Wasted my time, I wouldn't recommend coming here and making an appointment because they'll most likely lie and say you came to late and won't take you. Scheduled an appointment for 9:20 and came early and one of the unprofessional barbers had the audacity to say I'm late... I'd give 0 stars if possible. Wouldn't recommend coming here if you care about professionalism!! Even though I wouldn't expect it from a barber shop with cages in front and blacked out tinted windows in El Monte. On top of all that they only have 2 barbers with 4-5 chairs which makes no sense. Makes it seem they're smoking crack on there free time. Stay away from places like this.. what's even funnier is that the fact I called in last week on a Saturday to schedule an appointment and they said were not going to work that day or the next and when I asked for Wednesday they said they "might" be working and they're not sure.. This place is very fresh. Right when we walked it the cold air hit my face. There's nothing better than to wait 25 minutes while my son gets a haircut. I used to come here often. Wait time is between 1 hour to 3 hours depending on the day. One time I came about an hour before they closed. They saw me walking toward the door and literally I saw through the glass the man ran to lock the door. No courtesy of letting me know they were fully booked or anything. These people don't know how to act just cause they been getting busier. Parking is mediocre only 3 cars at the time. Don't park in the boba shop you'll get towed up 200$ per night. They favor Appointments over Walk Ins which would be no big deal but I was left waiting while Barber sat with four of us who were there for a haircut. As barber scanned a catalog, after 10 minutes I asked how long he was going to wait. He said his appointment was at 4. It was 3:42. I was next up. I told him he could wait and went to Girard's a few doors down. I walked out with the haircut I wanted at 4:03. I wasted 45 minutes plus waiting. I've walked out 5 times before but they're good about saying the wait is long and when you see barbers hustling I appreciate their honesty. Haircuts here are generally good. We've recently moved to El Monte. My son is super picky in who handles his cuts. It was very hard for the new change in barber shop. Big boys was not a good first time experience. I believe my son waited almost 2 hrs and no one approached him lol ( teenagers ‍). I ended up calling my son to see what the hold up was about. I called the shop and ask why my son was waiting so long ( they thought my son waiting for someone). However, they assisted my son and he was happy. I haven't had any issues afterwards. My son loves that fact that he can text his barber Will (which is super convenient) to save a spot for an upcoming cut. The prices are affordable and staff is friendly. Best place to get a cut! Great atmosphere with great employees that do an amazing job. You get that good barber shop feel when you come here and they are even great with kids. They all take there time and have patience with every single person they cut. I've been coming here for a few years now and don't let anyone touch my hair since I first came here. I've been coming here for a while they're cool and all but two times already I show up early and they let clients walk right in and go ahead of me saying they have an appointment even though I've been waiting for 2 hours with no heads up about appointments ahead of me.. Followed my barber Moi here from Big Mikes. I never get a bad haircut from Moi. He takes his time and makes sure your cut is perfect before you leave. I usually get a taper and his fade is always on point. I always make an appointment because I prefer not to wait. The appointment price is $25. Don't go to Big Boy's unless you want to get covid19. None of the four employees wear masks and also no masks for the several people who seem to be there to simply visit with the barbers. Barbers readily shake hands with everyone that comes through the door and there is no social distancing. Chairs are right next to each other and several are occupied by visitors. I came here based on the Yelp reviews, Moises had great reviews, whoever he's only available by appointment only. My mistake was letting another gentleman Manuel cut my hair. I gave him simple instructions he went an and gave me one of the worst haircuts I've ever had. He is horrible! Buyer beware. I will only return if I get an appointment with Moises. Parking is sparse on the street but plenty of spaces at the strip mall across the street. Bathroom is clean and this place is kid friendly. Update I made my second visit to this business and arrived just before closing without an appointment. Moises was kind enough to invite me to sit in his chair for haircut. He did not rush me he took the appropriate time and attention to even the smallest details to give me one of the best haircuts I have ever had. He followed my instructions 100%. I will be returning to him for all future haircuts and make my appointment so that I ensure my time with him. The price was fair I left him and generous tip as well. read more
