    a breakfast menu

This is the greasiest of the greasy spoon diners I've been to so far. The ripped faux leather seating and the cheap wallpaper give the place a very grim character. Big Daddy's is situated in Richmond Hill's industrial heartland, adjacent to Apotex and near the train tracks. Driving through this area always reminds me of the Sopranos opening theme! The patron demographic ranges from retirees to tradesmen, with a family or two in the mix on the weekends. Now, there is not much you can you can get wrong with a regular egg and sausage breakfast, or so I thought! The home fries tasted very starchy and were more baked than crispy. The sunny side up eggs had tremendous amount of snot, for lack of a better term. And as I bit into the sausages, I felt bits and pieces with a cartilaginous texture. Everything was super greasy! I think I could have squeezed out a cup of butter from just about anything on my plate. The service, on the other hand, was top-notch. The waiter must have came by five, six times to top off my coffee. It is very clear that Daddy's isn't out there to look pretty and please the masses. In fact, I think very few Richmond Hillians know about this place. They've been doing quite well with their regular crowd for a long time now, and I'd imagine they will continue to do so for some time to come. For me, it just didn't do it.

    Lumberjack!

It's Saturday morning and I came with few friends here because we decided that we want to go somewhere for breakfast. The place is your usual diner. They do have all day breakfast which is nice. I ordered the Lumberjacks breakfast which came with a choice of coffee or a juice, pancakes, 3 fried eggs, 3 slices of bacon, 3 sausages, 2 ham and a toast all for $9.49. Pretty sweet if you ask me! You can never go wrong with breakfast. I'm so full right now I'm going to skip lunch today.

Good all day breakfast place, moderate prices and decent food. Service can be quite slow though. Kind of a run down looking place.

Dependable oldschool diner/roadhouse/bar. Has a charmingly seedy ambiance, and the food isn't bad either.

Arrived here at 9am with a friend and we were the only ones here so I was kinda surprised that it took awhile for our food to come out... When we arrived it was busy and there was one table open near the entrance and were told we could have that table once it had been cleared. There person who seats you also takes your order, brings your order to the table and clears the table. There was another person preparing drinks and we only saw him come out from behind the counter when there were no drink orders. It took a while for her to clear our table. At one point she stood behind the counter with a look on her face that could be best described as '...what do I do first..' What was ordered: Kale Caesar Salad - fresh croutons with generous bits of bacon; very lightly dressed Chicken and Waffles - 2 drumsticks and a breast served with 4 pieces of waffle and a small side salad Shrimp Eggs Benny - 2 deep fried shrimp patties; served with baby potatoes and a side salad The chicken was very crispy and still juicy but based on the colour of the fry the oil needs to be changed. It came with 2 small containers of syrup (not real maple syrup) and some that looked like plum sauce. The potatoes on the eggs Benny were good but when you deep fry the shrimp patty you wonder what other filler there might be in the patties. Service was decent despite the fact that there was one person who served and cleaned. An okay experience....not sure it warrants another return.

We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door and the "owner" had the biggest smile. The menu was quite impressive with all the selections but definitely a bit pricer than other brunch places. I mean all brunch places are pretty expensive now... Portions were HUGE!! I got the hot tiramisu latte although iced was recommended. It came with the donut top and a finger lady. It was pretty delicious. Also got the strawberry smoothie which came in a plastic cup, so I guess it's more meant for kids. The wedges were a bit soft though.. I wish it was a bit more crispy. I would say it's more asian fusion than your typical western style brunch restaurants. I think it's worth trying if you're in the area.

But the egg was a bit overcooked, so not as runny as an authentic omurice. The croquette was very runny and a little too sweet. The Hojicha Latte was perfect though! Not too milky and had a subtle sweetness. Probably should have ordered one of their Soufflé Pancakes, but we were already full from our meal. It was lunch time, so the parking lot was pretty busy, but still able to find spots a little further away from the restaurant itself

The vibe inside is cozy and relaxed with a modern café-bistro feel. It's bright, welcoming, and definitely lives up to the name "Chillax." It feels like the kind of place you can sit and enjoy a slow brunch or a casual dinner without feeling rushed. For brunch, two dishes really stood out. The braised pork eggs Benedict was fantastic. The pork was tender and flavorful, and it paired perfectly with the creamy hollandaise and poached eggs. The gochujang fried chicken brioche burger was another highlight. The chicken was crispy with just the right amount of spice, and the soft brioche bun tied everything together. We also came back for dinner and tried the seafood paella, which was rich, comforting, and packed with seafood. It's definitely a great dish to share. For drinks, the cheesy mango ice matcha was surprisingly good. The mango adds sweetness while the cheese foam makes it creamy and indulgent. A really unique combination that works well. Prices are pretty reasonable for the quality and portion sizes, with most dishes around the $20-$30 range. Overall, it's a great spot for brunch, dinner, or just drinks. I'll definitely be coming back to try more of the menu!

The restaurant was 3/4 empty and I asked for a table further away from the door. The male waiter insisted we sit beside the cash after I kept asking to sit in the back. Note, there was a whole back row of empty tables in the L shaped dining area which would be further from the windy cold day outside. Nope, I do not get it. My companion asked for eggs and bacon with another two sides of bacon, the waiter did not seem to want to take the order for the two extra sides, he said each side was 4 pieces. Yes, we understand and insisted several times before he wrote the order. I wanted the bacon and sausage poutine but if I could switch the fries for potato hash. That was a challenge. I said we'd cover any substitution fees. It was the bacon and hash with extra sausage basically. Thanks for the whole onion mixed into the hash. Onion to potato ratio 1:1. The orders didn't come at the same time. The two sides of bacon came first and some time later his meal and my meal came. Odd. It was all pretty mediocre food. Who knew breakfast could be so difficult. It didn't feel welcoming. It felt like we were annoying him. I will say the female behind the counter was nice. She topped up our coffee frequently.
