    8" Italian Sub
    Dave O.

This is the most iconic sub shop in NSB, each sandwich is prepared fresh, it's definitely not fast food but so worth the wait. During peak hours this place is packed, it's seems all the contractors and locals converge on this place for lunch so getting a seat here during the busiest times is hit or miss so plan ahead or get an order to go. Fresh ingredients and made to order is always a good combination, I think most tend to order a much larger sub than they can eat at one sitting believe me a 8" sub here is a meal - my go to is the Italian drenched in oil and vinegar with plenty of extra napkins. If your looking for an original nostalgic experience Big Joe's Sub's checks all the boxes...

Homemade subs were excellent. Cool place with friendly staff and has an old school vibe. Jess had cheese steak sub and was delicious. Lots of cheese and the bread was toasted perfectly. I had meatball and another hit. Soft meatballs with a tasty sauce and 2 different cheeses. A definite stop at the end of Canal Street.

Hands-down, the best sub in New Smyrna Beach. Everything else on their menu is incredible as well. Highly recommend and big Joe is awesome!

The food is so delicious, from the subs to the onion rings, it's a must. The service is great. The place is clean. This is the spot to go for a sub! Hidden gem

I've been here twice so far. The first time I had a tuna sub with French fries, I hope I find that picture somewhere. The sub was plentiful and the price was good for the amount of food. The taste was good, not outstanding, but good. I also factor in the fact that tuna subs are hard to find, no joke, and another even more obscure fact: a sub shop that has fries and tuna subs is almost impossible to find. Anyway, the food was good and I thought I could stop by here to try other items on the menu. My second visit was post inflation. Also, I had began eating beef, so I made a plan to go and eat a cheese steak. Bad choice. I got my cheese steak and there was hardly any meat. The essence of a cheese steak is to be obnoxiously overboard in the meat department. Not here, it was skimpy. To add to my dilemma, I ordered some onion rings and a similar situation occurred: a very small portion. I probably would have taken my sub and taken the loss, but, it just happens that I had stopped at another sub place and ordered literally the same, for almost the same price, and gotten amazing food and quantity. So this is troubling...

    That's a small onion ring

The place doesn't look like much from the outside but it gives you that impression that it's going to be an amazing mom and pops local joint. I walked in and one of the locals began raving about the place and several others said it's the best in town. We felt like we found the diamond in the rough. We ordered two steak sandwiches large fry, large Curley and onion rings. The food arrives and we both look at each other and say is that a large? The size of the fries look to be a small at best. The small is like an appetizer for a kid. The steak sandwich not enough meat and no flavor. If this place is the best in town I hate to be other joints. I can't see myself ever coming back. And the staff was very friendly but quality of food just wasn't there.

They have a desert that rotates daily and when I was there it was a chocolate banana pie which was excellent. Then I also ordered a large fries to share with my wife and her friend and that bag was stuffed to the top with fries. They were amazing fries and I saw the peeling and cutting them in house. The ambiance was very much a beach vibe. It was a cute place that you could go to in your swim suits and no one would notice. I would definitely check out Paco subs again next time I'm in NSB

He took the time to talk with us, was incredibly kind, and even gave my kids some free stickers which made their day. That kind of genuine hospitality sticks with you. Great food, great people, and a place that clearly takes pride in what they do. We'll absolutely be back next time we're in town.

From their fresh, flavorful sandwiches to my wife's all-time favorite Pavlova, everything we have tried has been beautifully prepared and genuinely delicious. The quality really stands out, and you can tell pride and tradition go into what they create. The owners, who are authentically French, add an extra layer of charm and credibility, and the staff are equally welcoming. They are kind, patient, and always happy to guide you if you are unsure what to order, which makes the whole experience even more enjoyable. If you are looking for a place that offers both savory bites and outstanding desserts, this spot is absolutely worth seeking out. Whether you want something sweet, a light meal, or simply a cozy café atmosphere that feels like a brief escape to France, Mon Délice is an easy recommendation. Give it a try. Dinner plans the other night started the way many great family evenings do--complete confusion and…read moremild hunger-induced panic. We had company over, and the original plan was our classic "let's see what's hiding in the freezer and pretend it was intentional" dinner strategy. Unfortunately, reality set in. My wife was exhausted, and I have to admit something publicly: I'm only a competent cook under two conditions--ample prep time and my beloved Instant Pot. Remove either of those variables and my culinary skills quickly resemble a survival cooking show. I wasn't quite ready to debut my "experimental freezer casserole surprise" for guests. So the family meeting began. Chinese food? Nope--someone just had it. Pizza? Also no--apparently that was last night's adventure. Burgers? Absolutely not. One of the teens dramatically declared, "Not today, Satan." Then, out of nowhere, a teenager casually drops a suggestion that stopped the room: "Barbecue from a place called Crave." Barbecue? Interesting. But... none of us had ever heard of this place. Naturally, the next question was: Where is it? And that's when the real twist arrived. Apparently Crave Hot Dogs & BBQ is inside Walmart Supercenter. Yes. Inside Walmart. At this point I was convinced the teenager had been scrolling too much TikTok. A barbecue restaurant... in Walmart? I had to see this with my own eyes. So off we went. Sure enough, tucked right inside the store was this little barbecue spot that looked like it had no business being that good. The smell alone should have been illegal to pump into a retail environment. You walk in expecting to buy paper towels and leave smelling like you just visited a smokehouse in Texas. And the food? Surprisingly fantastic. The barbecue had that smoky flavor that makes you pause mid-bite and say, "Okay... hold on... this is actually really good." The portions were generous, the menu had plenty of options, and somehow the whole thing managed to feel both fast and freshly made. The real miracle of the evening was that everyone--kids, guests, and the exhausted adults--walked away happy and full. No experimental freezer meals were required, and my reputation as a "competent host" lived to see another day. Final verdict: If someone tells you there's legit barbecue inside Walmart, don't argue--go investigate. You might walk in skeptical, but you'll probably walk out full, impressed, and wondering how you discovered a hidden barbecue joint in the same place you buy laundry detergent.
