For a decent hotdog, hamburger/sandwich. Basically your run-of-the-mill hot dog stand/fast food it'll work. It just depends on the time when you come. It seems the later that you are the food there is older. So I would recommend getting there for an early lunch to get the fresh items especially the fries. Even though it is "cooked", (later on) it just seems that the fry oil and everything else is overused by the end of the day so you may get that old oil aftertaste... Other than that, it's OK. I have been coming to Fratellos in Volo it has to be for over 30 years. I worked right up the road from there on Volo Village Road at what is now Rainbow Auto Body. When I first started going there they were in a small trailer. Wow does time fly. They have a nice clean dining area decorated with a lot of pictures and posters of Chicago history. Very cool stuff. As for the food, they have the best hot dogs, beef and sausage combo sandwiches, and Maxwell Street Polish Sausage hands down. Portillos is good, but Fratellos is way better. Whoever the beef and sausage supplier is, it's just so much better than Portillos. Don't even get me started on Bueno Beef that opened across the street from them. I don't think they took any business from them at all. They are always busy. This should attest to how good they are. To be honest, I had no desire to try any of their other food because I love these three sandwiches. Great stuff at Fratellos. read more

It has been awhile since I last ate here. The difference in quality from then to now is crazy! I ordered an Italian beef meal with mozzarella cheese and sweet peppers, cheese fries, and a drink. My Italian beef was bone dry and looked burnt. The mozzarella cheese was a plastic looking blob, like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for a while. There were no sweet peppers at all. After picking off most of the cheese, I tried the beef and it tasted blah and definitely had been sitting out for a while. The cheese fries were good, but my soda was flat. For almost $19 I was highly disappointed, especially since Buona is across the street and slightly cheaper. I always prefer local places instead of chains, but I'll go to Buona next time I'm in the area. read more

visited this location for the first time today. They have a good menu and nice dining area. It's at a very busy traffic location so getting in and out could be a while but the food is good and hot. Son had cheese dog meal with fries. He thought it was tasty. I just had mozzarella sticks which were good and hot. We decided to share an ice cream twist cup with was rather expensive $4.50 and not really good. It gave me instant brain freeze as it seemed to be more the texture of slush than ice cream. The colors were odd too. Kinda yellow/beige and super dark brown Not a fan of son would not eat it either and he will eat anything. Overall it is a decent place. Came here with a group of 10 and every single one of us loved our lunch and wished there was one closer to Kenosha. The Fratellos Italian Submarine was one of the best sandwiches I have had in the Midwest. The fries are hot, crinkle cut, and amazing. Ahhh Fratellos, it has been too long. We dined in on our way through the area. Plenty of tasty options on the menu. I had the cheeseburger with bacon. Soooo tasty and huge! My wife had their Polish sausage on a fresh Turano roll. Again, tasty. Their fries and cheese sauce were great. I couldn't resist adding in a tamale for good measure. Large, hot and very good. Every time I order my food is screwed up. I ordered a Caesar salad with ranch dressing and you gave me caesar dressing. Can't eat that dressing! Toppings on my burgers and hotdogs have been wrong as well. It's not that hard to read a ticket and get an order correct. I have to be honest. Fratellos was always my go to carry out restaurant for Italian Beef, Hot Dogs, etc. but within the last year I have noticed a change in the quality of their Beef sandwiches. The beef is dry, the sweet peppers are shriveled and shrunk, and it is not as tasty as it used to be. I am sorely disappointed and hope that they bring it back up to what it used to be. read more

My wife and I went to the drive through for lunch on the way to the Volo Antique Park (another great place to visit). The food here was surprisingly good, and fast! I had the grilled chicken wrap, which was as big as a large burrito. It was good, nothing overly special, but tasted fresh and clean. My wife had the chicken pesto panini, which she also liked. She thought it was really good for being so fast. The french fries were crispy and hot. They were a bit under-seasoned, but honestly they really didn't require it, as they were pretty tasty, as-is. The REAL winner here are the chips (which are included with sandwich orders. They're kettle chips made on-site and they are awesome! It was worth the stop just to have those chips. Seems hit or miss. We ate here twice this week, first time turkey sub and meatball sub with raspberry shakes. My wife had meatball sub and I had turkey, I liked my sub, my wife did not like hers, but I tasted her meatball sub and I thought it was good.
