    Chorizo Burrito (1)
    Charlotte P.

I have been trying to find a good chorizo breakfast burrito near me and it was looking pretty bleak, but finally I've found one. Their chorizo breakfast burrito is really good. It has a lot of flavor on its own, though they do offer a tomato salsa on the side. They use pork chorizo, cage free eggs, potatoes, black beans, cheddar cheese, sriracha crema, and scallions and then they toast it! The slight crunch of the scallions in this was a delight. Seasoning is not a problem there is a perfect amount here. The service was pretty fast, they had my drink and burrito ready in about 15 minutes. I also got a coco-cold matcha latte, which is an iced matcha latte with coconut cold foam. It's very good, their matcha is good. Stir it, if you don't you will get just the earthiness in the bottom- if that's what you like then you'll love it, but if you want more balance stir the drink first. Anyways, I'm looking forward to trying more from this modern little cafe.

I ordered room service from here so unfortunately can't talk about the ambiance of the restaurant. Ordered a Cabbage Salad, Yogurt Parfait, and 2 Waters. Unfortunately the 2 waters never arrived and I was not reimbursed. The Yogurt parfait was okay, but lacked sugar/honey. It was not really sweet enough. The toppings (granola, fruit, etc..) were solid. The Cabbage salad was good. I did enjoy the flavor of it and was both filling and light. The chicken unfortunately was very bland. Okay place to grab breakfast/lunch if you're in a pinch.

The cappuccino here is amazing . I came here for lunch and asked for a cappuccino with the CA taco salad without meat . My friend ordered a CA taco salad with chicken . We both loved our meal . The portion size for the CA salad is big . This is an informal restaurant with seating inside and outside. The cashier was helpful in giving us an idea of the different coffee options . We have also ordered breakfast here on a different occasion . For breakfast I recommend the quiche and tomato soup . The quiche is like a Japanese cheesecake in regards to the fluffiness . Highly recommend their walnut brownie as well .

This place appears to be one of Los Gatos' favorite locations for breakfast, lunch, coffee, etc. IMHO, it is ok. The prices seem to be a bit high for the portion size. Flavor wise, my salad and iced matcha latte were fine. Nothing wowed me, though. Everything appears to be either premade or prepped ahead of time.

I honestly can't believe I haven't reviewed Purple Onion before. I've been here more times than I can count -- I love this place. Purple Onion is situated on a corner in Downtown Los Gatos, which at times can make finding street parking a little challenging, though there is public parking nearby (behind Soda Works). Something to be aware of when planning your visit. Also note that there is another location on Westminster in Los Gatos. I've made the mistake before of not making this clear to a friend I was meeting, which ended up delaying our lunch when she went to the other location. Oops. Purple Onion is not a full service restaurant. Patrons order at the counter and receive a beeper to alert them when food is ready for pick up. At high traffic times, the line to order can extend out the front door and finding a table can be challenging. But more often than not, I've been able to secure a table and order food without too much discomfort. The decor is rustic and unfussy -- with a wood-paneled counter and back wall, self-service stainless steel water and tea jugs, large old-time Los Gatos photographs lining the walls, and bistro tables outside. It's cute. Food and Drink: Purple Onion has all the food and drink you'd expect from a breakfast/lunch establishment and then some. Espresso drinks, coffee and tea, soft drinks, and some house-made lemonade, among other options. Naturally, they have a pastry case with all the yummy treats -- the chocolate croissants here are awesome (they don't skimp on the chocolate!). They usually have vegan and gluten free options too. Purple Onion serves a variety of breakfast items, sandwiches, salads, and hot dogs, as well as specials. My favorite salads are the Chicken Cabbage Salad and the Superfood Ahi Salad. The Chicken Cabbage salad is enormous and filling, packed with their in house pulled chicken and veggies. The Superfood Ahi Salad isn't as large as the Chicken Cabbage Salad, but it is equally delicious, well seasoned, and fresh. I usually upgrade to a side of the veggie detox soup (think veggies swimming in a flavorful turmeric coconut milk broth) with this salad to round out the meal. My partner's go-to is the boardwalk baguette (ham, brie, and baguette). I've also gone with the breakfast burrito when I just want eggs for breakfast -- I can confirm that this is also yum. Overall, Purple Onion is absolutely a solid choice for breakfast/brunch/lunch when in Los Gatos.

I'm so excited because they have my gluten-free lemon bars again! They didn't have them in December when I was here last. The guys who work here now are sooooo much nicer than the girl who used to work here. I love their green detox vegetable soup. I'm having it for breakfast.

Got takeout here on a Wednesday lunch. I got the Chicken Cabbage Salad and a Ham Quiche with Detox soup on the side. The Ham quiche was a little disappointing, I wish there was more ham in it. The outside of the quiche was nice and crispy so that tasted pretty good. The Detox soup was alright. It tasted like a bunch of greens just mixed together, but knowing that it was called detox made it taste healthier haha. The chicken cabbage salad was quite good and was a very big portion. Too big of a portion that there wasn't enough of the provided dressing for it. If you order this see if you can get an extra cup of the dressing. The wonton crisps absorbed most of the taste of the dressing but still were crispy.

Chicken Mozzarella & tomato basil soup

Purple onion is a great little cafe right off the trail in downtown Los Gatos. I ordered the chicken Mozzarella sandwich with tomato basil soup. The sandwich has great flavor and a large amount of chicken - toasted to perfection. The soup was warm and creamy, nothing special. The prices are a little high for what you as this was over $20! Would come back and try other things.

Had lunch here on a Sunday afternoon, and the place was clean and spacious with neutral colors filling the room. There was also plenty of indoor and outdoor seating available, and the customer service was standard but sufficient. The cafe was pretty empty so there was hardly a wait for our food. Beware, the display case for pastries was empty an hour before closing time, but the labels looked like they were offering some tasty items earlier in the day. The classic turkey sandwich was slightly dry, but only because they packed it with meat, so the proportions were a little off. Otherwise the sandwich, along with the salad that came on the side, was made up of fresh and tasty ingredients, creating a perfectly filling meal. The breakfast croissant with bacon was freshly made and served hot, with crispy bacon and fluffy scrambled eggs mixed with melty cheese inside a yummy croissant, slightly crispy on the outside, but soft and airy inside. Nothing too unique, but super satisfying. Also, street parking was free and easy right around the corner. Positive experience overall.

    Spinach quiche and salad.

If you're hoping to sit inside, I'd definitely recommend making a reservation. The service was wonderful from start to finish. My friend and I both ordered the smash burger and I've got to say it was easily one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. The meat was perfectly cooked and seasoned so well. The sweet potato fries were crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and absolutely delicious. And whatever you do, DO NOT skip the bread pudding. It was a 1000/10! Not overly sweet, perfectly balanced, and the texture was incredible. If you're on the fence about dessert, just order it, you won't regret it. The only minor downside was that the sodas were very flat and tasted a bit syrupy. Other than that, everything was fantastic. The prices were reasonable, the portions were generous, and the overall experience was excellent for such a cute spot in downtown Los Gatos. Will definitely be returning soon!

No big deal, as I wanted the bar anyway, but something others should keep in mind. The cocktail list is plentiful and intriguing. I tend to avoid tequila, so that eliminated a good chunk of the options. I went with Rose Colored Lenses, which was fantastic, and decently sized. Presentation was beautiful. My friend had All a Dream, also very good. The wine offerings are minimal, this is very much a cocktail or champagne type of place, with caviar being the primary food service. Speaking of service, the bartender was excellent, both in his mixology and demeanor. It took awhile to get the drinks, but I assume that was due to the complexity of the cocktails, paired with having just opened the doors a few min earlier. Two notes: 1. The barstools were a little too low, imo. I don't normally pay much attention to that detail, but these were uncomfortably low for me, even with my long torso, I was hyper aware of my posture. So maybe that's actually a good thing 2. Other patrons were rolling in shortly behind me, so there is probably an early crowd when they first open, then a late night group that appreciates the 2am closing time. Interior is beautiful, and you can use the steps up to the 2nd floor either from N Santa Cruz or the rear parking lot off W Main. More substantial food options are a mere few steps across the hall at Heritage.

Christy was friendly, welcoming, and helpful at the host stand. My first time in, it was for appetizers only, and Todd was our server. He was insightful and entertaining, with prompt service. The sourdough pretzel and crab cakes (it's a main, but seemed sharable as an app with 2 crab cakes) were both delicious. Perfect amount to share as 2 people for a light bite, although the pretzel is massive. It comes with 2 sauces, a pub cheese and a mustard option. He gave great recommendations based on what we looking to try. The crab cakes were set on top of a warm cabbage that was almost a slaw. Using multi colors of cabbage, it presented beautifully with aioli on top of the crab. Great combo of flavors. I could see it being a main course for a single person with a smaller appetite, OR if you already filled up on a pretzel and/ or another appetizers. My second visit, I got to try the highly recommended seabass. It was served with mashed potatoes that evening, although I heard it sometimes comes with a risotto instead. Very buttery, excellent flavor, and I enjoyed it quite a lot. My husband had wanted the seabass, too, but I got the last one, so he opted for the most suggested entree by staff we spoke to: the English Dip. I didn't get to try it, but he said it was phenomenal, and almost like a Philly Cheesesteak made with sliced ribeye. It looked yummy, wrapped in a French roll. Kids enjoyed the Pub Club, Heritage Burger, the salmon, and Caesar salad. Shout out to Luke for taking care of our table on that visit. Brief note on the wine from Brassfield, Serenity white blend, that they offer by the glass or bottle. Absolutely fantastic, with a sweeter note, although it's 75% sauv b 25% pinot grigio, I'm told. Once I tried it, I couldn't entertain ordering anything else off the extensive cocktail, wine, and beer menu. In fact, I'm hoping to figure out how to get some into my fridge at home. Thanks, Todd, for that suggestion! My one note to the restaurant would be to please add vegetables to the seafood entrees. The salmon with red quinoa would have been that much better with some asparagus or other green veggies, as would the seabass. Yes, there are sides you can order to add vegetables yourself, but seems like a smart add to the standard dishes. Looking forward to going again for more Serenity and yummy food! The menu offers an abundance of options for every palate, and British classics are only a small portion of those being offered. Apologies for no pics from the 2nd visit.

Our friend ordered the Pappardelle al Ragu di Anatra. It was the absolute tiniest serving I have ever seen as a main meal. It was served using a plate that was so large and had a small fist shaped indention in the middle that held the meal. The beignets were delightful, and paired really well with the dark chocolate and salted caramel sauce. I really appreciated that all their hot dishes came out really hot. Overall, it was a really enjoyable dinner. Would be back to have the onion soup again and try other items on the menu.

This used to be one of my wife's and my favorite places--a charming French bistro with great food…read moreand an atmosphere that always made us feel welcome. Unfortunately, our most recent visit completely changed that. We had reservations for a Saturday evening and were seated promptly. That's where the positive experience ended. After being seated, we waited 20 minutes without a single acknowledgment from staff--no greeting, no water, nothing. Meanwhile, other parties who arrived after us were attended to right away, which made the situation even more frustrating. After more than 30 minutes of being completely ignored, we decided to leave. It was honestly one of the most uncomfortable and disappointing dining experiences we've had. As strong supporters of local restaurants, this was especially disheartening given how much we used to enjoy coming here. Sadly, this experience has permanently changed how we feel about this place, and we won't be returning. I hope the staff takes this as a reminder that every customer deserves the same level of attention and respect.

All the drinks pair well with the wide range of food options on their extensive menu. There's plenty of seating both indoors and outside, plus several TVs throughout for watching sports. I ordered the Hop Holistics, a fresh, fruity Hazy IPA with a low 5.6% ABV, making it easy to enjoy more than one. I also tried the Alpha Dog West Coast IPA, which has a higher ABV and was another tasty choice, especially with my burger. I went with the smashburger and fries, and it was fantastic. Packed with flavor from the Memphis‑style BBQ sauce, avocado, and pickled red onions on a brioche bun. We were sharing it, and they even split it onto two plates for us -- a small touch we really appreciated. Only complaint was the bartender was NOT friendly at all. We felt like we were making him work. Definitely need to get someone that wants to work and not that guy! Despite this, we'll definitely be back to try more of the menu and enjoy another brew.

We were driving to Santa Cruz on Memorial Day and it was such jam packed crazy peak traffic taking hours to move a mile, we decided to detour and take exit to Los Gatos. Now I've been to this cute rich neighbourhood city couple of times and enjoyed a lot. We parked at nearby garage. It was so damn now so loved the outdoor seating concept with play area for kids. My son loved running around here! Beer flight was decent, I didn't like any of the 4 beers given. We had pesto chicken sandwiche. It was not warm and tasted very normal Fried were cold and not seasoned well too. But it's great for outdoor seating and chilling with friends and family Self service , but good and drinks were super quick to arrive.

Really enjoyed this place…read more Ambiance is very inviting and well decorated. Comfortable and modern vibe with an earthy feel. Service was excellent- from the hostess to the server to the sommelier, on point, on time, friendly and efficient. Food was delicious and well prepared. The cheese and olive oil as an appetizer was fantastic. My wife enjoyed the half chicken and I enjoyed the pasta with mushrooms. Drinks and wine were delicious. The bourbon ice cream with bacon was a perfect ending. My wife really liked her poppyseed lemon cake. A very enjoyable meal and evening.

Parking wasn't too bad at 6pm (we could park in the middle areas of the hotel parking lot) but by the time we left, the parking lot was full. Our server Silvia was friendly and checked in with us frequently to see if we needed anything else. She provided us with recommendations at the top and when we were asking questions about getting multiple dishes family-style, she provided feedback on whether it would be enough for the table. We felt well-attended to. Asa does rotate through their menu and the main downside was timing for us! My sister really wanted the carbonara she had seen on the menu but they had literally switched over to their spring menu. No carbonara for my sis. :( We shared: Jamon Iberico (good, straightforward), Caesar salad (I wish I had had my own! Really well dressed), trumpet mushrooms (the vinegar was a little too strong for my sister but I thought it was tasty and delicious), cauliflower (sister's favorite dish), spring pasta à la vodka (good, although it didn't particularly stand out in my opinion), exotic mushroom rigatoni (delicious!) and my favorite, the Argentine steak. The chimichurri sauce was perfect to balance out the meat, and I loved dipping the fries in the remnants of the sauce. Only 2 of us got dessert and we both chose the olio nuevo ice cream. They used high quality olive oil and the entire thing was delicious. Would definitely get again! Overall, excellent experience and food at Asa. I would definitely bring friends and family here for a nice dinner out!
