The BEST food and service we had in our week-long stay in Florida. The portions were generous, the sauces and sides were delicious, and all the scratch-made entrees were just scrumptious. We're from Las Vegas, so we've had a lot of good food, but this place ranks right at the top of our very favorite places anywhere. I loved my pulled pork sandwich, and the potato salad was seriously the best I've ever had. My husband and 12-year-old son get burgers everywhere we go, and Big Daddy J's burgers did not disappoint. My pickier 8-year-old and 4-year-old loved the chicken tenders and grilled cheese on the kids' menu. And we all loved the fries and the creamy crack mac! Then the desserts were out of this world! We got a HUGE slice of carrot cake and a chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich to share, and we were blown away by how good those were! Went there for the first time after reading many positive reviews. The reviews are spot on. It was happy hour and they have an outstanding selection of drinks for $5. The food is a little unusual in its presentation but absolutely delicious and plentiful. The Frito Pie on top of a loaded baked potato was tasty and enough for 4 people. Atlantic Ave., Cocoa Beach, FL 32931 4.5 Stars When I learned from oral lore the owner of this establishment is also a franchisee of a Beef O'Brady's, I hoped against hope they would close before it ever popped up in the random name generator. Needless to say, I was apoplectic when it did appear. Sucking it up, I headed north to take one for the team (or so I surmised). Thankfully, Thania (pronounced Tanya) soothed the savage beast within as she was our extremely charming server, sharp as a tack and on point. Thania is officially on the 4th Q best server list. She should offer server classes along with the rest of the 2023 Top 5 List. I asked Thania for one Brined Turkey Grilled Cheese, a Mom's Brisket sandwich and an order of Smoked Crack Mac. Is it just me, or are these names great? Items I missed are Porky Goodness and Frito Pie. Kudos to the creative genius behind the menu! Thania was soon seen approaching, laden with my order. The aromas preceding her were enticing, to say the least. First up on the Big Boy's palate was the Brined Turkey Grilled Cheese sammich. The star in this dish was, by far, the protein. The flavors of the peppercorn, fruit and brown sugar evident in the brine added succulent notes to the perfectly cooked Turkey and melted cheese. The lettuce and tomato were farm fresh, while the bread was toasted to order. The aftertaste from the brine was such that I found it extremely difficult to remove the sandwich from my mitts to continue the job at hand. To that end, I reluctantly placed the Brined Fowl down and moved on to Mom's Brisket sandwich mode as well. It is important to note that the items are available in various ways, from the traditional sandwich to a Chimichanga. Again, the menu is quite adventurous. The Brisket was just as tasty as the Turkey. However, while the Turkey was Brined (soaked in a liquid), it was dry marinaded and hickory smoked to a sumptuous tenderness that caused the meat to almost melt in the mouth. Avoid places that advertise "fall off the bone," as that can only mean the meat is terribly overcooked. What you want is meat so tender. As I said, it practically melts on your tongue. This is the stuff of which legends are born. This brings us to the final two items, the Smoked Crack Mac and the side of Big Daddy's Biscuit Bread. I know mac & cheese is a bit desuetude, but trust me, this is so modern and tasty not to eat it would be a crime. This delightful concoction of the old stand-by consists of five, count them, five different kinds of cheeses blended and then cold smoked. I didn't even know that was possible. Take a gander at the picture of the biscuit bread. That piece was bigger than my hand! Big Daddy J's is giving TLR a damn good run for their money in the category of best biscuit in Brevard and you can take that to the bank. Went to this bar, and there was only one waitress for our entire side of the restaurant. We had to call her over to get refills of drinks and beer. We went to the counter to pay because we could not find her, and she told us to go back to our table and she would come over. We ordered Yeungling beer (as our second beer), and it was old and smelled bad. The food tasted awful. The bbq was watery and had little to no flavor. We played songs on the jukebox, and the owner skipped the songs we payed for. When we asked about it, he was extremely rude. We will not visit this establishment again. read more

We went on a Thursday night and it was pretty busy but we were able to sit right away. The server recommended the one burger on the menu that they had, so my step mom and dad shared one and I got one two, we also got a crack mac to share, and my son had the chicken tenders and fries. We all thought the burger was one of the best ones we've had in a long time if not the best one we've ever had! We could taste that every single thing was homemade. We didn't order anything we didn't like! We just could not stop saying how good the burger was. Most items are served without a side. The fish was a large haddock filet in a thinner cornmeal crust. Which was great,although it was a bit salty. I chose the potato salad as my side. It was a very good Potato salad with eggs, larger pieces of potatoes and not too heavy mayonnaise. I really enjoyed my meal. Two of my group had the Brisket, sandwich I tasted the brisket which was generous serving, thick slices, unfortunately the brisket was a little chewy and a little dry. After being on the beach for several hours (Cocoa Beach) with the family I was famished and we had to find food. Around Cocoa Beach you have so many options. I searched online and found this spot Big Daddy J's 5 Great Things and the menu grabbed me by the soul when I saw they had BBQ pulled Pork and Brisket, say no more fam. The menu is different variations of the same 5 foods, brisket, pulled pork, brined Turkey, Mac and cheese and ground beef and beans for the Frito Pie. This place looks like it was just renovated from a prior restaurant or bar (and I confirmed it was by the awning outside painted black over lettering, apparently it used to be a pizza place) the outside and inside decor was very fresh and new. They have an incredibly beautiful bar with stool tables that are designed like surfboards, lovely painting behind the bar which set the tone for me immediately. Right when you walk into the front entrance you can see a window to the kitchen and the chef (maybe Big Daddy J himself?) greeted us and told us we can sit anywhere we like. Our waitress Hailey was very nice and super attentive. She refilled my soda before I even thought to ask, a Jedi reflex for certain. After what took a good 10 minutes to decide and based on Hailey's recommendation I picked the Brisket sandwich and a side of Mac and Cheese. My wife ordered the same thing and her mother got BBQ pulled pork sandwich. My wife's cousin Manuela and her boyfriend got a chimichanga with pulled pork which looked massive! The brisket sandwich was tender, flavorful and filling. It came on a brioche bun with mayo and very yummy BBQ sauce and tomato and lettuce (I skipped the veggies mwahahaha). The Mac and cheese was delicious and the pasta is cavitappi, there are crumbles of Cheez-It's on top of the Mac and Cheese, and honestly I took them off because it doesn't need it. It's also that I never cared for Cheez-It crackers but it didn't ruin the side at all. Very creamy and smooth Mac and Cheese that perfectly complimented the meal. The icing on the cake was the live music being played which made the ambience even more welcoming and cozy for me. Everyone loved the food and we took the rest to go. The staff I would rate a 5/5 but the food is not very good. We got the gaint spud fully loaded with the mommy's brisket. The cheese was curdled and cold. I think the key thing to note here is that this isn't really a BBQ joint, even though the menu items might suggest otherwise. They call themselves comfort food, and that's a good description. If you visit with that mindset, you probably won't be disappointed. My wife got one each of the Mojo Pork Slider and the Brisket Slider, and both were tasty, but the brisket did not have that amazing bark of a BBQ brisket... it was more like a pot roast.
