage gravy. Probably should have saved half for another meal but it was just so good I couldn't resist finishing it. After reading some of the Yelp reviews today, I took a chance on BBB in Vestavia Hills. Other reviews stated long wait times and slow service and high noise levels. We arrived early enough before a wait time; so I can't speak to that. We were seated when we arrived. However, there was plenty of wait staff. The food itself, I chose this place, because I wasn't in the mood for a greasy country breakfast. I wasn't in the mood for Cracker Barrel. I wanted variety, and this menu has plenty of options. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros Grit Bowl. My son order Chicken and Waffle. I don't typically like grits at restaurants, or coffee for that matter. My meal was fantastic! I'd order it again, and the coffee wasn't bad. My son liked his chicken and waffle. Great portions. Great prices. It wasn't obnoxiously noisy, but this place welcomes families, so expect children.
