She used her foot to push rag around on the floor then picked it up with her hand took to counter and went straight back to cooking without cleaning her hands. They charge 6$ for a milkshake (not worth) and my burger was not cooked, super pink almost raw besides the fact it wasn't an impressive burger or bun. They didn't ask for a temperature but I know for a fact they shouldn't be serving hamburger medium rare unless specifically asked for. Would have complained but ordered Togo. The bun (roll??) was a surprised and delicious! Hubs ordered a standard, but huge burger (I can't recall the size) and thoroughly enjoyed it. I order the smallest burger on a brioche bun with grilled onion, mushrooms, tomatoes, Swiss cheese, and mayo - I highly recommend. The mushrooms and bun really made the burger. I've been here many times and it's become a must visit spot every time I come to Chico. Their burgers are extremely good, so good that they don't need any gimmicky toppings to make them seem better than they are. They are also what I compare all other burgers to, and so far in my hometown, I haven't been able to find anything that satisfies like Big Chico Burger. My most recent visit was last weekend and the food was delicious. We ordered at the counter and took it to go. The wait was decent and the ordering process was easy. There was some confusion with the orders of our friends and ours, where we think some of their fries ended up in our bag, and we might not have gotten all the sauces we asked for. They also mixed up the order a bit, I asked for no pickles/no tomatoes, and my spouse got no tomatoes with extra pickles, but we ended up with no pickles on his burger and extra pickles on my burger. We made it work just fine, but it was a little sad to not have the perfect experience we usually get there. They still get 5 stars though because everybody has off days. read more

1 POUND BURGER. Something that I had to try being a retired competitive eater. My wife and I were coming out from out of town for a family member's wedding and saw this place with high ratings. It definitely did not disappoint! We had just come from Mass at the Abbey of New Clairvaux and needed to order lunch. We had several take away orders of salad, chicken sandwiches, "mini" burgers (compared with my 1 lb. Burger), and their signature 1 lb. burger. The verdict from my family was that all their orders were made perfectly and it was very delicious. My 1 lb. Burger was freshly packed, grilled and had so much flavor. Surprisingly, I was able to finish the 1 lb. burger because it was so good and I couldn't put it down. It definitely filled me up for the remainder of the day. Three stars for the food. The burgers are really good. I like how you can build your own burger at the bar and the condiments are great. Generous serving amount when it comes to french fries, onion rings, etc. The only problem I have with the place is the customer service. The young man that works the register and cooks the burgers (probably owners son who wears a Pirates hat) is just straight rude. He has a very condescending and cocky demeanor every time I take my family to eat here. I'm not even big on customer service but I definitely wont be treated rude when I dine out. I am a big fan and would love to give 5 stars. The buns are terrific and the make your own burger is a great concept. But after coming here since 2005, I have found that the burgers are always under seasoned and over cooked. When you order, they ask you how you want your burger cooked. For 17 years, I've ordered medium and for 17 years, I've gotten well done. Every time! Never even pink which would be medium well. Love the place but I sure wish they could hire a cook who can cook burgers properly. Please train them to do so. Maybe after 20 years I could get a medium burger! I will then gladly give 5 stars. I was initially just looking online for the Big Chico Burger's hours when I saw that review by Minnie L and finally signed up for this yelp thing just because I thought her review was so retarded. I've only been in Chico for a year now, but I am very happy to have discovered Big Chico Burger early on in my stay here. The burgers are great, I love being able to fix them up how I like them, the fry portions are outrageously huge, and I really like the chipotle sauce. I have never gone here right at lunch time, and since there is a high school across the street, I probably never will. And if anyone is wondering why it takes so long to get your food, it is because THEY ARE COOKING IT! Yeah, it's that sizzling sound coming through the window they pass the food through, oh never mind. I recently discovered their "seasoned fries" or whatever they call them. They are cross-cut fries and they are hands down the best fries in this town full of whiners. They might be some of the best fries I have ever had. I like them because they are good and each one is like picking up ten fries at once. The shape really grabs the ketchup, or mayo, or chipotle sauce, or whatever you dip your frites in. Only if you go to PV as a student and looking for a quick lunch, I don't recommend going there at all. The burgers have made me sick, and the ice cream has a horrible aftertaste. The owner (I think) has such a HORRIBLE attitude, I don't even want to step inside that place again. They do have somewhat an attractive student special, hence, you should only go there as a student. Bad food, and even if you do go there, do not go during lunch hours. The service is extremely slow. It's also located relatively close to Upper Park so after a nice long run, ride or swim you can head over and fulfill your daily FDA requirements. Basically I seem to be the one person I know who isn't a fan of Burger Hut. I hate it with a passion, and that's something rare for me to say! So when I heard the Big Chico Burger was comparable (but better) I figured I'd give it a try, especially since my friend had a coupon for a free burger with the purchase of one burger and two medium drinks. Well the prices were a bit more than burger hut, but the variety was better! I ordered what I had been craving which was a burger with pepper jack and bacon. MMMMM...all I can say is the the meet was cooked perfect, the cheese was melted just right and all topping bar had all fresh veggies to choose from. But it was the bun that will bring me back again. It was like a mix of bun and french roll...super soft with the right amount of dense chewiness that I like on a burger. Dry cardboard buns are disgusting. The fries were fresh and piping hot. Parking is award and there is limited seating inside, but since the weather is nice the outside patio is open as well. I will definitely be back in the summer! read more

I am new the to the area and have lived close by this place and finally after a few months, my wife and I decided to give this place a try. While we were placing our order, one of the two grill girls were staring off into space and i couldnt help to notice her deep ear digging with her finger. Gross!
