Old school looking breakfast joint. The menu has a lot of options. I went for the country ham and cheddar omelette. Came with toast and a choice of starch (I went with grits). Ham was the a bit salty, but I knew country ham was salty so cool with me. Plenty of cheese as well. One note, I think the omelettes are cooked on a flattop so they come out thin. No issue for me. The grits were grits Service was really good. Very engaging staff. N*joy!

Visited Big Ed's for the first time after many positive reviews read. I'll have to agree, with what I've read. Very busy, staff very friendly and attentive with good eats. I ordered the catfish , spiced apples and an egg with orange juice. I very much enjoyed my meal. I was able to carry a portion of it home to eat for later as the catfish was pretty sizable. The ambiance is rustic , puts me in the mind of the other breakfast chain. I would definitely return. Unika B. & Co.

My daughter and I visited Big Ed's North Restaurant on May 27, 2026 @ 6p.m.. We placed our order with our waitress. She was very professional and courteous. The food arrived and we were very pleased at first. My daughter ordered pancakes which Ed's is known for. As we began to eat, my daughter noticed that her pancakes was not to her liking so she sent back to the kitchen. This is were the problem began. The cook got upset and made the comment that "Fat Ass" toward my table and my daughter heard him and the other cooks laughing when she looked up. I immediately called the waitress over and got the manager. I never got the opportunity to speak with the cook about his comment but did want to let it be known that his comment was heard. This kind of behavior is sickening and so disrespectful. I pray that this individual will be held accountable for his actions!!! This was our first time attending this site and probably our LAST TIME!!!

Decided to try this place for breakfast. Not too busy when we got there a little after 9:30. Their menu is not too large and I decided on a cheese omelette with a side of bacon and home fries and sourdough toast. The omelette was nothing special and the eggs were ok. I did ask for crispy bacon but it was way too crispy and not that flavorful. The potatoes were nice and crispy and they gave you enough of them to feed the entire family. Now the toast!! They have an up charge for sourdough toast The toast did not taste any different than regular toast. When we got the bill I was surprised to see that the up charge was $3.00. That's insane. We will not be going back there for breakfast

Breakfast done Very Right. The food is always delicious, the service always fast and friendly. What's not to like? Noisy, family kind place. Reasonable prices, decent portions. Can't go wrong.

10/10 would come again! The food was DELICIOUS! Although in downtown Raleigh, I felt like I was at a family's dinning room table enjoying a home cooked meal. Staff were friendly, and our waitress was attentive and kind.

5/6/23: First time here. It was packed with people graduating, which was awesome to see. We waited quite awhile for a table, but we finally got one. I looked over the menu and decided to keep it simple by ordering pancakes and bacon. My friend had grits, eggs, biscuits, and a spicy sausage patty. He loved his food because he eats anything and was starving. My pancakes had a weird taste to them and the bacon was cold and soggy. I wasn't very impressed. We went to the register to pay and saw the sign that if paying with card, we would be charged a surcharge. Would've been nice to know that ahead of time, but anywho. I may go back to try something else. I definitely didn't enjoy my breakfast. Parking is crazy too. Be aware.

The staff is so kind make sure you always have refills. They're very generous with their flavors and their hospitality ambience is very clean and I will definitely come back again for brunch leaving you in a happy food coma

Good food and service. A little costly for breakfast food but the food was good. Grits were a little runny for my taste.

They have a wide variety of sandwiches (hogies, deli style, cheesesteaks, chicken cutlets), along with burger and salad options. We opted for a cheesesteak, deli sandwich, and small salad which was the perfect amount of food for two people. My only word of caution is that the Calabrian Ceasar dressing is quite spicy, so use with caution or pick another if you don't like spicy food. The bread, meat, and toppings were all fresh and brought unique flavors that worked very well together. There was a good amount of seating both inside and outside that was clean and well kept. Be sure to check out the daily drink specials too - when we went it was $2 Tecate cans. Will definitely be back!

My favorite sandwich is the dagwood with turkey. The cheesesteak was also pretty good. Unfortunately the dagwood recently stopped featuring avocado and now is replaced by pesto so I will be looking for a new favorite soon. The sandwiches are great, prices are fair, and food always comes out quick. Both inside and outside seating is always nice and clean and the servers are friendly. I wish their bread was softer sometimes but I love the options they have. There's definitely something for everybody!

However, this place gets the nod…read more My first visit was a little off, mainly because the guy at the register was a little confused but the food and presentation was just that good. Over the past 3 weeks, I've noticed a steady decline in service and food quality. Please note I've ordered from here 8-10 times in that span, with dining in 3 times and Door Dashing 5-7 times. I can go back to my receipts but I made this place my go-to. One of the days I walked in to order and the guy flatly told me all subs were toasted when I asked if I could get mine toasted. Seemed a little uncalled for with the tone. The last visit onsite, the presentation from my first time (sub is spread open when served) had gotten worse. The tomatoes were noticeably smaller. My last door dash order from yesterday, I had a blonde hair in my sub. I do not have hair and it wouldn't be blonde, if so. It was mixed in as well. I threw the rest of my sub away. This is actually the second business on this strip I've found hair in my food. I don't complain, I just don't eat there anymore. But the fact I can notice a difference in service and food quality within 3 weeks is INSANE. At this point, I do not recommend this place.

If you are a Vegetarian like me, this and the veggie sandwich seem to be the only choices. As tasty as it is, I will order it again. Also, the lemonade is pretty good.
