These company very unprofessional, I ask for an estimate to get my bumper chrome and these people gave me a ridiculous price which it would cost more than to buy a new. Ernesto who helped me told me if I didn't like the estimate to go buy the bumper. Who in the heck is he to tell me what to do. Very unprofessional. I got referred to them as a good business I guess not. I'm trying to chrome my original bumper to save me a buck on buying a new one which is not an original. I take my business somewhere else. I took two parts from a vintage chair to get re chromed. As soon as I showed one of the men the part I got the run around about how the politics of the shop didn't allow him to take it apart because they were screwed on together. I told him it was fine if he did it. He then told me it was going to cost me 260 dollars to get both parts chromed and that I was going to have to take it apart myself. I said ok and decided to get a second opinion. I went to Lax wheel refinishing. Showed them the parts, no if's, ands or buts, and charged me 100 dollars. It opened my eyes about how shady people can be. I can't speak on D&R's quality of work but I can say that it was a shady experience. If they didn't want to do the work they should've just told me off the bat. I never leave bad reviews on any business but i don't want anyone else getting ripped off. read more

They did an excellent job on repairing the chrome on my 69 el Camino! A ton of it was heavily pitted and stained and scratched like crazy... and man, they did such a good job now I gotta paint the car because I feel bad putting all the chrome back on without some fresh paint.. absolute pleasure to work with and punctual on the time of completion, would highly recommend! These folks are the greatest. I drove down there to try to get a 50 year old, very hard to find, elastomeric (Rubber Coated) bumper for my 1971 Plymouth Cuda straightend. This was a rare option that had the bumper the same color as the car and with a more stylish design. Ford did it on their Mach ones in the front. This bumper was tweaked a bit and would not line up with the body lines. I tried on my on press to straighten it but no luck. I crossed my fingers and took the ride. Expecting to leave the bumper with them, I did not have any cash in my wallet. The guy dropped what he was doing and spent a good 5 minutes working it with his press with a fantastic outcome. They did not charge me and like an idiot only had $8 cash. I gave him that hopefully for lunch for the time being, but I will take care of him better when I get my chrome pieces ready to get plated. Some of their chrome work was getting wrapped for some customer and it looked Phenomenal. Good platers are hard to find. These guys rock!! read more

I took a vintage car grill to D&R for re-chroming. Was told it would be ready in two or three weeks. Got it back two months later. They told me they would guarantee repair if it started peeling. Started peeling about 4 weeks later. Took it back. They inspected it and told me they would take care of it. Several days later, they called me and claimed that my body shop guy caused the peeling and they would now have to charge me an extra $200. The grill had not been installed and my body guy never touched it. It took D&R another four or five weeks to re-chrome the same piece. Six months later the same piece started peeling again. Won't go back and pay a third time for work that should have been done right the first time. update: Took the grill to another plating shop where I was told that the plating done by D&R was inferior. D&R advertises a 3-stage process. The new shop said one piece had only 1-stage and the other pieces, although 3-stage had very little material applied which resulted in failure. read more

I used D&R for all the chrome on my '69 Datsun Roadster - bumpers, grille, headlight scoops, quarter-windows, hubcaps, etc... I had them do the work in probably 4-5 separate lots. I always got the pieces back within two weeks, and after three years I've had no peeling - everything still looks brand new. As to the the quality, I've won either "Best of Show" or my class category in 3 of the 4 cars shows I've entered (all large shows). I have no affiliation with anyone there at all - I just had a good experience with them. read more

It's not that their quality is crap, because it's good. It's the fact that they trick you to get a better price, but make you think you're getting a deal. For example. I have a 59 Chevy pickup truck. Needed the hood emblem re-chromed. Sent multiple close up pictures in an email. Was quoted $130. I send them the emblem on my dime. Then they get it, make excuses, and nearly triple the price. I'm stuck. I needed it rechromed, so I reluctantly pay the high price. Rather than ship it around to chromers and waste more money. Excuse was, "It was worse in person"? How so, when I sent close up pictures of the pitted emblem originally? Lesson learned. Suck them in with a low price, come back with a high price. Don't appreciate this tactic at all. So I will never ask for their service again because of this. SHOPPER BEWARE! read more

I took these guys bumpers off a 49 ford Woodie I just bought, they had been painted and I wanted chrome. I had them stripped and they were a mess, dented, and holes that were revealed after stripping. They turned water into wine---couldn't believe it. I have had (4) batches of chrome done for me by Ricardo. I have (4) cars : "55 Nomad, '57 Nomad, '57 Ford Del Rio Ranch Wagon and a '34 3-window coupe. I have been restoring cars since 1971 and D&R Chrome is heads and feet better than everyone else. They triple-plate and chrome the backside of each piece ... only chrome shop I have ever known to do this ... usually you have to silver-paint the backside. Don't waste time and money on these other poor quality shops. Get it done right. Nothing is done in Tijuana , all done in the U.S.A. and you know what the E.P.A. costs run! I had the front and rear bumper redone and they quoted me 1/2 what some other shops wanted and they turned out absolutely perfect. When i dropped them off there was some surface rust and a couple dents and it took less than 3 weeks to come back in show condition. Better than new. read more
