Such a great spot. The food is spectacular. My goto is always the chopped pork sandwich. Onion rings are amazing. Their green beans bring you back to your childhood. The location. Retro cool old building that is still kicking. Take your time to look around and you see how this place was run back in the day. The old menu board still hangs. All of these great things and add amazing friendly service. You can't go wrong. Eat in or take out. It's a winner.

This place was amazing. Great pork, wonderful service, and probably the best onion rings I've ever had.

A 3.5 rounded up. The food was good and came as a pretty generous portion size. I could have easily shared it, but I didn't. So there's that. The interior tells a story, one that is stuck in time, but holds community value. Don't let that fool you. If you want to find a bbq at a fair price with no frills, this is the place. I think I got the deluxe plate? All I know is it came with 2 sides. For sides I chose green beans, and collard greens with bacon. The plate already came with their classic fries - both of which were very good. The meat was also on point - a little on the cold side, but still tasty. Service was fast, maybe because we came so late and were one of three families in the restaurant. Staff were polite, friendly, and attentive. We had an issue paying up as the POS system wasn't playing nice, but that's not their fault - I've used the same one and it sometimes has issues. I'd come back for sure, especially with prices like the ones listed on their menu.

Super disappointed. I grew up here in Fredericksburg. Went a zillion times to Alman's. It has diminished over the years, but I still loved it - until today. I ordered a platter to go. When I got home, it was only a single sandwich soaked in slaw sauce. There was ZERO Alman's BBQ sauce included. Family owned does not equate to substandard! Get it together Alman's!

I lived my entire childhood in Fredericksburg and never made it here - don't know why. Glad I was able to stop in for the first time when I came thru town. Loved it. Got the pulled pork sandwich with fries and slaw. Pork was amazing. Not usually a vinegar based sauce fan but theirs was really good. Two other sauces also, both great. Fries not worth it - skip them. But get all the cole slaw. So tasty. I should have gotten a 2nd order. Friendly staff too!!

Six years coming to Fredericksburg and Wifey and I FINALLY stopped in for BBQ at Allman's. A very exciting meal for us. This is the kind of place where I almost always find a good meal...and usually good service. Normally we would have tried to get a number of items on the menu, but we wanted to save ourselves for a big dinner we needed to go to later in the evening. Wifey and I decided to sit inside as it was a little chilly and we each ordered the BBQ pulled pork sandwich platters. Each platter comes with two sides so we ordered potato salad, Mac and cheese, cole slaw and baked beans and then some extra cornbread. It's always a great deal when you can also order a couple beers with your mail...not a great selection, but Wifey had a Rolling Rock and I had a Yuengling. The sandwiches were large and the pork was tender and tasty. Platters came with both a traditional BBQ sauce and a vinegar based sauce (North Carolina flair). Both sauces were good, but I liked the vinegar sauce a little better. The sides were pretty good- cole slaw was delicious; the Mac and cheese was a little overdone, but tasted great; the potato salad was very close, but needed a little salt or acidity so I added some of the sauce which made all the difference; finally, the beans tasted canned, but I'm not sure they were-not overly sweet, but flavorful. Really glad we finally made it here...great prices, delicious sandwiches and good service. I'd eat here again.

This is such a classic! The interior and exterior have their 70+ year charm still intact. And the food is delicious! We stop in when we pass thru the area since my spouse used to live in nearby Falmouth. We each enjoyed the heaping plates of pulled pork bbq and didn't even have room for the bun! And we loaded up on tasty sides. The onion rings were soooo good! We also had the beans and some Mac and cheese. Both were also tasty. Oh.... and the Cole slaw! All totally yummy!! We love both sauces. One is a little spicier. The other is sweeter but smokier. Yum!

This historic BBQ is worth the visit. Indoor and outdoor seating. We tried the pulled pork sandwich and chopped brisket sandwich- along with a total of 6 sides. If you can save room for dessert, the pot of gold is astounding! My favorite is still the banana pudding. The staff is friendly and attentive

I have driven by Allman's BBQ for years, traveling up and down Route 1 from NOVA to NC. Saturday was the day, we finally stopped to give it a try. Funny that this is a BBQ place and we really wanted Hotdogs. This old-time, little place with grandmas kitchen table and chairs for dining wasn't bad. The way the customers came in and struck up a conversation, you knew it was a local favorite. Our server, did not get her name, was such a sweetheart and let us know her favorites. Final decision was 2-Slaw Dogs, which they fry, one with crinkle fries, the other with potato salad. I am not a fan of crinkle fries but these were really tasty and hot. The potato salad was more of a deli style when I was expecting a southern style potato salad. It was good but not what I expected. The hotdogs are deep fried, pretty good for a cheat day. The slaw wasn't bad, I'm used to the vinegar kick and this slaw didn't have it. Will we return? Sure, I want to try the BBQ!

Very delicious bbq in the Fredericksburg area! It felt like a mom and pops diner. Theres plenty of street parking right outside the restaurant. There's outdoor seating with lights and fans. I'm sure it's very cute at night! It was very busy when we arrived, but were seated right away and the waitress made sure we were still taken care of. The food came out quick! I really enjoyed my pulled pork sandwich and my husband enjoyed his brisket. The sandwich had lots of pulled pork and with my sides the meal was more than enough to fill me up! Will be back when we are craving some bbq.

I decided to go with the smoked brisket and smoked hot dog...presentation was great but not a big fan of weighing bbq at the register but if that's your process, I get it....brisket was mid...looked re heated but lacked authentic smoke flavor...not sure if they use a true smoker or a variation of a pellet smoker/indoor smoker...it's on the same line as mission bbq...not bad but not winning a contest. Brisket prep is a hard skill to master...it depends on the person...some may prefer point of flat...try is particular brisket lacked flavor, there was a hint of smoke but not much else...brisket is a solid 7 out of 10.... Smoked Hot dog is winner...down to the bread, presentation and most important...Cole slaw. Does the hot dog give off a rich Smokey flavor....not really...is it worth the price...you bet. So how does this place receive a 4?....great customer service, clean establishment, plenty of sauce options, and let's face it...bbq is a hard business but most importantly it's one of those things that's cooked and prepared differently all over the world...give WWB a try and come up with your own conclusion

Unfortunately, our last two visits have been marred by the same new server who was consistently rude and dismissive. On our most recent visit, we waited over 10 minutes before she approached our table. My husband ordered a meal (he loves the BBQ), but I cannot eat the smoked food due to stomach issues. I simply ordered a rum and coke with lime. She responded with "Pepsi?" and later repeated back only "Pepsi" when confirming the order, completely ignoring the rum portion even after I emphasized it. When my husband requested sangria -- something the bartender has happily made for us on previous Friday/Saturday visits -- she insisted they don't serve it and that he must have had it on a Sunday. We never visit on Sundays. Later in the evening, we moved closer to the fire pit because it was cool outside. She brought our water over and checked on us a couple of times. We told her we were fine. Toward the end of the night, my husband went to the bar to order another drink (as we've done before when the server isn't readily available). When it came time to close out our tab, the server arrived with the manager (Nolan) in tow. His presence felt awkward and accusatory -- as if we were about to skip out on the bill or posed some kind of problem. When we expressed confusion, he said he was just there to "warm his hands." As longtime, regular customers, we found the overall treatment disrespectful and off-putting. We tried speaking with a manager afterward to share our experience, but it didn't seem to go anywhere. We genuinely wanted to continue supporting this spot for the music and atmosphere, but after two poor experiences in a row with this server and the strange handling at close-out, we will not be returning. There are plenty of other options nearby.

The guy running things in the trailer was very friendly, clearly the owner. They offer all the typical BBQ joint menu items (Brisket, Pulled pork, Pulled chicken., Ribs, etc) and all the typical sides too (beans, slaw, green beans, corn bread, etc). I also liked that they have about 6 BBQ sauces, all made by them and all different styles/flavors. We got a pulled chicken sandwich and a brisket sandwich. For sides, we opted for their cole slaw and baked beans. I also got one of each of their sauces to try. Prices seemed fair, at $28 for this order (what I said we got). Getting home and cracking into our order - The slaw was 'ok' but seemed to be lacking depth of flavor (celery seed and pepper) and had a slightly off taste. Plus, the container was filled about half way. The beans were really good! Nice flavor, spice, and sweetness to them. Next was to try the sandwiches... My wife got the pulled chicken sandwich and as soon as she unwrapped it, she thought it was pork, as it looked chopped and was in extremely small pieces. She tried to eat it and wanted to enjoy it, but the texture was like sawdust, as it was chopped so finely. For me, I got the brisket and when I opened it, I felt like the beef was a little overdone, but the flavor was decent. The texture was tender, but slightly dry - it definitely needed sauce. As for those sauces - My favs were the mustard and the Texas - Both were flavorful and really nice. Overall - Not bad, but if I went back, I would totally try other items.
