We ate here to see if it was similar to the Big Daddy's in Mooresville (which we love). We had heard this one may possibly be under new ownership, and we're a sucker for seafood. There were four of us. We sat on the patio, had a couple cocktails each, the crab dip (recommend - it's very good) and dinner. Our server was very friendly and attentive. My boyfriend and I split crab legs and oysters. The oysters were ok. We asked for a light steam and they were a little too done but we finished them off. The crab legs were phenomenal! I didn't even have to dip the meat in butter. They were cooked to perfection and the flavor was out of this world. Would recommend you give this this place a try. We were greeted by the hosts telling us it would be 45 minutes before they could get us food (including appetizers) because the kitchen was slammed. We chose to stay and enjoy a few drinks. Make no mistake the outdoor patio is the best feature of this place. Two of us ordered daft beer (cold) and the third ordered bottled beer (not cold). The staff were friendly and treated the situation as best they could trying to accommodate us. People around us were getting up and leaving. My grilled fish tacos were fresh and tasty, the (rubber) chicken sandwich not so much and the oyster po-boy oysters were good but not the roll or sides. I have to agree with other posters: this place needs management that knows how to run a restaurant. I would avoid this place unless changes are made. read more

Old, tired, pre-packed fried food. I have had fresher fish from the frozen section of Harris Teeter. Way too expensive ... $20 for a third rate entree. Spent a weekend at Kure Beach. Spent a lot of time at big Daddy's at the outside bar. The food was great and the service friendliness of the servers just as great. Made some friends and had some good times had several different foods and none of which were bad. The fried pickles pause a great appetizer. Love, love, love me some seafood and if I'm in Kure Beach it's Big Daddy's! Last time I went was under the old management and I was cool with it then, but now it's even better. They just opened (literally like last week) so are still getting their sea legs under them, but the food is is awesome and the staff is just great. Fun people, cool atmosphere (it's at the beach people ... so expect some maritime decor) and the seafood is fantastic. Oysters? Yes please! If you like Sriracha (who doesn't? Try the Big Daddy's Fire Shrimp (but have a cold beer handy). The crab cakes are fat and happy ... and so was I after downing two of them! Anyone giving a bad review on here is either a competitor, or should just go eat foie gras on a white table cloth somewhere! This was my first time eating at Big Daddy's in Kure Beach and it will be THE LASTTT!! The server was sweet and polite nothing wrong there. IT WAS THE FOOD!! The food had no seasoning. I ordered the steak and it was DRY AS DIRT. I'm so disappointed in this place and I expected it to better since every time I come to Kure Beach it's always closed. I ask the server to take the steak off and I would pay for my sides. She said that "she had to talk to her manager" then the manager came out and told me the GM over her said he wasn't going to take it off. Which is completely stupid because I only ate one bite!!! She then told me that she thinks I shouldn't have to pay for it either so she give me half off my dinner. I'm fine with that but the general manager needs to get his shit together if he wants to keep people in that place. It's sad that I had to pay for something I DID NOT EAT!!! What's with all the bad reviews? I swung by for lunch and found the Big Daddy's Pub Burger to be very respectable and reasonably priced. If your looking for world-class seafood with a Fifth Avenue atmosphere then this probably isn't going to be the place for you. Have been going to Kure Beach for a while and finally decided to go to Big Daddy's. The food is sub par. But the manager is the issue. She's extremely condescending and rude. She never seems like she wants to work in a customer service industry. They are opening at 4 pm during COVID to clean their restaurant and recently we tried to go and wait outside and my friends and I were be-raided and told we were confused when we asked her if we could sit at a table outside while we waited for them to open. Regrettable experience in this place. We had a rookie as server, who, among other big mistakes: 1) forgot to ask how cooked my daughter's hamburger had to be; 2) forgot to ask the side for the hamburger, 3) we had to ask twice for the ketchup and we've never received it; 4) brought the wrong sodas to the table; 5) never offered straws for our drinks. The food? Even more regretful than the service. My wife ordered an appetizer consisting of crab and lobster that we had to return because it smelled like rotten fish -no apology or compensation offered whatsoever- the hamburger was overcooked, and the server -again- lasted an eternity to bring my wife the menu again so she could order something else after the rotten crab/lobster salad. Tired of waiting, I've shared with her my scallops florentine which were somehow edible. Strong recommendation: avoid this place. Unlike some reviewers I don't care for hush puppies and I dare say some people would not eat them and that would be a waste. So we stopped in today and got burgers and a drink. I got the southern burger and sweet potato fries. Gotta day that's the food was pretty good. The meat was actually seasoned unlike a lot of other burger places and the fries were pretty good. The only negative I have is that the service wasn't the best. My family and I thought this place was great. It was a bit pricy, but the food was fresh and really tasty. We were happy with the presentation too. I'll post pictures. The kids had cheeseburger and chicken plates off of the kids' menu. My wife and I shared a seafood combo platter. We had the flounder, fried oysters, and fried crab meat. It was all very flavorful, and the portion sizes were great. The flounder was nice and flakey. The staff was really friendly. Terrible service! We waited an hour and fifteen minutes from the time we ordered our lunch until the time it arrived. The waiter barely showed his face the entire time, and neither he, the hosts, the manager on duty nor the OWNER did anything about it (except give excuses that the kitchen was backed up). They didn't offer to comp our meal or any part of it or give us a discount or a free dessert - absolutely nothing! The food was overpriced and just OK - not great. Some of the French fries were undercooked and the tortillas were straight out of the bag and not even warmed. What was really surprising was that the owner argued with me that they shouldn't have to do anything because the food was "a little slow" (he even said we should "take this outside"!). This is the worst meal I have had in a long time. The flounder didn't look or taste like flounder. There were only 9 small popcorn shrimp on my plate, I looked under my fries to see if I missed any. Disappointed that deviled crab was not listed as an option for seafood combo. Husbands steak was rarer than he would like but he said he didn't want to send it back because others were sending food back and it still wasn't coming out correct and management didn't appear to be doing anything about it. The service was subpar at best...drink refills, table maintenance, follow-up were terrible. Our server informed us that our initial orders for two of the dinners were unavailable 10-15 minutes after we ordered so we had re-order. Received the dinners all broken up and my wife never received her dinner. The server was apologetic, but there was no manager to be seen or approach us to address the issues. I believe this place only stays in business because of it's location. The food that we did receive was "okay" but not worth the hassle. We all ordered burgers, one Carolina Coast, one KB burger and one Big Daddy Burger, we also got onion rings, fries and sweet potato fries. The order was ready at the time they stated and our food was great except my KB burger was supposed to be medium well and it was more medium rare than well. Don't waste your money! We had a party of 10. My husband's $30 seafood plate was over cooked (scallops were fried nearly black) and small for $30. My friend got wings for her daughter and they were not cooked all the way (they took these off bill). We had two kids shrimp meals and one had way more food than the other. This was all after waiting 30 mins for a table, only to be brought to a back room that had plenty of seating and was completely empty. The good part was the service. Our waitress was awesome. I had a fantastic experience at Big Daddy's. Parking was a breeze; they have 2 public lots out back. There were 8 of us and they immediately seated us inside the restaraunt. Food was served fast and was great. The portions are HUGE! I have seen reviews where people complain about some of the dishes. Here is my suggestion, don't eat fried seafood. You are doing yourself a disservice. I had the broiled scallops and they were delicious. I followed it up with a piece of keylime pie that was top notch.
