I've always heard of Potbelly, but there was never one in my area. When I was visiting Fort Wayne, I saw the opportunity to try it. I gave the restaurant 3 stars because the staff was not knowledgeable of any ingredients in the restaurant. A woman in front of me asked where would she get a drink and the staff ignored her. I asked about the hot peppers and the staff gave me a confused look as if he didn't understand my question. It was a weird experience. The food was good and the peppers enhanced the flavor. I had the prime rib steak sandwich. It lacked flavor and seasoning but they provided plenty of meat The staff is neither cordial nor rude, apathetic would be a more fitting description. Update: awesome customer service. So friendly. Great teamwork from start to finish. Recommend the Smokestack pork and Mac as well as the barnyard. Pork and Mac is a great mix or sweet heat bbq shredded pork with creamy Mac and cheese all blended together under a toasted bun. I add lots of onions and extra bbq sauce. And of course their hot sport pepper mix. The Barnyard is a classic blend of all their meats and Swiss cheese toasted to make it all gooey and then loaded with your choice of veggies and condiment. And of course the hot pepper mix. This is the only sandwhich place I'll eat at. Half a sandwhich will fill you up. They are top notch. read more

I will start off by saying this was the first time I ever went to Potbelly. I didn't realize that I had to order basic toppings like lettuce and tomato to get it. Thought that would be standard. We got Prime Rib sandwich and A Wreck meat and cheese only no toppings because of this. I did order "hot peppers" on the Wreck and didn't get them so I wonder if I would have gotten the other toppings if I ordered them any way. The food itself was pretty good. The Wreck had good flavor probably would have been even better with the hot peppers I ordered. The prime rib was a little slim on the steak but the flavor was good. I would probably try Potbelly again but not this location. They closed at 8pm we placed the order at 7:05 and pulled up to pick up at 7:15. When we pulled up all the chairs were already upside down on the table. There were people eating in the dining room and one couple ordering and were going to sit down. She ordered a fountain drink and I did too but they had already turned off the soda machine had to have it turned back on. This was done by the girl that was behind the counter looking annoyed while she was talking on her cell phone. This location itself was not a good impression. The cashier was friendly. Overall, not a great first impression but I would most likely give another location a chance. read more

This place is great! My new favorite sandwich place! Love at first bite here folks! My family and I have taken to go orders from here a few times and we absolutely love the food! The sandwiches are huge, hearty, and delectable. Bread is fresh, the ingredients are fresh... you will love these sandwiches. Potbelly, though, has other great items. My mom swears by their potato soup and mac and cheese. I need to bring them for her every-time. Their cookies... the best! I recently had a special one of dulce de leche... omg... i cant describe how good it was. It made me melt!!! Service is great! People are so friendly! Never eaten inside but i can tell you its clean and plenty of space, so you will be comfortable. I would just rather take this goodness home and eat it there. This place is great. I have been here three times now and I love the sandwiches. I always get the Avo Turkey sandwich on white bread with all the toppings except tomato and oil (personal preference). Their hot peppers are a must try in your sandwich if you like a slight kick. The staff are all very nice and the line generally moves pretty quick. Tons of seating that's been clean every time I have come in. If you have time to stop by or need a good quality sandwich that's going to leave you feeling full and happy this is the place to go. read more

Unfortunately this is the only Potbelly in the Fort Wayne area. I have been here numerous times and they have unfortunately been close even though the hours of operation state that they're open. I understand that they are short staffed and it's not their fault. Recently I was able to go earlier however I had to wait over 30 minutes to get my order in with only two families ahead of me. That's just way too long for fast food. Their online ordering is also not an option so I can't even get my order in ahead of time. The inside seems like it's in disarray with boxes on the counter top. Nothing amazing about this place. Getting a 2-star because my coworker enjoyed her sandwich, not enough to rave about it but it was alright. I have a picture of mine below.... a meatball sub with the sauce on the side because I was getting it delivered and didn't want it to be soggy. Anyways there were more mushrooms than meat. The mushrooms are giant slices, which you might think is the meat in the pic, and the meat was smooshed up processed looking meatballs. Very disappointing and not very good. This is my fav sandwich shop, not just in Fort Wayne, but the best ive ever been to. Ive lived all over the country, and Potbelly takes the cake! Not only is the food great, but the staff are the salt of the earth. All super friendly and out going, they make you feel welcome and that you belong there. I talked the the manager and he said they had a rough couple weeks from a review bomb and I just had to post a review worthy of the shop. Portions on the meat were poor overall compared to Firehouse. Just wasn't that good. I think I liked Quiznos better and they went out of business, on the same level as Quiznos. I had a very pleasant experience at Potbelly! Stopped in over the lunch hour with a friend. It wasn't overly busy, but they had a good crowd. For those who aren't familiar, you order at the counter and then take your food to the table lunchroom style. The dining area had plenty of seating, was clean and well kept. The staff was super friendly and greeted us with a smile. Each employee down the line seemed happy to be at work, which is always refreshing! I decided to go for something lighter so I ordered the uptown salad. Everything from the spinach to the candied walnuts tasted super fresh. I finally have to say that this location just needs to go ahead and close its doors. I live 45 mins away and when I come to town from time to time I have stopped to get a sandwich. The last 4 trips they have been closed for some reason or another during prime hours. The time before that, the manager made a scene, quit, and walked out while we were eating. Ran by here for lunch--I would say it was a home run!! I ordered my sandwich and they had it prepared quickly (chicken & cheddar). They have lots of yummy additions--mayo, hot peppers, pickles, lettuce, tomato and onion, etc. My sandwich was delicious. Also very affordable--$7 for a plump sammich! They also had some delicious looking cookies at the checkout, and the cashier assured us that the cookies are "what are dreams are made of". I've been to potbelly before but I was really excited that Fort Wayne has finally got a location! This place is decorated awesome with some Fort Wayne decor with lots of windows for an open concept. There's lots of space and it doesn't seem to cramped. There's also plenty of menus for people to look at so it's not in one place. There's plenty of drink and sandwich options and even shakes and smoothies!!! The Italian sub was packed with flavor and was easy to eat. The bread is delicious. The salad seemed like it was prepackaged with almost close to frozen chicken, no complains though, I expect that at a sandwich place. I've been back a few times since first trying. Sandwiches are pretty consistent, I found out you can just ask for hot peppers on the side. Go for the wreck or turkey. If you have sweet tooth, skip the shakes and go for the ice cream sandwich. Two scoops smoothed between two oatmeal chocolate chip cookies for just $3! Unfortunately this location seems to have a lot of issues. Sometimes my sandwich is great, sometimes it's awful. It all depends on who is making it. That is if you can find the place open. What sandwich restaurant closes at 4pm? You never know if they'll be open no matter what time you go. I'm thinking they can't keep employees for some reason?? I didn't feel there sandwiches were any better than Subway, Jersey Mike, Firehouse, or Penn Station. Both wall menus they had were hard to read unless you were up at the register to order. One was hidden behind a support pole near the order station and the other was blocked by a vent hood and only could be read at the order station. I feel like they need to move the one hidden behind the support pole out where customers can look it over before getting in line. Other than like I like the decorations. read more

I love this little sub shop. There is just a California chill atmosphere with peace, love and subs. I got a Mediterranean sub with no feta but added chickpeas. It has hummus, red peppers and artichokes. The toppings are fresh. The service is quick and friendly. My friends got a chopped chicken salad with chicken, apples, blue cheese, walnuts, and grapes that they said was really good. It was large. On Saturdays they have an acoustic guitar guy who sings great classic rock. He's there at least until 2pm. He's really good. That's my favorite time to come. read more

I would go back. Environment : this place was very clean and we'll put together. It was set up very similar to most sandwhich shops. The decorations where very nice and well put together. Service: the service could have been more friendly. The employees seemdd like they were tired and one individual didn't even smile during ny stop. They were very fast and did a great job making the food, but I think they should have been more friendly. Product: the food is really good. I have now used Potbelly twice for work. The first time, I was happy and very satisfied with their performance. The second time left a bad taste in my mouth and a question as to whether I would ever be back. I called them just before noon on a Thursday and had a pretty hefty request. I needed over 30 boxed lunches. I recognize that's a lot to ask, especially last minute and right before (or even in the middle of) lunch rush, but the nice gentleman on the phone said it would be no problem. It would take around 45 minutes. Great! So we moved forward. An hour later, I call to check on the status and was told that the sandwiches were about to go in the oven and it would be about another 30 minutes. Fine. I could hold the hungry staff off for another 30 minutes. 35 minutes later, I call to talk to the manager who said the nice gentleman had just left with our order. Great. In the meantime, I gave a little piece of my mind (in a very gentle and professional way, I might add) to the manager and her response was less than satisfying. There was barely any sympathy, understanding, and ZERO ownership. She just continuously defended herself in that they should have never taken the order to begin with (agreed) and she's not sure why the person took the order and how they require notice for boxed lunches, yada yada yada. When I realized I was going to get nowhere with my complaint, I ended the call and at that point got a half-hearted, "I'm sorry." I wish business owners and management understood that sometimes it's not the damage that loses business, but the damage control (or lack there of) that loses business. read more

Fair warning: Potbelly makes my favorite sandwich - the Wreck ('thin cut' - they used to call it 'skinny' and it is different from 'flatbread', which I've never tried). I discovered them when I lived in Ann Arbor MI and am always hoping they'll open a location near me. Having moved to Ft W at the end of 2016, I was thrilled to see this place under construction. It recently opened and I finally went. Pros: the sandwiches! The service! The oatmeal chocolate chip cookies! Make sure you get the hot pepper mixture on your sandwich, and if you're so inclined, get a jar to go. I like to chop it up and add to cream cheese or grilled cheese sandwiches or even things like pot roast. Cons: the location It's really hard to get into. You have to be traveling a certain way on Coliseum in order to get there. As far as I can tell there's only one way in. I made it happen though, because I love my Wreck! Don't make the mistake I did, which was assuming I could travel the parking lot from Wild Birds Unlimited. You can't. You need to go back to Coliseum and then re-enter. It's a newly opened location and I found the staff - all younger guys - to be friendly and chatty and personable. This is not normal for a fast-ish food place. I hope management can retain their quality of service. I really hope it doesn't turn into another place where teenager types masquerade as zombies with no personality. One of the guys told me they're opening 3 or 4 more locations in Ft W, including one on Dupont. I was excited to hear that! read more
