Really nice lady answered the phone. 5 stars for customer service. We ordered for the whole family, lots of wings, burgers etc. she repeated my large order back and it was ready for pickup in less than 20 minutes. Got everything we ordered hot and ready to go. It's your average fried food, so I have no real complaints. Except I wasn't a fan of their ranch dressing, it was thin and bland. I'd suggest they change the brand since it doesn't do them any favors, especially since I'm sure wings are a common order here... would definitely elevate their meals if they had better ranch. First time eating here and it was delish. I had the chi-town cheesesteak and it was really good. My kids gave the hot dogs a thumbs up. no fries were wasted. And will definitely be coming back for the Italian beef. 2 hotdogs meals with fries. An Italian beef with a drink and cheesesteak meal was about $46. Employees were great and there are a couple tables you can eat at inside and outside. Decently clean, will be coming here again. read more

I have passed by here so many times and finally decided to try it! I got the chicken pita and it's a 10/10, the chicken is moist, flavorful and the portion is amazing. Went to Big Jacks after a round of golf. First impression was great service. Nice guy behind the counter and lady on the grill. We had burgers that were juicy and quality beef. If I could give zero stars I would. We are in the middle of a pandemic and the cook (pretty sure it's the owner) and cashier are not wearing masks, AT ALL. The cook is not using gloves and in fact, he is also the guy bagging the food and I witnessed him licking his mouth to open a plastic bag. This is all unacceptable. I am then handed a paper bag with the food which is open, nearly all places are closing up bags for safety during the pandemic. I have been in restaurant management and owned restaurants since 1988. This place is not worthy of eating. I would highly recommend not eating here unless they change procedures. read more

Guy behind the counter (pretty sure he was the owner) didn't want to serve us when we walked in 12 minutes before they were closing. Then said he would and while taking our orders acted pissed off that he was having to do so. I got irritated with his attitude and asked him if he wanted our business or not. He shrugged and said nothing. I told him to shove it and left. Had eaten there before, but food not nearly good enough to support that crap. *P.S. This happened over two years ago, but a neighbor just told me almost the same thing just happened to them recently. If I could give 0 stars I would. Ordered tonight and was missing some of my order. Beef sandwich is not a real beef, the meat is cut up so small that I could put it in a salad. Just tried this place for the first time and I enjoyed it very much. The fries are outstanding. They're very similar to the fries made at Twisted Burger or if anyone is familiar with Poochies in Skokie. Food is decent. Good beefs and hotdogs. Fries are so-so. Service is where this place lacks but has gotten better in the last year. They used to make rude comments often. One time they closed 15 minutes early literally saw them running to lock the door when I was walking up to the door. This is a Chicago style joint, and I appreciate that. Dogs, burgers, fries, and Italian ice. The staff hustles in here, and the chaos is noticeable. Its all part of the charm though. I like the chi-town cheese steak sandwich, it's always on point. You can get a dog and fries for two bucks, and you can't beat that anywhere in the area. The Yo' Paisan fries are tasty, but my last order only had parmesan on it. No garlic, olive oil, or chives. Again, they get busy in here, so check your order before you leave. Despite many negative reviews about the service, we had a fantastic experience. The staff was helpful, checked in to let us know when our food would be ready, & even asked what temperature we wanted the burgers. We both opted for cheeseburgers & were told it'd be about 10 minutes, and they arrived in about 10 mins. Granted, this is a typical hot dog/burger place, but the burgers were decent despite the mini processed bacon slices. (not a huge deal) Place reminds me of a little mom & pop hot dog stand I used to work at as a kid. Tables were clean (fans could definitely use some dusting) but otherwise we were happy. I also asked for hot peppers and au jus on the side. My husband ordered the gyro meal but the man told us it's frozen meat so my husband ordered the Chili Cheese Dog meal. They should be ashamed to have signs stating "gyros have arrived" and it's the junk you buy in the freezer section! Price was ridiculous! $17 for 2! Did not receive my au jus or hot peppers. The cheese on the hot dog was not even melted. My God the grease from the fries....and they were def nothing to brag about. My beef is dry and has no kind of seasoning. The hot dog was tiny....not even Vienna that they advertise. The man that took our order looked high. Too bad we have to pick a star because mine would have been 0!!!! Never ever again! Great little place. My husband and I have only gotten the Chicago style dogs but have enjoyed them. They roll up so many fries with the hotdog you will be stuffed. Alright, so I admit it. I grew up in Chicago on the Northwest side near places like Luke's and Johnnie's Beef. We was always getting somethin' from a hot dog stand in the old neighborhood. Yous guys might not understand it if you didn't grow up around places like YoJos and Toots, but we took our lunches served to us on white paper in little red baskets really freakin' seriously. Eyetalian Beef was one of the staples from Naples (Not really. It's totally a Chicago thing I just wanted to make that lame rhyme.). And we took that very seriously too. We liked our beef the Chicago way: preferably with a with a Tommy gun and some bootleg gin. No, I'm kiddin' yous guys. We liked the beef piled on a fresh, soft roll, spicy from a little bit of red pepper and extra-fu@#in' juicy. So I move up here to Round Lake Beach and I think I'm never gonna find decent beef sangwitches again, but I already found one that blows me away. (Dat's another review though) So, I decided to try Big Jacks too. Not bad! I got one problem with this sangwitch, the beef is chopped up really fine. It's not bad, it's just different. But the thing's freakin' soaked with juice. It's spicy and its got a good flavor to it. The fries are home made and you get a huge freakin' bag of them. They got daily specials and Tuesdays you get a deal on the Beef sangwitch. It's one of them little sit down joints with outdoor tables that reminds me of the old neighborhood. Go there on a warm day and sit outside and pretend you're on Harlem avenue in 1985. Who knows. Maybe you'll see some young Eyetalian scoochin' down the street in his IROC. I could tell you what IROC stands for but some people who aren't of Eyetalian decent like me and who weren't there back in the 80's might find it offensive. So let's just stick with this recommendation to go to Big Jacks and try the beef. read more

The ol' tradition "ma n' pa" hotdog restaurant. I love this place, more than a fat boy loves cake. I was introduced to this place by one of my buddies a few years ago and I was real skeptical about it but now, I'm in love. Everything about this place is awesome! And, the actually sell authentic Chicago dogs, killer Italian beef and their French fries are out of this world! I could go for some right now just typing about it. The service is great and very friendly, it's clean and there is outdoor seating if the weather permits of course, since we're in the Northern part of Illinois and the atmosphere alone is awesome. It's fun and there are not many restaurants like this anymore, non that I can think of in Lake County! I highly recommend Big Jacks, it's cheap, the portions are huge, the food is fantastic and the service is out of this world. You won't be disappointed and that's a guarantee. read more

Love love love this place! I've been going since it first opened. I grew up in the heart of Chicago for 15 years so when I moved I was hard pressed to find a decent hot dog joint. The owner and staff are super friendly and everything they serve is super good. The hot dogs there are made for them specifically and the fries are made right in front of you. The burgers are handmade too. They do take debit card but if I remember correctly there's a ten dollar limit. This is a definite must try! read more

When you first opened everything was great, the food, the service and the cleanliness were great. Now I have to say I am avoiding going to your hot-dog shop because: 1) The food is not made with love anymore. The food is priced at a premium, but the preparation and quality are weakening. Buns don't seem fresh, the cheese on the beef is not melted, missing hot peppers, fry oil getting pretty dark gives bad tasting fries. Things seem more thrown together to get back to the movie playing. I am also concerned about the hygiene of the preparers and the greasy dirt accumulating everywhere. This all just makes me say yuck. 2) The service is weak. The kids you have working there seem more interested in watching a movie on TV than preparing anything properly or cleaning the place. They also look sloppy/dirty lately. This is not their fault, this is a management issue. 3) The building is just plain dirty inside. I don't think the food prep floor has seen a mop with degreaser /soap in weeks. The tall tables in the main room are dirty, sticky, greasy. There is dust clinging to all of the higher ceiling places. Do you ever clean that place? The Chicago scenes over the vent hood could use a wiping down as could the walls and ceiling and everything else. Makes me wonder how much of that dirt falls into my food? I am sorry to say, I can not recommend Big Jacks anymore. Big Jacks has become a grease pit. read more
