Tender, melt in your mouth roast beef, hot au jus and grilled bread. Big Joe's is the cleanest sandwich shop you'll ever find. Comfy booths, tables and a large menu outside and on the inside wall make it easy to choose what you want. Ordering is a breeze and you're always greeted warmly & your order taken quickly. Don't forget to grab a pickle while you're ordering - a big crunchy dill and a brownie or pasta or spaghetti salad, if you're interested. I've been here twice so far. The first time I had a tuna sub with French fries, I hope I find that picture somewhere. The sub was plentiful and the price was good for the amount of food. The taste was good, not outstanding, but good. I also factor in the fact that tuna subs are hard to find, no joke, and another even more obscure fact: a sub shop that has fries and tuna subs is almost impossible to find. Anyway, the food was good and I thought I could stop by here to try other items on the menu. My second visit was post inflation. Also, I had began eating beef, so I made a plan to go and eat a cheese steak. Bad choice. I got my cheese steak and there was hardly any meat. The essence of a cheese steak is to be obnoxiously overboard in the meat department. Not here, it was skimpy. To add to my dilemma, I ordered some onion rings and a similar situation occurred: a very small portion. I probably would have taken my sub and taken the loss, but, it just happens that I had stopped at another sub place and ordered literally the same, for almost the same price, and gotten amazing food and quantity. The place doesn't look like much from the outside but it gives you that impression that it's going to be an amazing mom and pops local joint. I walked in and one of the locals began raving about the place and several others said it's the best in town. We felt like we found the diamond in the rough. We ordered two steak sandwiches large fry, large Curley and onion rings. The food arrives and we both look at each other and say is that a large? The size of the fries look to be a small at best. The small is like an appetizer for a kid. The steak sandwich not enough meat and no flavor. If this place is the best in town I hate to be other joints. I can't see myself ever coming back. What a gem of a restaurant. This place is a no frills place to eat with good prices and good portions. I was in the hospital for 6 weeks, and the only thing I was craving was one of Joe's Italian Subs. As soon as I made it out we made a beeline to Joe's. If I buy a 16" when I go, I am set for lunch and dinner for $10. The whole crew are great to deal with and Joe is the mistro directing the food. If ordering for lunch for a pickup order, plan on ordering 20-30 min before pickup. The place can get pretty full at lunchtime but they are always done with the same love every time. My son was in town so we went to one of his favorite place, Joe's Subs. Been going here for so long I never thought to review it. It would be like reviewing your grandma house. The subs are always great, fresh, loaded very affordable. Never had a bad sandwich here, ever. If your taking it to go for later, ask for the fisherman's wrap. Keeps things from getting soggy.
