Big D. Serviced my Dyson vacuum with a deep clean. I called to see if they offered this service, after having looked online for a few weeks and calling multiple businesses that said they offered it, and the gentleman on the phone said yes, they do deep cleans on vacuums. Hot diggity!! They took about two days to inspect and call me about what they recommended and my vacuum was ready at the end of the week, it's running just like new again. If you haven't had your vacuum cleaned before, I'd recommend doing it and save the cost of buying a new one (which is what I almost did). Great service, fair price, and no hassle. Dropped off a 20 year old Dyson vacuum cleaner for an overhaul. Was finished in a week just as promised. I asked them to check it out and overhaul it. Price was very reasonable for all that they did. I was pricing the clutch, filters and rubber band and just the parts were more than all that they did. Excellent service, great price and they met the service date that they promised. They led me to just the right vacuum to fit my need. I love it (a Riccar)! I have had my vacuum for around 3 years and .I haven't had any problems until now. We took my mom's vacuum in to find out what was wrong. Although the parts were no longer made, they were willing to figure out a work around, but we opted to buy a new one. He gave us some options based on her needs and we were able to try them out. He even graciously showed me some vacuums I was interested in and gave great information even though he knew I was from out of state and would purchase elsewhere. Nathan and Tony are awesome! I have been using Big D Vacuums for about 3 years. I first came In when my beloved Filter Queen died and Wales out with a Riccar Immaculate, which I loved. Spouse had back surgery and needed an upright - Tony and Nathan listed to what we needed and we bought another Riccar which we live. We got cats and tried a Dyson and Oreck pod for litter control (both died) - Nathan had the fix - a Riccar Steward which works wonders. We recently moved to a two story and needed something lighter than our Immaculate canister - Tony and Nathan to the rescue and I just purchased my 4th vacuum from them - a Miele canister and again I'm in love! If you need a vacuum or vacuum service - use these guys. They are great and they have my business for life! read more

The young guy who attempted to check me in for a repair was terrible. Couldn't answer anything. I needed a toggle switch replaced. Pretty simple. But he couldn't answer anything. Low rating for service and repair. Has the attitude that they're the only vacuum repair shop in town so they have no problem being rude to customers. Their repairs are shabby and overpriced. Edit to add after the War & Peace length excuse from Big-D (Seriously, put that kind of effort into customer service and you wouldn't have bad reviews). Foremost, relating anything to animal abuse ("Kicking a cat") shows the zoosadism of the owner. Which explains his hostility. Shortly after I posted the original review I received a nasty message (same length as his response from Big-D trying to tell me I was in the wrong and a lot of rambling that made no sense since he was obviously upset over my review. I bought the vacuum at Vacuums Unlimited in Dallas, not Allen in Feb. of 2017 (nice try, but the original tag IS ON THE VACUUM!). When they went out of business shortly after purchase I came to Big D due to proximity. He also has no clue of the amount of times I've stopped in for spare parts, bags and filters for both my Riccar and my Dyson. Each visit I was hit up, by the owner, for a "tune-up" for both the Riccar and/or the Dyson depending on why I was there. When I would turn these down he would say it was a "stupid decision". These upsells and the owner's worsening hostile attitude already had me looking for another shop. The final repair (that failed) he over-charged me for was close to $100 (I still have the receipt so the owner is obviously lying in his response (2nd EDIT TO ADD: Owner keeps changing his response each time I catch him in a lie)). Same exact repair was completed at another vacuum store for $68. Blaming the age of the unit as a factor and then claiming rough use is contradictory. If the unit was handled so rough why did the OEM part last for 9 years and Big-D's repair only last 16 months? Sub-standard part not authorized by Riccar or a shabby repair? By his own admission the owner hadn't looked at the unit until my arrival. The bag was brand new and there's no way the owner could have "checked it" in the approximate 5 minutes I was there. Nice try but get your facts straight before attacking customers. Sorry, ex-customer as I wouldn't let Big-D work on my Dustbuster now. It was the owner attacking me when I entered the shop. I wanted the vacuum as is. Never raised my voiced to Nathan. If the owner hadn't intervened and became irate he might've found out I was wanting to trade the unit in as-is. We have a Simplicity canister vacuum that we love. We've had it for 7+ years. It's been a workhorse for us. I have several girls with long hair, and so we have to get the hair out of the beater bar on the power nozzle quite often. One of these times, I must have misplaced the clip when I went to put the beater bar back into the power nozzle. I had already been to another vacuum store, but was unable to get the clip. When I went into Big D, I showed them the clip on a power nozzle they had in the store. Fortunately, they had one for me to purchase. I bought it, and a box of bags. I completely understand you being a bit frustrated at a bad review. I apologize, I should have been a bit more constructive in my review / feedback, rather than plainly expressing my disappointment with the overall experience. While I hear you on the operational costs, and the need for you to set your price accordingly, I would also urge you to put yourself in the shoes of the customer, and ask yourself this simple question - "would you, as a customer, pay $40 to service a product that costs only $50". And, I think the answer to this question would help you rethink the way you price your service. Essentially, what you lose on margin by reducing your price, can be made up on volume as more customers would like to get it serviced at a reasonable price. On the bargaining piece, if you recollect, I NEVER bargained with you. I never asked you to lower your price. I was rather only continuously expressing my SHOCK at you quoting $40 to service a $50 product. Nevertheless, your comment makes it look like bargaining is a "cultural" thing. Unfortunately, bargaining is UNIVERSAL, and has nothing to with where you are from. I hope you agree with me on that, as you yourself, as a customer, would have bargained at some point in your life. And, finally, just a quick fact correction - I did not receive any phone calls from you after my review. I did receive your emails to which I have responded. I wish there were more places like this. It is the opposite of a big box store. Very knowledgable, explained all of the options, and not pushy in the least. They stand by the products they sell and service them. I was very impressed that when another customer came it for a part, the owner asked about his kids, and even knew their names. Some of these reviews are completely absurd. I've been a customer at Big D Vacuum Center for over 10 years now and I always bring my equipment and for annual inspections and general service. Every time I go there they treat me right ,the staff that they have is very knowledgeable about all aspects of Floor Care, vacuum cleaners, carpet cleaners Etc. Back in the middle of Sept, I took my 10+ year old Sanyo vacuum to Big D after finding them on Yelp. Power bar not turning. Thought broken belt, but when I took the plate off the bottom, the belt was intact. The guy told me that there would be a $10 estimate charge. After he checked it out, he indicated something was clogged and that the vacuum just needed a good overhaul. Cost $75. I thought that was kind of steep, but the $10 estimate charge would be applied to that. Have to say, it was worth every penny. The darn thing works better now than when I first got it.
