I've worked in rescue in a past life and these guys are top notch. Reading all the "bad" reviews from people who didn't get approved to be adopters because they use prong collars or don't neuter their pets -- please!! I'm soo over the moon this rescue has standards AND the follow up information they provide adopters about everything related to good dog care is amazing too. I especially appreciated the home visit and the thoughtful questions they asked me. Here is our big boy and we looovvvveeee him!!!

Really great organization. Easy to work with. And so so so helpful. Everyone I talked to was super nice. Reached out with questions got instant answers. And now have the biggest best new member of our family. Do the research on this rescue and you will find they are outstanding in the community and treat theses rescues like family

I adopted a 5 year old Saint Bernard from BDHP in 2013. She had been neglected and was struggling with some food intolerance. BDHP worked with a local vet to identify the problem and supported me as I changed her diet. Ellie's personality began to emerge as she felt better. She was a fantastic friend and family member. When I lost her in 2018 to cancer I applied again to BDHP. I adopted a Mastiff at that time and, once again, found the process to be thorough, the volunteers professional, friendly, and knowledgeable, and my new fur kid a delight! They are always here to support me no matter what my need, question, or concern.

We just adopted a super sweet senior great dane/lab mix from BDHP and it couldn't have gone better! We were able to talk to her foster mom and get all of our questions answered and even got to meet her prior to adoption which was great because we have a 1 year old daughter so that was important to me. As soon as we made the decision to adopt, we were able to get her 2 days later. Her foster mom brought her to us with all of her food, meds and bed and explained everything we needed to know. We got a really great dog and are so happy with our decision! It feels great to adopt such a sweet pup and give her the best years of her life!

I absolutely loved working with BDHP when adopting my new dog. Yes, it's true they are very thorough in their evaluation of candidates, but it's because they want to ensure each dog is going to a home and family that is prepared to care for a large breed dog. My process took approximately 3 weeks. It included a detailed application, references, a phone interview, and a home inspection. Once I was approved, then I was eligible to request available dogs on the site. BDHP was so helpful answering questions about the girl I was interested in, connecting me with the foster home to learn more about her personality, and even used their large network of volunteers to transport her 600 miles to my town. Please keep in mind everyone with BDPH is a volunteer, and considering this, I was so impressed with how quickly we received communications from them. So happy to have found them and would absolutely adopt through them again!

This is Zoe, one of two dogs that we adopted from Big Dogs Huge Paws last February. Sweetest dog EVER (Don't tell her sister!)

My 12lb Yorkie, Huckleberry, is the cutest bundle of energy that I could have the honor of owning…read more But he is sometimes aggressive, can be a handful, and is easily triggered. When I first chatted with Jane she told me she owned cats and I was afraid that Huck would be too feisty towards them. However within minutes of being in Jane's home, it was obvious that she is truly the mama bear/pack leader and all animals become harmonious little angels in her presence. I now get pictures of my dog sleeping next to cats and I see him walking side-by-side with them, totally unphased. Jane has watched my dog for extended vacations (2-3 weeks at a time) and has him over for daycare once a week. Daycare is seriously his favorite day of the week. He runs to Jane's door and bangs into it, demanding to be let in. He can barely keep his eyes open when I pick him up because he's had such an eventful day! Things unique to Jane's boarding/daycare: * Crate free atmosphere. Dogs sleep with her or wherever they like. * Backyard time * Dog park visits * She cares about your dogs behavior/growth and will work with your dog to help them get over fears, aggression, bad behavior, etc. * Unlike daycare or boarding in "corporate" places, your dog is active all day long. At corporate places, my dog would be in a holding room and cycled out for playtime so he wasn't getting exercise all day. My personal experience: * Huck is less aggressive for a few days after daycare. * My dog is usually one of the smallest dogs at her house and it's been great to get him exposed to other large breeds or breeds that he previously took issue with. * Peace of mind that my dog is getting some quality off leash time. Jane takes the dogs to the dog park in small groups and sometimes he gets to go multiple times a day. * Relief that my dog can be a dog and I don't have to worry about his behavior. If I take my dog to the dog park, I'm constantly worried he'll attack a dog. When he's with Jane, he behaves well since he's in a pack and isn't being protective over me.

We've bought two puppies from them about 15 years apart and both of them had serious medical issues. Most recently we had to put down within 10 months of getting her. The person that was talked to at the store had no empathy that dog had died and said well that happens sometimes. you're required to sign a one year guarantee that if the pet passes away within that time, you may be entitled to a refund. That form right there seems wrong of itself Despite the puppy having a genetic disorder, no one has zero empathy that your pet just died no matter how old it is. When you get defensive right off the bat about having to sign a piece of paperwork, you know you're doing something wrong. I hope the pain of guilt you felt when we told you that Chloe died sticks with you for the rest of forever. They said they were not going to change any of their practices and have been doing the same thing for over 50 years. This is extremely concerning to me and will be reported to the local Humane Society the Better Business Bureau and anyone else we can think of in order to stop puppies from being sold at this location. Whatever your reply is business owner you can't stop us now. Enjoy looking at the puppy that you is no longer with us.

Genuinley never got a "hi welcome in", a smile, or any kind of indication that as a customer, new one at that is welcome in their store. I was fed up with this by the last time I had gone on Thursday 03/26/25, I had spent an absurd amount of money on drift wood and plants after feeling like a bother walking in once again, the guy that helped me was so disregarding of my presence so I felt like I couldn't just say, "never mind, this custoner service is not up to any standard". they clearly don't care about customers other than the profit they make off of them. sad to see this in small businesses like such, but it's not all of them. About Fish in Westminister is an amazing choice for fish stores in denver, despite it being a busy Saturday, they came up to me to help and made the entire experience comfortable for me. Do better AquaDog.

We used Denver Pro Pet Sitting while we were on vacation and it was an absolute lifesaver. They checked in on our cats, made sure everything was taken care of, and sent updates that made it clear our little furballs were living their best lives while we were gone. Reliable, communicative, and clearly people who genuinely care about animals. It's such a relief knowing your pets are in good hands instead of just hoping the automatic feeder doesn't become their new enemy. 10/10 would trust them with our cats again. Nelson and my sitter were absolutely amazing in handling the situation with urgency, care, and communicated with me the best they could given my limited availability. I hope I never have another emergency when I'm gone, but if I do, it's Denver Pro Pet Sitting I want taking care of my pets. Finally, they do their best to assign the same sitter every time. I first noticed my dog was coming home with tons of energy when it use to be he crashed as soon as he was in the door. Then the daily text messages with pics of my pup unexpectedly stopped. Where it use to be every holiday or sport season was celebrated with dog costume photo shoots or other events, none have occurred in over two months. The last straw was when I picked up my pup last week and he reeked of dirty dog kennel. If anything, the dogs previously always smelled of whatever flowery odor powder they would spray on them before. During one pickup I was told a team from Austin were training at the location. Then two weeks later all the staff I knew were gone and I was told the franchise was under new ownership. While the new family owners are nice, the whole shop seems understaffed and drastically changed. I was willing to pay the high amount they charge because the pup was happy and the services were over the top, I'm now looking for another location that is either the same high level service the shop use to be or the current service level at a more appropriate price.
