We happened into Big Fatty's and glad we did. We were concerned about the live music but it was excellent and not so loud as to make conversation difficult. The "Award winning brisket and smoked caramelized onion Mac and cheese" was not large but amazing. The skinny salad with brisket add on *was* large and excellent. Lots of fresh red and green romaine (my favorites) with other fresh vegetables, slivered almonds, and a maple balsamic vinaigrette, topped with melt in your mouth brisket. This was less than average BBQ. The pulled chicken had a weird taste and it was dry. The burnt ends were tough and grissily, the ribs were okay but tasted like sweet baby Ray's bbq. The mac and cheese was dry and tasted like just noodles and cheese and wasn't creamy at all. The one upside of this place is that they serve Heady Topper and the cornbread was okay. read more

I am so glad I came to check this place out based on other Yelpers' recommendation. We were on our way back from our foliage road trip to Stowe, Vermont and decided to include a bbq stop for a late lunch/early dinner. Big Fatty is a self service restaurant. You go up to the counter to order, they'll give you a number, and bring the food to your table. The restaurant itself is nice and clean and they have a wide variety of beer on tap. First of, please get their salad bar for an extra $4 per person with an entree order. One of the best salad bar I've seen in years. Everything was super fresh. Must try their smoked salmon, chicken breast, and sausage that they diced up for you to go with an array of veggies, cheeses, and dressings. They also provide bread, crackers, and butter on the side. Soup is included with the salad bar. Try not to fill yourself up before you have a chance to savor their BBQ entree. It's hard but try your best. For 3 adults, a teenager, and a child, we certainly ordered way too much food but it was all good. 1/2 rack of spare ribs A dozen chipotle wings 8oz burnt end 8oz brisket A small side of fatty's fries and a small side of baked beans 2 all-you-can-eat salad bar ($4 per person when you get it with entree order. $8.99 per person without an entree order) 2 beer, and 2 soda (Total came up to $80.50, tax included) All of their entree came with coleslaw, which was very good. The ribs were HUGE. I'm talking about the kinda ribs that fill you up with just one bone for a regular eater. The 1/2 rack would have easily feed all 3 adults comfortably. Ribs was fall off the bone tender but still retain some chew, which was good. The smoke flavor was there and not overpowering. Chipotle wings were fried and well coated with sauce. That's their medium heat sauce by the way, and I definitely taste the sweet heat. Brisket was melt in your mouth tender. Burnt end was moist albeit a little fatty (hence the name of the restaurant?) My only complain was that they drowned the burnt end with way too much sauce. Would have been nice if I can taste the meat itself instead of just the sauce. read more

Would be 3.5 stars if possible since it really falls somewhere between 3 and 4 in my book. In a nutshell - the brisket and burnt ends are very good. The Mac and Cheese is pretty good, and everything else is OK. Stick with the brisket and you'll be happy. We went with a group of 5 and ordered nearly $150 of food. So we got a bit of almost everything BBQ (passed on the pulled chicken). Here are my thoughts: Brisket- very good. Not the best I've had in New England, but very good. Good char, smoke rings, nice and tender/juicy on the inside. Burnt Ends- Very good (it is from the brisket after all) for the above reasons, but with the obvious extra char. Ribs- pretty good, but not standout. I'd pass next time, but wouldn't turn them down if someone offered them to me. Pulled Pork- disappointing relative to the rest, but not horrible. Not really tender and kind of stringy. I needed a knife (not so with the brisket/ends). I wouldn't order it again. Mac and Cheese - Good, but on the oily/dense side. Not creamy mac by any stretch. Cole Slaw - Very good- perfect balance of mayo/vinegar and went really well with the Q. Fries- Standard frozen fries with a cajun seasoning that was good. Not really a must have by any stretch Hush Puppies - Ours were dry and a bit overcooked, but the flavor was good. Beer selection was good. I'll go back for brisket/slaw/beer. read more

Great place, we stopped by while passing through! You go in order your food at the register and seat yourself, super friendly staff and there is self serve complimentary water off to the side! We ordered the little piggy and the fatty daddy burger! The little piggy was really good (I added a lot of BBQ, which lucky they have on the table) the barbecue is homemade and really good! The coleslaw was good kinda of plain, but good! The burger looked great, was told it was "juicy, fresh and filling" Overall great experience and If we're out this way again we would definitely come back... the salad bar looks pretty nice and fresh so maybe I'll get that next time! read more

Brisket was ok, tender but no smoke flavor... It tasted like grandma's brisket. The chicken on the sliders was boiled and hard with zero flavor. This all comes down to laziness. They are always out of something and twice I've been told they are out of something a good ten minutes after the order has been placed. Lazy and disorganized. Very good BBQ, prices not to bad, can't sit outdoors with dogs and inside is set up like family style tables. They have a salad bar but I never got anything from it so can't say if it was good or not, I know this is a bbq place but I always get a hamburg there as they are so good and seasoned with something that makes it awesome. Love the sweet potato fries as this is the only place I can get them crispy as most places they are soggy. My fiancé always get bbq pork and has had the chicken which does taste good. However they are not the best I've had but it's still worth eating here if in the area. It's always really busy in there and you will have to wait to find a place to sit so plan on waiting. We always have the dogs so we just order to go and sit outside in our truck and eat. read more

Super long wait but good food. Obviously this place is for the meat fans. Vegetarians - there are options but go at off hours to ask questions on the food. The line was super long but the guy at the front taking orders took his time and chatted us up (probably leading to the super long line). The beer options were phenomenal - lots of HF, River Roost, etc. He even let us try one of the beers ahead of time. We went at 8pm and got out just before close at 9pm but didn't feel rushed out. Bathrooms were clean and there were lots of staff cleaning up the busy dining area. My husband got brisket and burnt ends with mac and cheese and I got plain nachos. In a world where exceptional bbq is within the reach of virtually any dude with a smoker and the internet, this place is sadly just unforgivably bad. This is a one and done. Salad bar and slaw were fine. BH had brisket and he's pretty fussy about it. He is a Texan after all. It was just okay. I had the BBQ chicken. It was tough and had no smoky flavor at all. The sauces can sometimes salvage a blah meat but the sauces here were strange. The "Carolina" sauce was like no NC or SC bbq sauce I ever tasted. Big Fatty's is an awesome place to go for 50 cents wing night on Mondays. They have a great variety of dry rub wings (my favorite being the Cajun ranch) and BBQ sauce wings. If you're feeling adventurous and love spicy food, I'd recommend the maple habanero wings. Aside from wings, the brisket and pulled pork are pretty popular too. I like to go here for their $6 salad bar for lunch. It comes with everything you can think of to put on your salad along with all you can eat soup and either brownies or chocolate chip cookies. :) read more

Stopped in on a whim after visiting River Roost Brewing across the parking lot, and so glad we did! Atmosphere is casual, counter service with rustic tables plus some outdoor seating. Salad bar looked fresh and varied. The Little Piggy sandwich was a beautiful pile of pulled pork which I slathered with the Saint Louis sauce. Delicious! This place was really great. We stopped there after a day trip to the area after reading the reviews on Yelp, and who doesn't love a good BBQ joint? The food was yummy with lots of options to choose from. The seating might be shared if there are a lot of people there as there are huge tables that you can sit at. The staff was super friendly and helpful when it came to answering our questions! This place was family friendly with a stash of toys for the kiddos to play with while we waited for our meals to arrive (which did not take long at all). They have lots of local beers on tap including a beer store next door where you can purchase crowlers of beers that they have on tap or select a wide variety of bottled or canned craft beers. It looks like they have lots of live bands at night; however, since we went during lunch there was no live music. This restaurant is VERY casual. Customers order at a counter then find a place to sit or carry out. The employee brings the food to the table. My husband and I ordered the 16 oz. pulled pork with Coke slaw and small sweet potato fries to share. We also ordered flights of Vermont beer. Our daughter ordered a hot dog. Our son ordered a 16 oz down south sandwich with fries. The pulled pork was a little dry but the barbecue sauce was really good. The Coke slaw was home made and very good. Skip the regular fries and order the sweet potato fries as they are some of the best we've had. My daughter said the hot dog was really good. Our son said the 16 oz. sandwich is TOO big but very good. Coming from out of state it was fun to find a place we could order Vermont beer on draft in flights. The cider was sparkly, light and scrip. This place was a revelation for me. I don't think I've ever seen a beer list so refined and extensive at a BBQ joint. I stopped here for lunch so unfortunately I didn't eat too much. I only had a quarter chicken + collard greens. ($5). It was enough to satisfy me, but I kind wish I bought the half chicken and saved some for dinner. The chicken had a great smoked flavor. The collard greens were pretty standard. I will also note that they had a pretty nicely stocked salad bar which is $8.25 for all you can eat, which would be a great deal for me. This is my first one star review! I've been hoping one of these would come along soon. This is the only redeeming part of my patronage of Big Fatty's. My family picked up takeout from Big Fatty's for dinner. There were seven of us eating. We ordered: Pulled Pork Pulled Chicken Fried Pickles Baked Beans Mac and Cheese Sweet Potato Fries Hush Puppies It was a lot of food for seven people. Their serving sizes are pretty large. Despite the abundance of food, five out of the seven people at our table walked away from dinner hungry. The verdict was that the only decent offering were the baked beans. Almost everything else went uneaten. My grandpa and brother were the only two who enjoyed the meal. To put that in perspective, my grandpa has no sense of smell which makes up 70-75% of your ability to taste. My brother prepares (and enjoys) Hamburger Helper without draining the grease off from his meat. He considers this to be a good meal. I wouldn't come back. I'm not sure why anyone would. read more
