This experience was definitely subpar, and at the prices I expected more. We dined in on a Sunday evening. It wasn't too busy, yet they were out of at least 3 things I ordered. My server wasn't rude but was extremely nonchalant. She would forget critical items for our meals and then say they were out of it completely... after my order was delivered incomplete. The boil bags seemed a little light, and the sauce was lacking on Cajun flavor. Boiling Crawfish was absolutely AMAZING!!! I love seafood boils but I'm very picky about them. I got BC Combo 2 while everyone else at my table got Snow Crab combo. 3 of us got medium flavored and it was the perfect amount of spice! The spicy flavor was great for those that really like it spicy. This was my first time in Jacksonville & first time eating here after a coworker recommended it. Our waitress was super attentive (almost a little too much) but great customer service is hard to come by so I won't complain. Everything was great. The low country boils they have are fantastic honestly. They have 8 different types of boils. With shrimp snow crab crawfish sausage corn on the cob potatoes. This was really good. I got the shrimp and crawfish boil. Combo 1. I had mild spices and it had enough spices that you can taste it but not overwhelm the other flavors. Service was great. The waitress venah was great. Great menu with good selection with specials for each day. One thing you need to know is the 12% surcharge so be careful with tipping. Overall great food service and nice location. Every so often on Sunday's, my parents would go out to the Boiling Crawfish for their Sunday Special. Although I've always had it to go, I'm sure their food is just as good as having it in the restaurant! We love shrimp and crab boils so having a place nearby that can do all the work for you is divine! The shrimp are your typical peel and eat kind, then you have juicy smoked sausage, large potatoes, and corn all in a sauce that is amazing! The sauce is the best part! You can tell it's butter based with some Old Bay, and maybe some lemon in there. I could literally drink that sauce if I wanted too. Seriously I could drink the sauce. Sometimes I'm glad we get it to go so I can just have everything soak up all that shrimp boil flavor. Purely delicious. I will update my review when I actually sit down to eat at the restaurant. So, disclaimer, I am NOT a seafood eater, but it's exciting finding a spot where I can get the hubs fed seafood while I can eat as well. We were able to be seated in about 3-4 minutes, ordered a drink and some oysters, garlic toast and fried mac and cheese as apps. I guess we were hungry that day. The wifey loves her seafood, so when we were invited to try out this spot...it was a definite YES! You could call us sea-foodies as we love all the specialities from the sea. So, we throughly enjoyed our experience at Boiling Crawfish. The seafood tasted fresh and was seasoned with a perfect mix of butter, garlic and spices. We seated outside, our preference, and Glenda arrived shortly taking our drink requests. With draught beer requested, she suggested waters as well. The first order of business was ice cold oysters. Tonight was my first time trying this food. I worked all day as an RN (12 hour shift), was exhausted, and just wanted a nice meal and to relax. I asked the hostess to please seat me in the most quiet area of the restaurant. I soon realized that nowhere was quiet as the music is blaring. I could have left but chose to give the place a try. I figured as long as nobody sat next to me being noisy, I can try to ignore the blaring music. It was so loud that I couldn't hear the court case footage of Johnny Depp's court case. Team Johnny here!! Well, two females came in and sat right next to me on the high top chairs. They were soooo loud. They had no consideration for me. I clearly am a nurse (I came in wearing scrubs after getting off work in St. Augustine). I heard them tell the server (who was the bartender) that they came here before and she was so good and that gave her a great Yelp review. The server was pleasant but not attentive. I patiently waited to get her attention so I could get to-go boxes and the check to get away from those loud-mouths. The bartender/server finally came over but kept on a-going, to THEM. She took the noisy women's order first, and I had to stop her to ask for the check and boxes. She went back over to the bar and was entering their order, making me wait. She finally brings back the check, and it was $24.98, which was correct. (I came here alone). I let her run my card and she brings back the receipt for me to sign and I see that the check is $29.98. Whut?! I looked closer and I see a $3 service fee. I walked up to the bar and asked what this charge is. She said that they charge 12% for the "kitchen" staff. Ok, first of all, YOU, Madam Bartender/Server, need to inform your guests of this charge prior to taking any order. Period!! Look at the S-T-O-P sign (of doing honest business). Do not pass GO. Do not collect $200. Secondly, when a guest asks you what it's for, you can at least apologize, or give a fake apology. Then, do your due diligence and report back to your bosses that the clients are complaining about this. Don't just do nothing. I always tip at least 20%. Prior to finding out that I was charged an additional $3 "service charge", I had the intention to of giving her a $10 tip which would have been 40%. After seeing this shady behavior, I thought, "your establishment already charged me 12%. 20% minus 12% equals 8%. If I added the additional 8% then that would mean you, Madam Bartender/Server, would be getting a $2 tip while the 'kitchen staff' gets to divide my 12% amongst themselves. Now who feels duped? It doesn't feel too good when you have money taken away from you, does it?". Even though this is justified for me to leave the remaining 8% for her, I could not do this, even though she deserved it. Had she been honest up front, and allowed me to decide if I want to pay this ridiculous fee, and had I decided to stay, I would have still given her the $10 tip. We all know that the workers cannot help what their idiot, greedy owners are doing, but you can tell them how dissatisfied customers are. When the server purposely failed to advise me, she is now in the category with them and should have to pay the consequence of not getting a good tip. 15%, which I never leave, as it's too small, would have been $3.75. Remember that the remaining 8% would be $2, I would say I was being pretty darn generous giving her a $4 tip. The ironic thing is, I had planned to give her a $10 tip. She just shot herself in the foot by going along with this shady behavior. It's one thing if these people TELL their customers UP FRONT and allow the customer to decide if they want to still place an order, but to be a sneaky-behinded establishment with sneaky staff members, is another. When I left, I told the hostess that the server just cost herself a great tip. The shady girl just said, "they've always charged this". Okay, baby girl, see if I will ever go back. I would give zero stars if this system would allow me. Shame, shame on this establishment. read more

This is actually my first time being in this restaurant and May I say it was fantastic. One of my nursing friends invited me for dinner after finishing our crazy finals. It was a needed retreat. There were a lot of people. It took me awhile to get settled because the parking was full and I had to circle around the parking lot for almost 10 minutes. We were greeted and our food got delivered pretty quickly. They had some promo for that evening so it was pretty sweet. Our server was very kind and went to our table frequently. I ordered the Blue Crab combo. Comes with 4 crabs and 2 of the crabs were bad. They had a rotten, dead crab smell. It was later at night so by the time I got back home and started eating the restaurant had closed. When I called the next day the manager was not helpful at all. After going to The Juicy Crab first on Saturday, then here, my comparison will be pretty tight because both places were my first time going and both places were good but one just so happens to outweigh the other in a small way. The Boiling Crawfish did not offer hand wipes to which I find is quite needed in such a setting. They did offer gloves however that felt too "hospital-like". I'm from Maryland and the motto is Maryland is for Crabs and to use gloves is a taboo. At least all the years I grew up in the DMV (D.C., MD, VA) area, I have never seen anyone eating crabs or any other type of shell fish with gloves on. Doesn't seem real to me. Anywho, enough about the gloves and wet wipes. The Boiling Crawfish has basically one famous sauce in three different vices. Meaning, mild, spicy or hot. The Juicy Crab had a variety of sauces to select from and one of the spicy sauces was able to become non spicy. My sister who has eaten at The Juicy Crab before and has used the spicy sauce said that my non spicy sauce had a better flavor to it. The flavor was out of this world and I absolutely loved it. Now back to The Boiling Crawfish, I will say their menu was full of items that looked delicious and I'm sure it tastes great but I couldn't order everything. My Alaskan Crab Legs were good. I had to dip them in the sauce instead of the sauce Marinating in the bag with my food because of the non spicy option. The potatoes and corn were cooked just right and my mother appeared to love her oysters. I actually love the hushpuppies because they were so big and has a sweat taste to them. Very nice. I definitely took them home for a late night snack. I had a 10% coupon to use for checking in to this establishment but I completely forgot to use it. It will give me an incentive to go back and try them again. They are very close to home. That's a plus. Our items were quite pricey because my mother got the four blue crabs at Market Price and paid $22 for four (4) small crabs!!! We pay $22 for a dozen for medium females back home. Our total bill for just two people was $84.11. They included a 12% service charge which confused me because I usually see this type of charge when I'm visiting another country. WOW! We love seafood and this is another great joint that we have added to our list for good seafood locally. Our friends recommended this place as we also love local seafood restaurant, Juicy Crab. And...we were not disappointed! The atmosphere of Boiling Crawfish is laidback and casual. We like the clean and minimalistic design of Boiling Crawfish compared to Juicy Crab. If you've been to Juicy Crab, you know the ambience is different with their writings on the wall and ship inspired design. We had a pretty good experience here. My wife, daughter, and I stopped in for a bite and really enjoyed the food. The menu has so much more than just crawfish. They have speciality drinks which my wife enjoyed (Hush Punch)! My daughter and I both got the fried baskets , which have a 1,2,or 3 option. The non-crawfish portion of the menu is so reasonably price that with the adult beverage the three of us were able to eat for only $30 bucks! We didn't try them but everyone else seem to be enjoying the crawfish. I see why this place has such great ratings! It's so worth it. It's a medium sized establishment in a strip mall and nice mixed crowd. All the staff seem very young; but sweet and attentive. The seafood boils are so freaking good: due to (1) perfectly cooked seafood - shrimp and mussels still juicy in the center and that (2) sauce is the bomb. I had Cajun medium - the sausages, corn and potatoes were not just there for the sake of it but they were yummy. I began with a dozen of the freshest raw oysters. WARNING: the Cajun Boil does have butter or oil in it, it's rich and darn good but if you can't take butter, you may want to inquire further. We ordered the snow crab combo and one of the orders came out with clusters that was missing two legs and another that was missing 3. When we showed the waitress she called the manager. We speak to the manager and assume the matter is resolved. After 15 minutes or so, they bring out 3 crab legs vice a full cluster (which is 5 legs). So of course we questioned why 3 vice 5 only to find out that the server said that she SAW a full cluster and one that was missing 3. Totally inaccurate. What made this more insulting, the manager said they would have to check the VIDEO to see if there was a full cluster or not. What seemed like an eternity later the manager brings her grainy video and suggest that she sees a full cluster. I saw the video and while you can see something, you could not see 5 legs. At this point I can't believe that they're really making a to-do about two legs (not clusters). We ordered four meals and the leadership at this establishment decided their time was best spent arguing about two crab legs instead of correcting the issue and perhaps implementing some quality control process. To put this in context, The cost of the combo was $45 inclusive 2 snow crab clusters, 18 shrimp, 2 small pieces of corn on the cob, two halves of potatoes and two (2) inch pieces of sausage. It would seem for that price, you would get two full clusters and if there are items missing, the restaurant should gladly replace or make better. Period. Don't forget, there's is also a 12 percent service charge added to each bill. I will not patron this establishment again nor do I recommend it. My goal is not to deter anyone from patronizing this place. The food IS good. The service and value however, is indigestible and unacceptable, especially considering the location! read more

I came to this place with my husband who isn't the biggest fan of seafood so we had a good combination of non seafood items and seafood, I had the shrimp boiling platter. I like mine spicy, I feel like they could be spicier but the flavor is there. Shrimp seems really fresh. The sauce is what makes it, so good! My only complaint is every time I've gotten one here, the corn is always really crunchy. So the presentation is cool, the waiter brings out a big clear plastic bag which has the seasoned oil and low country boil items inside. Our waiter told us how to pour it in the bowl- I saw other waiters do it for the customer (this would have been preferred). Bibs and rubber gloves are provide to keep mess to a minimum - that's a plus. Everything is served on plastic. I don't really care for that. I think my waiter was inexperienced- he brought the lobster cracker opener but no lobster forks and when I asked if they had them he brought out one- there were two of us. I asked him for a knife- again he brought out one. Manager- teach your staff to bring out enough utensils for each customer. They also tack on 12% gratuity which seems like an odd amount and why are you doing that for parties of less than 6?
