Pams was on my YELP list and via my bestie I dropped in solo 1st time but this visit he was with me. Service, food and feeling that NC foodie vibe which echoes my childhood was on. Our hostess lead us in stopping @ ATM IE REMEMBER ITS CASH ONLY NO TAP! Once seated we both skimmed menu that Saturday morning but I knew I'm going back to dwags. Homemade chilli, fries done in fresh oil, when I mentioned to server I could smell how fresh oil was she informed me they change oil daily and as someone with extremely sensitive allergies I was very impressed. True Bright Leaf weiner, steamed buns, coleslaw, homemade chilli plus onions reminded me so much of my DADDY who unfortunately passed 3 years ago. He introduced me to diners and especially a great CAROLINA HOT DOG! PAMS KEEP ON SERVING GREAT FOOD AND MEMORIES! I adore this family refusing to go into all new apps, being cash only and true customer service. You feel at home at Pams plus u get quality food served by people who ate proud of their livelihood and business. All vets, visitors stop by see Pam and her Mom works cash register! A TRUE NC STAPLE AND RALEIGH LEGEND!

Parking lot is packed when you arrive. Don't let that scare you away, they seated us the moment we walked in the door. Their tea is still amazing.,Very freshly brewed and they still put the pitcher on the table! The staff is still happy and friendly everyone is telling you good morning and asking how you are. They are open 6-12 so at 9am I've ordered a cheeseburger ( they offer slaw and chili on it too). My son ordered 2 of those plate size pancakes and bacon and my friend ordered scrambled eggs and cheese grits and biscuits. From order to food arriving took only 12 minutes even though the parking lot was completely packed and so was the restaurant. Minutes from the fairgrounds it's a perfect place to eat before the Greek Festival! The restaurant is very quiet with all the people that were in here. We didn't even have to raise our voices. Highly recommend!

CASH ONLY. Letting non-local diners know since I don't carry an ATM card myself and luckily the Hubs had the cash or I would have ended up washing dishes! Lol. This is a good old-fashioned diner with many local patrons serving up Southern hospitality at its finest. I ordered the 2 egg breakfast with sausage patty, grits (of course) and biscuits. This was my first time I ever tried red eye gravy. Think of it as a savory salty unami flavor similar to coconut amino acids. A light sprinkling of it on grits was perfect. We had not just one fluffy biscuit but two per order! Enough to take home and it still tastes great the next morning. Plus, we tried the fatbacks which are similar to pork rinds. Yum! Our sweet server Tanya poured out the Southern hospitality like molasses over hot cakes! We never had an empty cup of coffee during our breakfast here. We felt so welcome here in Raleigh and here at Pam's. Definitely ask for Tanya if you're visiting here. Parking in the lot.

The famous BBQ Chicken with Hot Sauce (with my pick 2 sides)

This place is a gem, along with everyone that works there!! I went for the first time after being told about it from a coworker. So we all went out for a lunch and had the best time. The menu is simple, breakfast served all day (they close at 2) and lunch. They have multiple seating areas, but it seemed like everyone was mingled in with each other. The food came fast (even for our large group) along with baskets of fluffy biscuits and hushpuppies. I ordered the BBQ Chicken with Hot Sauce (white meat) fries and apple sauce. The specials change daily and so do the sides/vegetables. The chicken was cooked to perfection and that sauce...holy moly, I could slather that on everything! The one draw back is that it is a CASH ONLY. They do have 2 ATMs, but yall, they charge (up to $5.25 for fees)...so if you can hit your regular ATM before you arrive, even better (i didnt have time to). But dont count out Pam's, that hospitality is just as great as that BBQ Chicken

One of the best biscuits and gravy dishes I've ever had. My server was so friendly and helpful too. This will become part of my weekly routine.

We stopped in for a nice leisurely breakfast. The parking lot was crowded but there was room inside. It has a humble interior, the first thing I noticed were the two ATMs inside. Assumed they take cash only (this was correct!). I got two eggs and tomatoes and the biscuits. Definitely try the biscuits!! They were so outstandingly good. Thankfully we got two per order. One would not have been enough!! The coffee was good. The service was wonderful and the staff cheerful.

The staff is always so kind and are working HARD because it is packed every weekend. There's so many things on the menu that I still want to try. When we first got to the restaurant we were interested in sitting outside but the host told us the spot that would fit us wasn't available or in the section. However, she went out of her way to talk to her manager and they accommodated us. Off to a great start service wise! That great service continued throughout our meal. Our waiter was super attentive and everything was brought out really quickly. The restaurant itself is gorgeous, both inside and out. It's a very classy spot; very upscale mid-century. I had the stuffed French toast crepe with berries added (egg battered crepe dusted with a cinnamon spice blend, filled with cheesecake custard, topped with maple syrup and house-made whipped cream). Phenomenal. I'm still thinking about that crepe a few weeks later now...I also ordered the Strawberry Citrus Smash (tangerine ginger iced tea, strawberry syrup, lime juice, served iced). Also delicious and not overly sweet. Everything here is great. I highly recommend checking it out. My oneeeee issue is that they don't take reservations. I'm sorry but I don't want to wait around for over an hour to get a table for brunch on the weekend. It's really unfortunate because I've been here with friends before and we've had to leave to go to another restaurant because of such a long wait time. The only reason I was able to try this place after that was because I went during a weekday when family was in town visiting. Many of my friends have jobs that aren't very flexible and busy family lives, so the weekends are the best times to go; but at the same time they don't have a lot of time to spare to waiting. PRESS if you see this - I highly recommend that you reconsider your reservation policy, at least for the weekends!

Good thing I only ordered 2 things! An order of fried catfish with home fries and one egg. And a biscuit with sausage gravy. The fried catfish was salted and well fried. It tasted delicious for my first bite! The home fries were basically cut potatoes, but they weren't very fried or flavored. I wished I ordered the side of apple sauce instead. The biscuit and sausage was good, but a bit too much for one person after eating a separate order already. Definitely bring more people so you can try more things. Also, I wished I had asked for sausage gravy on the side so I can try the biscuit on its own first as well. Furthermore, I would have more time to eat the catfish so I wasn't worried about the biscuit getting soggy. Christy came to check up on me every now and then. The place was buzzing with people and decorations so I didn't feel so alone. When it was time to pay, Christy brought me the check for me to pay at the cash register. Both Christy and the cashier were so friendly! The restaurant does have a women's and a mens restroom if needed.
