They also enlarged one of my return air vents to meet the higher airflow needs of the new HVAC system. The work required widening the opening in the ceiling and installing a new return grille. The crew handled it neatly and professionally. When they finished, it looked like new. The new system is working great, airflow is noticeably improved, and the entire project was completed fast and as promised. It's not often that a major home improvement project goes this smoothly. The appointment was made with ease and all my questions were answered with patience and clarity. Robert came to do an inspection and showed me photos of the state of my system. There were areas that had clearly not been cleaned properly previously. He did a thorough inspection, and cleaning and went above and beyond. He was knowledgeable, respectful and his work ethic was excellent. I could smell the difference for the first time in years and the house finally no longer had a musty smell. Long story semi-short, my AC of 26 years had been on its last legs since about 2017... I'd been postponing the inevitable with R-22 recharge + leak sealant, with service from a older fellow whom I'd had a great relationship with, for almost a decade. Between 2020 and 2025, all seemed "tolerable" with my old Payne/Carrier AC + furnace. But last fall, it was clear my system had given up the ghost... and unbeknownst to me, the fabulous older gentleman who'd been coming here off and on for years, retired and moved out of state. I needed some new AC geniuses! Let the research and bidding/quoting madness begin! * FAMILY-OWNED BUSINESSES ARE BEST! I know everyone says "go local," and avoid things (giant franchises, etc.) that rhyme with "Bosco," for such an install (as well as gear sharing the first name of a famous 1990s-era heavyweight boxer w/the last name of Lewis). I'll let you imagine how that "almost" experience went... The FAMILY-OWNED business that is GREEN PLANET not only saved me heaps, but educated me about what would truly be needed, to go the "heat pump" route (my initial intention). Given that I have ancient, single-pane windows, and am in a tricky financial spot (I can't really upgrade my insulation to seal up the home to make a heat pump be 100% effective, let alone, replace windows), I ended up going with a rock solid, super efficient, side discharge AC condenser (due to vertical clearance limitations) and a new furnace (more details below). Nice! * "OFFICE" ETTIQUETTE Anyone curious about GREEN PLANET's "office" coordination... I wrote to Jay through their website... he phoned within an hour... I explained as best I could (background / issues / wants), he made an appointment to come out on Tuesday... He was on time, inspected the premises and advised... and his entire crew was out here THE NEXT DAY, taking care of business. I've had no AC since last September. (Though I've survived in here for 4 years without it, ages ago.) And now I'm CHILLIN'!!!!! (For PARENTS: I also appreciate the fact that the crew were extra aware of their environment, given that my son was home from school, sick; they were always mindful of him, in their midst.) * SOME INSTALLATION SPECIFICS A 2-ton unit was installed, replacing/upgrading from basically what I had... and my existing ducting is still rock solid, which also saved me some cash (by not needing new ducting). A wiring upgrade to accommodate the newer, more powerful/efficient unit... and DONE deal! * THANK YOU! Giant high five to Jay, Nola, the install leader Andre, and GREEN PLANET's fabulous crew! Our oven was checked by another company and they told us we had to buy a new oven and there was no way of fixing it. We decided to get a second opinion and that's when we contacted Art. We had had another technician who had given us an unrealistic estimate and also had lied to us about the cost of the part needed to repair our oven and then was charging on outrageous labor charge as well. Art came out on Thanksgiving day and in less than an hour repaired our oven and basically save Thanksgiving for us and our friends. We didn't even need a new part. He repaired the one that was there. The cost was a small fraction of what the other repairman had quoted. Our home warranty wasn't going to cover our HVAC replacement, due to the comments by a previous technician. We called Art for a second opinion. He found the true cause, spent a long time being very diligent to make sure things were done correctly, and his hard work made sure the Warranty Company had to replace our entire unit saving us THOUSANDS of dollars. Well, I have to say that Art was professional, looked professional and was prompt. About a week ago he repaired my dishwasher and did a fantastic job. He is extremely knowledgeable on the different subject matter and was well priced. Today I called him back out because my washing machine wasn't working due to a potential faulty latch. I contacted this office because the water was not leaving my dishwasher. The guys called in advance, arrived and spent three damn hours disassembling and assembling this device. The problem turned out to be quite simple - a clogged drain filter - but it was clear that they were ready to get to the bottom of it. The cost was the same as for a regular visit. I have a gas Kenmore dryer that had a squeaky noise and then had a burning smell, they came out same day and got the part they needed and fixed it the next day within an hour, we were lucky this could have been much worse as the lint caught fire that had accumulated behind the back panel in the drum. Ended up paying $1,300 to replace a transformer, capacitor and fuse and to hose the outside unit down with water. Also wanted to charge almost $500 to "chemical wash" the unit, which is something I know you can do yourself pretty easily. I know most places charge the same but it all feels so much like a scam when these parts are all no more than $40-$50 each max. When booking I also go left on read when messaging via Yelp and had to call 2 hours later for them to actually book and send a confirmation. Then they said the tech would text 30 minutes before arrival and they did not, and when I told them I was expecting a text heads up they said they "didn't receive these instructions".

The FAMILY-OWNED business that is GREEN PLANET not only saved me heaps, but educated me about what would truly be needed, to go the "heat pump" route (my initial intention). Given that I have ancient, single-pane windows, and am in a tricky financial spot (I can't really upgrade my insulation to seal up the home to make a heat pump be 100% effective, let alone, replace windows), I ended up going with a rock solid, super efficient, side discharge AC condenser (due to vertical clearance limitations) and a new furnace (more details below). Nice! * "OFFICE" ETTIQUETTE Anyone curious about GREEN PLANET's "office" coordination... I wrote to Jay through their website... he phoned within an hour... I explained as best I could (background / issues / wants), he made an appointment to come out on Tuesday... He was on time, inspected the premises and advised... and his entire crew was out here THE NEXT DAY, taking care of business. I've had no AC since last September. (Though I've survived in here for 4 years without it, ages ago.) And now I'm CHILLIN'!!!!! (For PARENTS: I also appreciate the fact that the crew were extra aware of their environment, given that my son was home from school, sick; they were always mindful of him, in their midst.) * SOME INSTALLATION SPECIFICS A 2-ton unit was installed, replacing/upgrading from basically what I had... and my existing ducting is still rock solid, which also saved me some cash (by not needing new ducting). A wiring upgrade to accommodate the newer, more powerful/efficient unit... and DONE deal! * THANK YOU! Giant high five to Jay, Nola, the install leader Andre, and GREEN PLANET's fabulous crew! I reached out to Pac West Heating and Air Conditioning he came out the next day to hopefully get it going, and nothing the unit is old and needs to be replaced I said oh sh--. Luckily Vardan the owner of Pac-West was able to find a unit and a crane to come out that day and change the unit. I had cold air in my condominium that night. Tech came out and was very nice and respectful of my property. He had to go into the attic and found that the cover was dislodged. He put the cover back on and A/C worked! Was an easy fix but he didn't try to con me and told me the truth. After, he checked the cooling temperature and measured the level of coolant. Gave me straight answers with no bs. Walked him out and asked how much I owed. He told me it's on the house since it was a simple fix. AMAZING customer service and quality interaction. Absolutely top notch.
