Visited the new Columbia City IN location. I am sorry to say that it was awful. Our town was excited to get this new restaurant based on the Ft. Wayne location. The food was embarrassing. The chicken breast was as if it were from a baby bird. The Ruben was super thin and left one wondering how this was even a sandwich. The waitress who had been there for a couple of weeks had very little knowledge and took forever to serve us and got the order wrong. The cheesecake was just tossed into a styrofoam box even though it was not ordered to-go. I really wish I could have posted a great review. So disappointed. read more

SOMETHING SEEMS FISHY! This is my go to place for fried fish since I had to ditch long john silvers. Love the lowkey location of this quick dine in easy to get in even with heavy traffic. The lady's up front are really laid back and are urgent with the order for both carry out and dine in. But I do recommend to call ahead to place an order. According to my calculations it seems like they replace the oil early on in the week, so I always aim to take a visit on these days for the best quality fish. My go too sides are usually always coleslaw, fries or hush puppy's. since I usually get it to go I top it off with lemon and Mexican hot sauce at home. Overall It can be pricey but the portion size and me just never having a bad experience makes me give this a 5 star. read more

This is the same quality product as the original Wells Street store. The fish is excellent as was the hush puppies and the fried okra. The store is nice and clean. Busy with more carry out than dine in clients. The service was a little slower than I would anticipate for a carry out. Allow a good 10 minutes or so for carry. 12/17/18 - same excellent fish! This time we added onion pearls - a new item. These are small onions that are battered and served with chipotle sauce. The sauce is good. The onion pearls are a bit small so you don't as much onion taste as you would with an onion ring. read more

I very much enjoy how close this is to my work. It is a tad slow getting food. I realize it is cook to order but I called it in and told them when I would be there and it still took 5 extra min to get it. I called in my order and was told 15-20 minutes. But when I got there I ended up having to wait another 25 minutes for my food. Not because the majority of my food wasn't already sitting in the window waiting for my order to finish. When I got home I started to hand out food three of the meals were incorrect. I had ordered large fish sandwich platters. I was told that there would be about 2 1/2 pieces of fish on each sandwich. The platter was to come with fries and coleslaw. Which I specifically asked for because we didnt want the chips. I was told only way to get the fries were to do the platter which was about $4 upgrade. When I got home the fish was maybe a piece that was cut in half on each sandwich and none of them had fries they all had chips. I tried to call the store 3x but no one ever answered the phone. I couldn't get up on the all you can eat fish here :( they don't offer it at this location. Gotta go deep off Wells street if you want all the fish you can put in your money maker. I got 2 pounds of fish; it was overcooked. When you spend $30 on one meal--it better be right. The first time I got fish from here I ate a whole pound. I'm pissed off and I want my money back. This place is out-of-the-way and it's in a convenient store. I was up half the night with diarrhea. Food poisoning takes longer to take affect, The dark fish and diarrhea are both signs that they need to chane their deep fryer grease more often. Not a real restaurant. We ordered Big Eyed Fish Express to go and called in our order ahead of time. My husband went in to pick it up and pay for it and he comes out with no food and a receipt showing the teenaged girl at the cash register charged us an extra $500. As anyone would be, he was upset and they called the owner in to remedy the situation since the money was not returned to our account and he "lives right around the corner." The owner was upset with my husband's reaction and called the cops on him. Having not done anything wrong, the cops came to mediate the situation and understood why my husband would be upset. The owner talked to the credit company that they used to charge my account and assured him it was reversed on his end. Seeing how it is Saturday, instead of just giving me cash back, I now have to wait until Monday for the money to clear as they accused me of just calling my bank to cancel the money reversal after I get the cash in hand insinuating that I'm a common criminal which is uncalled for. Food was horrible! Everything was over cooked. We ended up throwing away our dinners because it was so over cooked we could not eat it! Terrible service as well! Employees are too busy socializing with one another to make sure food is correct and given to the correct customers. We will not return! read more

Love their fish, but I decided to try something else - the 21 shrimp dinner. They were cocktail shrimp, which would have been fine except they had so much breading there was no hint of shrimp. They also were out of cocktail sauce, but I didn't know that until I picked up the dinner. I ate five and threw the rest away. From now on, I'll stick with the fish. read more

Unfortunately I ordered broiled 2 piece fish. I wish I had taken a picture of the two 3/4" strips of fish I got. About half the size of a chicken strip to give you and idea. Our first time. We were told there would be a magician there on Saturday night. No magic show. Waitress never introduced herself. Between getting my tiny, yet cold dinner salad, and receiving our entree, I had time for a nap. I had to ask for more water. My wife was never offered more tea. We noticed that what appeared to be regular customers, received preferential treatment. Napkins on the floor. It seemed like organized chaos. They served me supermarket French fries. Being Ash Wednesday, we needed to eat fish. I suggested we go to Big Eyed Fish Express on Hillegas Rd. We have gotten take out from there several times. This time we ate inside. They are so friendly. The food was SOOO good. I am a huge fan of crinkle fries and hush puppies and their's are Amazing!!! Fish is very good also and tarter sauce too! After recommendations from friends, we stopped in last night to give it a try. Nice and cozy little place attached to a gas station. We ordered the battered fried fish dinner and a couple sides. We very happy with the quantity and quality of the food. The dinner came with 3 large pieces of perfectly fried fish with just the right amount of batter. It was delicious. Giving the fish a 5 but the sides were a 4. They were good but not as good as the fish. I would recommend you give it a try. We will definitely return soon. read more
