I like that you can add your own toppings even if you are taking it to-go. They call it out, you add your toppings, give it back to them and they wrap and bag it up for you. The house sauce is delicious. Large fries will easily feed 4 people.

Great burger, love the options! The counter service was fast and moderately helpful. We were there for a late lunch and there was a bit of a wait. The toppings/garnish bar is great! Love that house sauce!!

Burger was raw. Never eating at this place.

Picture of the raw burger should explain everything. Would never recommend this place.

Big Chico Burger is officially my favorite burger spot in town. With endless options for customization (burger size, cook temp, grilled toppings, fresh toppings, and sauces) there's something here for everyone. Order time and prices do not align with fast food, because it's not fast food. You're getting grilled to order, all natural, California-grown, certified black angus beef on an artisan-style bun from local bakers. Last night, we ordered two 1/3 lb cheddar cheeseburgers, one 1/3 lb mushroom swiss cheeseburger, the Big Chico Platter (fries, seasoned fries, and onion rings), and 3 fountain beverages. It was ~$60 with tip. It was an all-lady crew last night, and they were working their tails off while still making time for friendly conversation. Aside from leaving with a full belly, I also left feeling like I had had a memorable customer encounter. We've definitely worked our way through burgers around town (Burgers & Brew, The Ranch Hand, etc.) and aside from a very different but equally as delicious burger experience from 5th Street Steakhouse, Big Chico Burger is a standout. They stay busy for a reason!

Tasty burgers in Chico! They have an interesting setup. They give you the burger and then there is a toppings bar where you can add your own toppings ( ketchup, mayonnaise, red onion, pickles, tomato, lettuce, jalapeño and other condiments) You return the burger to the kitchen and then they wrap it up. Pretty cool art on the walls. Arrived on time to pick up order and had no problems with the orders. All was done as specified when we called! Had a guacamole burger with all topping, cheddar cheese and sweet potato fries. The fries were not crispy but average. The place was very clean, the staff was friendly and the restaurant has a small parking lot.

The name pretty much tells you exactly what you're getting, and thankfully they're really good at both. The burgers are the main event. Big, messy in the way a good burger is supposed to be, and actually worth being hungry for. There are enough options that you can switch it up every time, although I usually end up staring at the menu for way too long just to order something similar to what I always get anyway. The fries are great alongside it, and obviously having a good beer with everything doesn't exactly hurt. The atmosphere is another reason I like this place. It's lively and casual without feeling like they're trying too hard to manufacture a "cool" restaurant. You can come in with friends, grab a burger and a beer, hang out for a while, and nobody is rushing you out the door. Service has always been friendly and pretty on top of things, even when they're busy. And considering how packed places like this can get, that deserves some credit. It's definitely not an everyday kind of meal unless you're trying to personally keep the beef industry afloat, but when you're craving a real burger, Burgers and Brew is hard to argue with. Five stars and absolutely worth coming back to.

I especially loved the curly cheese fries, and the fried chicken sandwich was good too. The place is steeped in history. I'm not really a bar person and the energy isn't quite my vibe, but there's a lot to appreciate--especially the wild ceilings packed with random items. It's unique and full of character, even if it isn't perfectly aligned with my usual preferences. My husband, a local who grew up in Butte County, shared some great stories about his Chico State days, back when this was still a quieter town of wealthy families with unpaved roads. Those little pieces of local history made the visit even more interesting. A solid, character-filled stop if you enjoy the Bar vibe, you're hungry after a hike and open to a place with real personality.

Loads of TVs with a variety of sports events playing. We ordered at the counter and then sat down at a table. We only waited about 15 minutes to get our food. My son and I ordered the Great Bacon Burger and specialized it to our liking. I ordered the side salad and he got curly fries. His roommate ordered the Near Burger with curly fries. When we got our food, the boys' burgers were not the way they had ordered them (one had cheese and the other had tomatoes). And it wasn't clear was whose was whose. My side salad was basic basic fare. I should have ordered the curly fries. I probably won't be back, but it was fun to visit the iconic Chico restaurant.

I blame my daughter for this review…read more Last week we were headed to sushi when the smell coming from Parkside Tap House ambushed us on the sidewalk. Being pregnant, she's operating with heightened food detection abilities that rival military technology, so she immediately declared, "We're coming back here." A week later we returned with her boyfriend and brother, and what followed can best be described as a competitive eating event. The hostess greeted us warmly, got us seated quickly, and we settled into the lively outdoor patio. Great atmosphere, cold drinks, sports on the TVs, and just enough energy to feel fun without feeling chaotic. We started with ahi bites, beer cheese pretzels, jalapeño poppers, and Brussels sprouts. The ahi bites were fantastic. Fresh ahi, creamy avocado, crispy wontons, and a little heat at the finish line. The pretzels were soft enough to pull apart with your fingers and the beer cheese was rich and addictive. The jalapeño poppers got an unexpected upgrade from the blackberry BBQ sauce, which gave them a sweet, smoky personality all their own. Then there were the Brussels sprouts. Whoever thought of pairing Brussels sprouts with blackberry drizzle deserves a raise. Sweet, savory, crispy, tender, and impossible to stop eating. For dinner we sampled the taco bowl, brisket bowl, rice bowl loaded with brisket, and a house salad. The taco bowl was colorful, fresh, and loaded with flavor. The brisket bowl was my personal favorite. Smoky brisket over fried rice with vegetables, crispy wontons, cotija cheese, and a sweet-spicy sauce that kept me digging in long after I should have stopped. The rice bowl with added brisket was almost comical when it arrived. Massive chunks of brisket perched on top like they owned the place. Tender, smoky, juicy, and worth every penny. Even the house salad was fresh enough to remind us we were technically eating vegetables. What stood out most was that every dish felt like someone in the kitchen actually cared. Nothing felt thrown together. Portions were generous, flavors were bold, and everything hit the table looking as good as it tasted. We originally found Parkside by following our noses. After this meal, we'll be following our cravings back
