We went to Big Chico Burger last night, after reading the reviews on yelp. It was our first time going there, so we wanted to see what other people thought. Since there was only one bad review, we thought we might take a chance. In retrospect, we probably should have listened to the one person. We waited over 20 minutes for our food. I understand that it takes time to cook, but for a 20 minute wait, I could have gone somewhere nice. Our burgers were undercooked despite the long wait and the fries were cold and soggy. They were understaffed last night, which I understand is not the fault of the two girls working, but the management who doesn't know how to staff a restaurant properly. We got our order to go, and when we gave it back to the girls to wrap, our food sat on the counter for 5 minutes while the two girls working tried to keep up with business. I was thoroughly disappointed with the food and this morning, I still feel sick to my stomach from the disgusting food. If you are looking for a a Delicious burger, go to Burger Hut. read more

Love this place! Staff is super friendly and great atmosphere! LITERALLY THE BEST VEGGIE BURGER I HAVE EVER HAD!!!! The beer battered jalapeños are amazing and their condiments bar is packed with tons of options! I definitely recommend trying the secret sauce they hav, DELICIOUS! They have outdoor seating and cute picnic table style tables inside. Super cozy and family friendly. Definitely better than any burger place in town. :) read more

Burgers taste like homemade in a good way. Large condiment bar selection which you apply to your burger yourself is fantastic. Large portions (share the fries). Only reason I didn't give it a 5 is that I felt the pricing was a little on the high side for burgers and fries and the atmosphere was a little unkempt and left a little to be desired. In town for an annual conference and spotted their food cart during the Thursday Farmer's Market. I don't know why I wanted a burger as it was about 105 degrees in the shade. My favorite burger place in town! I have been coming here since 2017, and have NEVER had a bad experience. The paco sauce is out of this world! And they have some of the best sides as well, my favorite are the onion rings or the plain ol fries. I seriously SERIOUSLY recommend this place to anyone looking for one of the best burgers you've had, or their wonderful mini corn dogs, or fresh chicken tenders. My only complaint is their phone order system. I've tried to place a phone order 2 separate occasions now and they've both failed, the last time I was left on hold for 15+ minutes and then hung up on, and this time today I was put on hold once for 10 mins, I tried calling back after waiting several minutes, and again was immediately placed on an indefinite hold, so I decided to drive down and order in person and to my surprise there was no one in the parking lot? So I made an order for takeout and they were quite speedy. I was surprised being put on such holds just to have my order taken and made within 10 minutes when I had a walk-in. Was really tasty! I got a custom burger that was cooked nice and had fresh toppings and my son got a hotdog that he enjoyed. Nice employees, cute patio! Only thing I'd change is their French fries are really short (so you have to pick up like 4-5 at a time for a decent bite). But they tasted good so that's just me being picky! read more

I had first tried this place about 10 days ago and it was so tasty, I love being able to pick my own toppings and not be charged extra for that like other places. I decided to go again yesterday because that's how much I enjoyed it. I am extremely disappointed in my visit yesterday. We decided to have our order to go so we could watch the game, huge first mistake because we ended up getting half the amount of fries we got compared to eating at the restaurant itself. My boyfriend and I ordered both of our burgers well done because that's what we like, it wasn't till we got home and took our first bites only to realize they were still pink. On top of all that, the fries and burger were extremely salty, the fries were also all soggy whereas when we ate there the fries had the perfect crisp to them, the bun to burger ratio was perfect (yes the bun was a bit bigger but the bread was really taste so it balanced out). Unfortunately we weren't able to finish our burgers or fries like we did when we ate there the first time because it was just way too salty and things were not cooked right. Maybe it was an off night for them, but it will take a while for me to give these guys another shot. read more

Burger was cold, very pink all the way through (under cooked), service was very poor (told my wife that she didnt need "extra sauce" and gave her a poor attitude while handing over 1 extra sauce container), fries were cold and some were under cooked. will not return because it is just like Brian K commented : Burger Hut with more cost and worse food but i will add worse service. read more

Nice quiet place to eat. Food was good and fresh. Service was up friendly. We absolutely loved the atmosphere.

I'll start by saying it has been a while since I ate at Big Chico Burger. I have no real excuse for the delay so I'll just get on with the review. I took my son to Big Chico Burger for a special occasion. I don't have a whole lot of disposable income so we don't go out much. After looking at the menu we order cheese burgers, fries and two drinks and the total comes to about $18+! Yikes, oh well, this is why we don't go out much. So after a long wait our food arrives. I proceed to put some topping on our burgers and the lettuce just looks awful. It was soggy and discolored. I can't see a valid excuse for putting bad produce out ESPECIALLY when there is a full blow grocery store a block away. I have worked in restaurants and if we were out of something or if it was not of decent quality someone would run to the store and buy more to get us by until the next produce order came in. So, we ate our burgers without lettuce, they were decent, not great. The fries were decent as well, but after a few I noticed the ketchup had a really rancid flavor to it so we ate our fries without ketchup. So, Big Chico Burger has earned two stars. I haven't given them a second chance not because of the food but because of the price. I felt like I over paid for bad food and just cant get myself to give it another go. Had I paid a fair price for bad food, I would have gave them a second chance. read more

The ingredients used are always fresh and tasty in the toppings/condiment bar and is unmatched by any other in Chico. The prices are on the high side but you do get what you pay for here. A big thick juicy tasty burger. The only issue with this place is the parking lot is tiny and really awkward. And sometimes the grill hasn't been cleaned recently and you can taste the old char of everything that came before yours. You can either eat inside at one of the comfy tables or they offer take out but I do recommend adding 10 minutes or so to their estimate because in my experience it is never ready on time and kinda awkward standing in everyone's way waiting at the pick up window. read more

Have you ever had a hair in your food; and went well ok accidents happen. Or maybe you just through the whole thing out. Well I scrounged what little money I had to go out and get something for the first time in two weeks to get a $12 1/3 beef mushroom burger. With not one, not two, and believe me I'm not exaggerating here there were ten hairs on my patty. I am never going back to this establishment; unless there's a major change in management. read more

If you're looking for a burger on the north side of Chico, this is your place. You get a ton of food for cheap, and it's always delicious. I've never had a problem here, and I come pretty often. One of the best (affordable) burgers in town. Large fry to go is plenty to share between others. Condiments are fresh and love the deep fried jalapeños to top the burgers. The bun completes the package as it is certainly the best in town (i belive backed locally). This is a good old school burger joint. You place your order, they throw a frozen patty or 3 on the grill, and you bask in that great charred flesh aroma. The condiment bar where you build your own burger is simple but adequate. And the onion rings, although frozen from a bag, are worth a taste. The buns are also excellent. They're made in a bakery just down the street. I'll be back if I'm ever in Chico. read more

The Burgers here are awesome. And OMG the fries are to die for. But what I really like are the BUNS!!! The veggie burgers are also great. Basically just another old experience at burger hut. It's literally an exact copy of burger hut right down to the build your own burger and the fries seasoning. Not only that but most of the people that work there have horrible attitudes and treat their customers like garbage. Especially the owners. Not a fan at all of the restaurant. read more

My boyfriend Jeff & I went for a lunch on a hot Chico summer day to Big Chico Burger ... and it was amazingly delicious! The meat was cooked and seasoned perfectly ... we love the whole wheat buns and the fries were perfectly crispy! They defiantly know how to do Chico proud!! I'm not so sure about this place. Sometimes its good and sometimes not. I'm a vegetarian and their veggie burgers aren't the best. The only thing I like is the fries and the sauces. My friends go to a school right by there (across the street) and they love it. They go almost every day, but I don't know how they afford it. It's extremely expensive, depending on your budget. $5 for a veggie burger and about the same, sometimes more for a regular burger, and then there's the cost of the fries and drink, and extra for topping(s). So for one person and a full meal its about $8-15. The employees are usually nice, but I've heard from several people that the owner is not very nice. Also some of the workers have a bad attitude, its not just a once in a time thing, its almost every time I've been there, getting something or not. Also if you go on a week day do NOT go at lunch, there is a huge line from high school students, its better to go for dinner or on a weekend. read more
