Yesterday, I joined friends for lunch at Big Easy BBQ. It's tucked away in an unusual location (very close to the Tractor Supply store), but it came highly recommended. Upon entering the restaurant, we found the staff to be welcoming, and the food to be delicious. I had the pork sandwich and my friends had the pork plate and the meatloaf. The special of the day was shredded pork tacos, and although we didn't try them this time, we noticed that several other diners were enthusiastically eating theirs. As for the wait time for our food, it was minimal, and we appreciated the fact that the owner took the time to stop by our table. The bill didn't break the bank, either. Big Easy BBQ is truly a gem of a restaurant. We are delighted to highly recommend them and we will definitely be back! read more

So the poutine fries were pretty good. The ribs were ok but need sauce for sure. Luckily there is plenty of sauce on the table. The kids meals are iffy. My cheese burger loving kiddo ate half and said it just was ok but not juicy. My other kiddo had the corn dog bites and well ate half of one and spit it out. I don't have a favorite restaurant. However Big Easy is 99 & 44/100% along the path to reach that status. The food is very flavorful (spicy) so I was very happy to find that I had no heartburn, not even any afterglow. The food is outstanding and exciting. Also, the service is wonderful!! We had a great "Mother's Day" lunch. We tarted with the fried pickles, excellent flavor. We then had the brisket nachos, catfish fillets, and shrimp and crawfish etoufee. They all had wonderful flavor and perfect portions. The service was on point from start to finish. The ambiance is family friendly just as you want your BBQ eatery to be. I stopped in at Big Easy BBQ for their Thursday night burger special. I ordered their smokehouse burger special with fries for only $10. This burger was on the money. This was my second trip to the Big Easy . Once again the atmosphere was great and the service was very pleasant. Looking forward for my next trip there. read more

Had to come back. It was hard not to order the corn dish again (delish!), but wanted to try the coleslaw. It was fresh and definitely good but nothing noteworthy. (Tried a splash of the Alabama sauce in the coleslaw and that really hit the spot.) They upped their game on the bun for the brisket sandwich and it was much better. Thanks for that! My husband had the daily special - burnt ends - and it was smoky goodness. I'll be back to try something new and I'm sure I won't be disappointed. read more

Sadly, the food was a huge miss for me. The service was good but it was one of the most disappointing meals I've had in a very long time. Tried the fried gator bites, have never had alligator before. The meat itself was pretty bland but overall it was ok. Worth trying but I would never order again. The bayou salad was unappetizing. I didn't enjoy a single ingredient in this salad. Did not like the lettuce or the dressing. The crawfish was very small and I didn't get any of the crawfish taste over the salad. The chilled shrimp was not a good addition. I tried a bite of the pulled pork and was underwhelmed. When it comes to the bread on a bbq plate I personally do not understand why a restaurant would serve plain white bread, it has no taste. I would enjoy Texas toast with butter though. The bill was about $50 for 1 appetizer, 2 entrees and 1 soft drink. $50 for food I would not want to eat again. The design of the restaurant was pleasant enough but the overhead fans made it pretty chilly. It was also difficult to get toilet paper out of the dispenser in the bathroom. Ohhhhh! This place is really good! Watch out local BBQ, this place is going to give you some competition. The service is friendly, decor cute (check out the poker pic on back wall!!!! And love the drift wood lights!!! -sourced local Marketplace - Driftwood) we got seated right away, sweet tea with lemon , the menu has alligator and all, we tried it-delish! Loved the dipping sauce!!!! And the Brunswick stew was very full of flavor. I got the pulled pork which is a good size and loved the seasoned fries. The bbq sauce is so good! Sweet and spicy! I loved the Cajun influence (grew up in LA). Will have to come back to try the gumbo and other cajun goodies. But back to BBQ, it was smiles just right, not greasy, and busting with flavor. The smash burger was so so good and lots of flavor there too! You don't have to worry about dinner if you go for lunch, portions size Is good. The owner stopped by to welcome us and chat. Local southern gentleman, super friendly! They didn't seem to be open only three days, they got it going on! Support local and check this place out. So pleased with our visit! The food was great - we had the fried alligator, jalapeño hush puppies, chicken wings, shrimp po boy and the toffee bread pudding, a coke and a beer. All this for only $60!?!Will definitely be back. Can't beat the price of the BOGO wings on Wednesdays. read more

Went here today for lunch. My wife and I shared a brisket /chicken plate with cole slaw and red beans and rice as sides. I'm from Texas, and have always loved brisket - the brisket today was some of the best I've had since moving to GA. It was sliced thick, just right amount of fat - amazing. The slaw was fair, but bland. The red beans and rice were fantastic - had pieces of sausage mixed in that really spiced it up. The sauces were all very good. Prices were extremely reasonable. First off I'll start by saying I haven't dined inside yet and I've ordered takeout twice, two Friday nights in a row. I've been thoroughly impressed each time. :) I had the catch fish dinner and it was delicious although I'm not a huge fan of corn. The gator bites were okay but my husband enjoyed them both times. We had the wings w/bbq sauce, if you like a little sweetness with tangy and spicy, these are for you! The shrimp po boy was GREAT, and the bread tasted fresh and not heavy at all. I can't believe I ate the whole thing. :) Fries aren't on the menu but they have them and they are seasoned well. Jambalaya was better than any I've had outside of NOLA. So far so good for Hickory Flat. The prices are reasonable and the food exceeded my expectations both times! read more

We've been here a few times now and it's been good. The best items on the menu are the BBQ plate and the shrimp/grits. Service has been great even when they are busy. And they do get busy cause this is just about the only option. Located in the former Shane's BBQ location, it's so good to have more options to eat in hickory flat. The Wendy's and Bojangles nearby are practically shutdown and the chic fila is always overwhelmed. This BBQ place is a welcome addition to hickory flat which has suffered greatly for dining options. It's been so long it brings a tear to my eye. I hope this place doesn't close. I'm tired of driving to Roswell or Alpharetta to eat something good. read more

FABULOUS! I had no idea what to expect. I read reviews, but too many times they are not correct. Big Easy BBQ is the real deal - engaging servers, food that compliments itself in that it blends well together. The mac& cheese pairs well with the Jalapeno slaw. You can have a "sides" plate and it makes the perfect meal. The grits were made right/correct, as was the cornbread (Southerners know of what I speak). Excellent blackened chicken, shrimp, and andouille Cajun creamy bow tie pasta. I also got to try the jambalaya as well and it is amazing with the heat and the bonus pulled pork included in with the regular jambalaya ingredients. My son, who is very picky, and ranks chicken tenders wherever we go, loved yours and would love to see an adult portion option as he will put down quite a few before full! We just tried Big Easy and it is fabulous! We shared a pulled pork plate with fries and jalapeño Cole slaw and added cornbread. It was all so delicious! We can't wait to go back. The Cole slaw had a strong kick to it which made it unusual and awesome! The cornbread was delicious. Pork was perfect! Delicious sauces. This restaurant is in a location where a few other places have been unsuccessful, but hopefully this place sticks around!! The fried alligator appetizer was great with big chunks of meat and the pulled pork had great bark and good smoke flavor. The only recommendation I have is to add a Carolina vinegar type sauce to the lineup. read more
