Danny is a reliable guy. I just did all chrome parts of 1956 Dodge including the bumpers. Yes, things can go wrong but he owns it and tries to correct it. He is not sending the parts to Mexico which meanwhile all chromers at the West Coast do. Prices are allright as long as you asking for regular factory chrome. I did in the last 10 years at least 15 cars with him. They all came through good. read more

In my opinion, this guy is a complete crook. He does not have a chrome plate shop and instead he uses chrome1 located at 2800 mlk blvd in Lynwood. He promised show chrome and promised 5 day turn around. I gave him a mint straight two piece rear bumper with average factory chrome. Five days turned into 3 months. He had everything wrapped in triple plastic. When I returned home I opened the plastic only to find rust, peeling chrome, burned chrome, and a heavily bent bumper-- that i do not believe was mine. He tried again only to make it even worse. This time chrome over chrome, there were grinder marks, pitting, bubbles, rust, etc. The third time I met him at that filthy chrome shop that has no chemical ph logs that could be produced. The place was a mess. After a week I went back to that shop to pick up my bumper and go elsewhere. I was told my bumper was not there because Danny Gaitan picked it up after acid etching to do something to it. The shop knew the bumpwe was bent and bad chrome, but said that "Danny only wanted the cheap chrome." Now Danny refuses to answer his phone and we are three months into this bait and switch garbage. His reviews are consistently poor. He also lied when he said he does chrome work for a major classic car dealer in orange county. They never heard of him. Run from this bait and switch chrome pimp liar! I an not only out $1200 plus a $3000-$5000 bumper. read more

Dan's chrome shop does a nice job and for the amount of money that he charges it's a great job. I have restored car professionally for over 40 years. Most of my chrome plating was done by Queen City Plating here in Seattle. A small bolt would cost $20.00 a pitted door handle would cost $300 to $400. Their Work was perfect. Most of the cars that my shop did went to Pebble Beach and all of the cars won. Big D's is not a Queen City but for the money he darn close. He has done the plating for me for 3 years and I have not had to send back one part and he has not lost any parts. He does try hard to please and it wouldn't hurt to give him a try. Met Dan at the Portland Swap Meet, he said he could chrome anything to show quality, including pot metal, I gave him the first of many parts from a 49 cad. maybe a total of 45 parts, He had to redo a lot of the all most half of parts and some of them still having issues, he replaced some parts that where not even mine with out telling me, Most of the parts are not plated on the backs and are rusting after only a few mouths not even in the elements. Even the grill I had him do for the car is not plated on the back but painted silver. He said he was going to return a show quality grill assembled but it came back to me missing bolts. The whole trans action was stressful. I would ask him question of quality in emails he would respond by saying he can not read them. Every part I sent him has problems. He engraves him name on the back of each part for some reason? He tells every one he and his family run and own the chrome shop. But why would you engrave his name on every part? Even when I was to meet him to pick up my grill the next year at the swap PDX I ran into 3 others that had the same issues with quality and honesty. I had to document each part and now will have to fight in small claims court to see if I can get them replaced some how. To this day he still holds 3 or 4 parts that he never returned. I with held a few hundred bucks from our final payment. Told him about the quality problems and issue with each part sent him pics. And he seems not solving the issues at any reasonable offer I provide. Only to fight about the issues. I would not use this Person for Chrome, As I think his quality control just is not present. It seems like he just pick the parts up some place and ships them out. In the end I might have to replace half my parts. And the other half just deal with really bad quality and maybe at some point sell the car as it is painful for me to think about how much money I paid for such low quality! read more

This is the last person that you ever want to chrome your parts. He takes forever to return your parts, and the quality of the plating house that he uses in horrible. I challenge you to find one good yelp review. I am going to sue him in Small Claims Court next week. He had the never to tell me that if I wanted my parts, I would have to drive from downtown Los Angeles to Santa Fe Springs, only after I had made an appointment with him. This guy is a total scum bag. If I ever run into him at Pomona or the Long Beach swap meet, I will stand in front of his booth and tell everyone that stops to stay away from him. When he picked up my parts, his bid was so high that I told him to forget it. He lowered his price immediately by $500.00, so I thought that I would try him. Met Danny at Pomona swap.Tried out with a few chrome pieces and some powder coating.Parts were ok so dropped off some OG Porsche cap to b chromed.One was already chromed and used,the other four where brand new from Porsche dealer in Norwalk ca. After 2 months of getting the run around, danny texts and says parts are ready.When I go to pick up he's not there.One week later we agree to have me pick up at his house.When I call he says he left them at his shop.We agree to pick up at his shop the following morning.He's 30 minutes late and parts he gives me are all pitting and bubbling.We agree that they need to be redone.One month later he texts and says two caps were damaged but he will repair.A few more weeks of getting the run around and him expecting me to track down pieces to repair his screw up I just ask for the parts back.When I pick them up they were so screwed up they are no longer usable His attitude was "hey,i didn't make any money". He tells me he went ahead and polished them which they ground down the Porsche emblem and part of the design it is unusable.The mounting tabs on three of the caps were literally destroyed.Stay away from this so called business man as he has no respect for peoples time and has no ideal what customer satisfaction is.One more thing, he tells me the caps where not brand new and that they where used.I have the receipt from the Porsche dealer and am now out money and parts... read more

He works Swap Meets and car shows. He also picks up and drops off your parts along the I-5 Corridor. I had a successful dealing with him in 2012. He did some bumpers. In 11/2013 I gave him a cathedral molding for a 1965 Riviera, a piece of stainless to be polished and two Pillar Plates to be chromed. I told him there was no hurry. In 2/2014 I asked him how he was doing. He promised to bring them through on his trip in March. No word. I asked him what happened he told me He got no answer when he called. This is BS since I have caller ID and can see missed calls. He promised to bring them through in April. I met him on I-5 and he had the 2 pillar plates and had messed up the cathedral molding. We settled on a solution for the molding and he was not able to locate the stainless. He promised it would be ready in May. He e-mailed me and said he would mail it. I asked to return the unfinished parts. He promised to mail them. He didn't do it and now refuses my calls and ignores e-mail. If you see the back of his truck it is no small wonder he loses things they are just thrown in there. read more
