Don't expect Big Boy to be around long. We did not come here with bad expectations. Upon reviewing the menu on line my wife was thinking we may have found a new place to frequent. Far from the case..... Food- totally burnt bacon, cold meals says to me that food here is an afterthought. Service- forgotten or ignored requests are numerous. Unclean, sticky menus show a lack of real cleanliness. Ambiance- do to a lack of other customers, the only noise was from the staff shucking and jiving in the kitchen. The server did take 15% off the bill and did not charge us for the bacon. Even so, I will not return to Big Boy on Sternberg road. read more

Used to be one of our favorite places to eat breakfast or supper but new management changed what's available from the menu and served smaller portions. Chicken tenders were some of the best in Muskegon but it has slowly become some of the worst. Sometimes they're over cooked sometimes under cooked and much smaller. The breakfast buffet was poorly stocked and usually cold. The wait staff has changed 100% and usually slow because of under staffing. In the past year it has definitely hit a low point. read more

Our first time here! They are not open for sit down at the moment but we're providing takeout service. We were greeted right when we walked in the door and the person was so nice. She told us someone would be right with us to take our order, it wouldn't be her because she was off for the day, but she would make sure someone took care of us. Erica came over within two minutes and took our order. She had a friendly and warm way about her, even while wearing a mask. I could tell she was smiling and it made our experience that much better. Food was ready quickly and it was piping hot. I had the big boy combo special that was a big boy burger, fries, coleslaw and a drink for $7.99! Hell of a deal! He had a triple burger that also came with fries for $10.99 and we added a chocolate milkshake. We will definitely come back. Looking forward to the day we can dine in. read more

First off I want to say it was 5:30pm and the place was empty so the slow service was unacceptable but if that was the only issue I least would have been okay however it was not It was the worst food I have had in Muskegon in a very long time. The place felt more like a bar more then a family restaurant and the food was like it sat around getting cold waiting for the next vicitm's plate. they had one cook and front house employee. So I imagine the back of house was as dirty as the breakfast bar was and they weren't even using it. read more

I haven't been to Big Boy in years, and that was in Detroit. This Big Boy location was part of a strip mall. It had a statue out front. I arrived at 9am, no cars out front. That's not a good sign to me. Walked in and saw that two tables were occupied. I was immediately seated by a friendly hostess who asked what I wanted to drink. Promptly brought my coffee with water. Good to see a generous size coffee cup, that way you don't have to keep looking around for a server to keep it topped off. I was surprised that the hostess was also my server. She took my order and was back my meal in less than 10 minutes. Fast service I'd say. 2 Eggs, 2 bacon strips, 2 sausage links, hash brown potatoes and a biscuit. I could have opted for toast or a muffin, or even pancakes, but who wants hot cakes when you have potatoes already. Potatoes were dry as was the biscuits. Food was $9, Coffee a whopping $2.99. The free Wi-Fi was not connecting. Probably won't be back. It just didn't do it for me. read more

1) the manager was outstanding!!!! A homeless man was having breakfast , a couple that was sitting near me offered to buy his breakfast, but he had already ate. The gentleman opened his wallet to give the man some cash. I normally don't carry cash. After breakfast I asked the man if he needed anything and he said no !!! Upon paying my tab, the manager stepped up, I was going to buy a gift card and give it to him. The manager took care of it by donating the money to the man. A great morning !!! Food was hot, delicious, and reasonably priced. Deb was our server and the service she provided was Excellent. The restaurant was very clean. They could use a better sign outside because they are hard to notice. They are located right across from Bob Evan's Restaurant on the corner. I would highly recommend Big Boy in Muskegon. read more

I was so excited to see this restaurant again. I remember it during my teen years on Apple Avenue, Muskegon. We stopped in this morning to give it try. The problem that I see, is it is hard to determine if they are open. The tinted windows are dark and this makes it difficult to see in. Once we came in, we were greeted by their staff and taken to our table. Service is swift, friendly and attentive. Piping hot coffee was great, as well as my Classic Blockbuster Breakfast. Comparatively speaking, Big Boy is at the top of my choices for breakfast restaurants. I will give another review when I stop back in for lunch. Big Boy is noted for their Burgers and more. Big Boy used to be a Michigan icon and a guaranteed great cheeseburger! I had high hopes when I saw a Big Boy opened here! Memories of great breakfasts. Great pies and deserts. However, first impressions today were not so great. This was a Sunday and the breakfast buffet was being served. The only eggs in the selection was a suspicious looking scrambled eggs and the rest of the breakfast selection looked like it had been sitting on trays for awhile. Opted for the Big Boy cheeseburger and that was hugely disappointing. There MIGHT have been a tablespoon of the Big Boy 'special sauce' on it but was probably less... Nothing spectacular here, not the appearance, the cleanliness of the restaurant or the food. It was a chore to get out of this place as the cash register line was backed up and not moving. The register person couldn't seem to be able to operate the register, apparently didn't have the authority to accept gift cards, etc., they had to run off and find a manager often. I googled the history of the chain and the owners/operators of the old days we remember with fondness are long gone now. Completely different people now. All that survives is the name and Big Boy statue. The greatness they once had is absent. In the end, if you are supposed have a feel good feeling leaving a restaurant, this place fell flat and I gave it an average 3 stars which I thought was being kind to them. read more

Boy what a disappointment this was. We ordered a bowl of chili. The bowl was half full and there was no liquid in it. You couldn't even mix crackers in it. It was room temperature. Also our fries were room temperature. There were only two other tables with customers when we were there at 1:30 p.m. Talk about people not even caring to microwave the food, this is sad. Big Boy has been a Michigan Icon for as long as I can remember. Sadly this site continues to disappoint. Tried to go there at 7 pm tonight, doors were locked and there were diners inside, staff was leaning against the counter in the back. Oh, the nice sign on the door said, hours 8am to 8pm, then a paper sign on the door says, 10am to 8 pm. I am all for supporting local businesses, but come on, you have to help us out here! We went for the first time tonight. The place was bright and clean once inside. Employees were masked up, even though customers did not have to be. There were only 1-3 other customers while we were in there from 5:10-5:50 pm. We were greeted immediately, the greeter and our waitress were very friendly, courteous, and helpful. We had a BOGO coupon from the Out on The Town book. My husband got the 10 piece fried shrimp meal with hush puppies, French fries, (we thought hush puppies but they weren't served with the meal), and Cole slaw. He enjoyed the Cole slaw. The shrimp were small, but he had approximately double the amount specified, a big order of fries. Unfortunately he didn't care for the shrimp or the fries. He felt maybe they had been fried in old oil. I had chicken Parmesan. My house salad was fresh and plenty of tomatoes, cheese and croutons. The chicken was tender inside, crunchy outside with plenty of mozzarella cheese on a bed of thin spaghetti. Good toasted bun on the side. I was pleased with my meal, although a little light on sauce. We likely won't be back since the shrimp and fries left a bad taste with my husband. It's too bad, we used to eat at Big Boy on Apple a lot. read more
