Disappointed as I was actually looking forward to having nice lunch. Cappuccino was almost at a boiling point, so couldn't taste the coffee in it. Artichoke quiche was drowned in cheese and was way too salty. Will not come back.

Visited for coffee. Our order was taken and we got our drinks pretty quickly. The cafe is cozy and it's great to see the bulk coffee and coffee roasters, but the cafe felt cramped. The coconut vanilla latte was tasty. Nice to see the variety of food options available.

Nice cafe with reasonable prices. The caramel macchiato and the avocado toast were great, was especially pleased with the toast as the price was really great for added eggs and bacon. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.

This is a cute cafe in downtown saratoga with lots of food and drinks too. I got the masala chai, it was pretty good with a strong flavor. The ambiance is nice for working or socializing too. I'd probably try one of the baked goods next time. There's indoor and outdoor seating. It was nice and warm inside on a rainy day and not too crowded.

Loved this small cafe with a large selection of goodies for everyone. Nice outdoor seating where you see the locals gather, pups are well behaved and waiting at tables, and the food was excellent

We've been here on multiple occasions mostly for their carrot cake which is superior imo. Their non-flavoured drinks like mocha, cappuccino are pretty good too but the food can be a hit or miss. We tried their avocado toast on sourdough last time which was good but the Broccoli cheddar quiche was definitely not fresh & just reheated to make it palatable. It's a nice little place that opens up early, where you can work out of for the day, stroll the downtown and have a good evening to end with. That's the perk, otherwise I'd say just stop by for the carrot cake goodness.

Delicious mocha that my husband initially thought was his cappuccino until he took a sip

We came here on a Saturday for lunch because the line at the bakery we'd come to get pastries from was a bit long and we hadn't had breakfast, and it ended up being a fortunate thing about that line because we've discovered a great spot! My husband ordered a sandwich (probably the BLT, I was too focused on my food to remember, LOL), and I ordered a slice of the tamale pie, which was like if you made a chili into a shepherd's pie and replaced the mashed potatoes with corn bread. I'd never seen this before (maybe I live under a rock? Is this common?), and it was really good! I had it with a mocha, which was also really lovely. My husband enjoyed his sandwich and cappuccino, and then suggested we get a slice of pie given that they had vegan pie slices (I am allergic to eggs, and also very tired of asking about which desserts have egg in them, so this was an amazing find for me). I got the olallieberry pie and he got the New York coffee cake to go with the remainder of his cappuccino, and we very much enjoyed our respective desserts! The cafe itself is pretty cute, and has some nice outdoor and indoor seating (we started outdoors since it's usually quieter outside of most cafes etc., but it ended up being a little too cold and windy that day so we moved inside). They have what looks like roasting equipment and beans on site, and sell their beans, so we will have to look into that in the future as well! The staff was polite and efficient, and there's a single occupancy bathroom in the corner (which I think counts as all gender-friendly). We will almost certainly be back again next time we are in the area, this is a lovely local gem along the main street.

The quiche and rhubarb pie were delicious for an afternoon snack on a cool day. The service was very fast and prompt. There are good options for indoor and outdoor seating. However, if you have a pet, there are ample places to sit outside. Great place for a quick snack and coffee.

Consistently cozy! I'd been to Big Basin Cafe a few times before, and loved the warm, homey atmosphere. On a Saturday afternoon, they were pretty busy, but we were able to order at the counter right away. I got a Blueberry Lavender Latte and Avocado Toast. The Blueberry Lavender Latte was incredible - great flavors, perfect for a rainy day. The Avocado Toast was very average, and came with a mountain of sprouts on top, so I ended up picking some off. It was a decent snack, but not particularly filling. Since we were still hungry, my roommate and I got a Mushroom Quiche and slice of Blueberry Pie to share. The Mushroom Quiche was pretty good (cheesy, nice texture), but the Blueberry Pie was easily the highlight. It wasn't overly sweetened, the blueberry filling was delicious, and it went great with whipped cream. They also had a massive selection of pies, so I would love to try more in the future. Would return!

Cute cafe with sandwiches and homemade desserts. Coffee and tea was also served. Clean. Nice servers.

I was there last time for their freshly cooked paella and it was impeccable. Recently we came back…read moretwice, once on Sunday as I forgot that the paella was a Friday thing, so the staff told me that they usually have paella and clam chowder freshly cooked on Friday. They happened to have a small tub of Friday clam chowder left for sale, for a whopping $16! That price dropped my rating to a 4 star. Service is still 5, but man, the value proposition isn't as high as before. The clam chowder tasted good, creamy and all, but $16 for that is really hard to swallow. The store itself is clean and sells a variety of meat products and imported goods such as from Italy. We came again on Friday evening, at 5pm exact and saw the paella pan laid outside with some amount of paella piled up. The pan felt cold and we were confused if they haven't started cooking or those were the left over. So we went inside to ask and they said the paella was available starting at 5pm, so what's on the pan was cooked. We bought 1 portion, which feeds 2-3 and it came in two 16 oz tubs. For $35, it fed my husband and myself just right. The smoky flavor was on the rice with meat and lots of clams and mussels (but not those fatty mussels that you saw in the Belgium style dish). $35 for dinner of two is not as bad value as the $16 bowl of chowder. So overall, 3.5-4 stars for food and value, 5 stars for service and friendliness.

First thing I noticed is coffee was really good. Food was fresh, tasty, and plentiful. I had the crab cake Benedict, and we had a Santa Cruz crepe and avocado toast with lox. Plenty of lox, along with everything else. Usually crab cake Benedicts are too salty, but this was actually under spiced in my opinion. Not bad, you can control the salt, but since I never add salt, it was a bit bland. The crab didnt jump out either, it was just a bit mushy and hard to taste. Still good, and healthy. I would kick it up a notch though! All in all, nice brunch and I would return to try their omelets.

Unfortunately, the experience and food just doesn't quite live up to that promise yet. The menu sounds great on paper, but the execution is inconsistent, and the food can feel hit-or-miss depending on the visit. Service is friendly, but often a bit unorganized, which adds to the feeling that things aren't fully dialed in yet. I really hope they refine a few things because this place could be so good with a little more consistency and attention to detail. I'd still give it another try in the future because the potential is definitely there.
