This was a diner that the locals recommended. It was super busy, but we got sat really fast. I got the two-egg breakfast with hashbrowns and toast as well as coffee to drink. We love to support local businesses when we travel, and we were glad we came here. You could tell the staff had been there a while and could answer any and all questions we had. Prices were super reasonable and it was super clean inside and even in the parking lot coming in. There is limited parking but we got lucky but there were other options for parking nearby. I wish we found this place earlier in our trip because we would have come back for breakfast. read more

Our party of 8 was super happy with Ruthy's Kozy Kitchen. The service was wonderful, very accommodating. My in-laws have limited mobility and Ruthy's had tables labeled handicapped for exactly that reason. Easy to get in and out of. We really appreciated that. The food is always good, not too seasoned which is great for people who maybe diabetic. You can add your own. There are plenty of sauces, and condiments. Woe. This place gets real busy on the weekends. We were lucky and got a parking spot right in front and sat at the counter immediately. No waiting. Or waitress, Jessica, was really nice. She took our order and brought out drinks. The kitchen was quick. We got our order in just a few mins. I ordered the Micky, and my wife got the 2 pancakes, eggs, and bacon. My order had 2 big biscuits and gravy (I did give her some of my biscuit), 2 eggs, and bacon. Both orders were quite big. I turned to look at the restaurant, and the line had started to grow. We missed the rush by 5 mins. BTW, we've been here about 15 mins by now and have our food in front of us. These guys were hustling and helping each other. The food was better than most places we have been to. The service was quick. The people were very nice. We went a long way and will do it again next weekend. Everything was excellent. We were seated quickly and placed our order with a waitress who knew the menu inside out and had hot coffee in front of us in a flash. Had a superb Omlette, with a side of sausage and Raisin Toast. Driving by from out of town and saw this cute place. Walked in on a Sunday and got the last free table at the height of the breakfast rush. Our waitress was at our table within 30 seconds taking our drink order and back within a couple minutes with coffee. We placed the order and the food came so fast I thought they had someone else's order! We adjusted a couple menu items but zero issues... food was hot and fresh and delicious! First time eating here and the food was amazing, service during our meal was A+++. We even said a few times this might be our new go-to breakfast spot. The only downside was when I went up to pay. What I think was the manager seemed upset already, and when she took my card, she jammed it in the reader and told me it didn't work. I asked if she could try again more gently since there's nothing wrong with my card, but the interaction just felt really tense, like she thought I wasn't going to pay. I ended up using my wife's card with another server, and it worked fine. I've honestly never felt the need to leave a review before, but that part of the experience left a bad taste. The food is great though, so we'll probably give it another shot and just hope she's not working the next time. read more

I love diners! I was happy to see this one close by as we were traveling. The inside is so cute, and all the servers were so pleasant. Everything feels clean and bright. There is a board full of specials on the wall in addition to a full breakfast and lunch menu. I settled on a chicken salad sandwich on rye toast and it came with fries, coleslaw and a pickle. Food arrived promptly and looked great. Sadly, the chicken salad was super bland and didn't even taste like chicken. All I could taste was celery and toast. The French fries were hot and good. Atmosphere - Excellent. The restaurant is bright and cheerful. The decor is makes you feel at home. There are lots of four tops and booths. Service - Great. We were warmly greeted by the staff upon entry. Our server was very pleasant and attentive. Food - Great. I had the Patty Melt, which came with French Fries. The burger was cooked to the exact temperature ordered. The sandwich was ample in size and it tasted great. The fries were very good as well. Well it's been eight years since I've walked through these doors and wow how things have changed, thanks to a business associate I had breakfast here today, yes I was a little reluctant to attend a breakfast meeting here when I got the invite - but he convinced me and I'm so glad I took him up on it. This place has undergone a beautiful makeover, it's well lit and the place looks amazing with all the new furnishings since my last visit I am totally impressed. He was seated when I arrived so I walked in without talking to a hostess and within a minute our server Amanda arrived with a giant smile and a wonderful good morning greeting. As she took my request for a cup of coffee we had both decided on our breakfast choices so off to the kitchen she went. I have to take a moment to compliment the owner Ruthy, she has really taken this place to a new level, this is a nice clean restaurant that I am sure I will return to many times in the future - the service was exceptional and the food was delicious and presented well. I definitely will add this back to my list of local restaurants and at the top of the list for breakfast service - I hated writing a poor review but my previous review was truly my experience as is this one today and it makes me extremely happy to see the transformation and there's no doubt in my mind that this place will continue being successful since the bar has been raised... read more

We've been patronizing Ruthy's over the years and have always had very excellent & friendly service and tasty food but that wasn't the case on 02/11/25. I ordered the cheeseburger wrap with the "special sauce". After eating a portion of one half of it I discovered that I wasn't tasting any "special sauce". I unwrapped it and examined the insides and didn't see any evidence of sauce. I asked the waitress if she could get me a small container of sauce. She went to the kitchen and was told that I would have to be charged for it. I said I shouldn't be charged if it's not on there. The kitchen manager Erica then came charging out to our table and told me that "Just because I couldn't see it or taste it didn't mean it wasn't on there"!. My husband and 3 waitress witnessed that the sandwich didn't have the sauce. She then took the sandwich out to the kitchen and smothered it in sauce and slapped it back on the table. When I pulled the wrap back and saw the amount she had put on I became quite upset and said I'm not eating it or paying for it. She then stormed back to our table and said quite sternly "What's wrong with it now?"! I said is that the way you speak to valued customers? I told her what was wrong and she grabbed the plate and stormed off into the kitchen never apologizing. Not really sure why the kitchen manager felt she had to come out and get involved and show me who was the "Boss." I don't think that a couple of tablespoons of sauce is going to break the bank especially when it wasn't on there in the first place. It's a first I have never been treated so horrifically by "the kitchen staff". The waitresses were all very kind and I think they were quite shocked and taken aback by Erica's nasty mean actions. I tried to call and speak with the owners but they only have voice mail. I left a message to call me and as of yet haven't received any response. read more

We stopped in for lunch. The place is large and bright as well as clean. We ordered a BLT and the special, beef stroganoff. There was a note on the table that said things were slow due to a new crew. It did take a while for our order to come up. The BLT was cold so we asked for it to be reheated, the Beef Stroganoff was fine, tasty, and the serving size was good. We did notice that tables were not being disinfected as well as items on the tables were not being cleaned and disinfected. Basically they were getting a normal quick wipe in between customers. The staff was welcoming and friendly, out front they wore masks but the person in the kitchen we could see was not.. With the lack of safety I do not see us returning. Sorry. read more

Today me and my husband came in to get breakfast and instead we watched a young girl with short brown hair bring silverware up to the front and get yelled at for helping. The lady who yelled at her we had never seen before but it brought tears to the young girls eyes. It broke my heart. We will not be coming back after witnessing her being treated like this even though every weekend when we come in she always greets us at the door. I came here this past weekend with my entire family. My grandparents are fond of this place, so I was willing to give it a try. As its name implies, it is cozy inside. It is decorated with a retro farmhouse vibe. It is a fairly large place, so plenty of room for large parties. The reason why this gets only two stars is for two main reasons. First, there was hair stuck to our cup of cream for the coffee, and my silverware was not washed and still had chunks of grim left on it. I'm a very clean person, and for that reason alone I wouldn't want to come back again. Second, the food was average. Considering all of the other breakfast/lunch places in this town, I probably would pass this place by. There isn't anything stand out or unique that they serve. We ordered a wide assortment of omelets and a Greek Benedict. I personally had the philly cheese steak omelet. Overall, it had good flavor but it needed at least 2x as much cheese to get the full philly cheese steak experience. In addition, the biscuits were so dry they instantly crumble in your hands. After some improvements I'd be willing to give this restaurant another try. There is a lot of potential in this place. read more

We ordered the "Give it to Mikey" which was so delicious, came with biscuits and gravy, eggs, and bacon. They give you 3 good size biscuits and pile on the gravy. The gravy and everything was excellent! We also ordered the egg salad sandwiches, they were so fluffy and good. The coleslaw tastes so fresh and homemade. Probably the best I've had in awhile! This small restaurant has vintage charm and you can't help but do a double take whether you're driving by or just walking along Canal street. In past times on my way to go fishing or to the beach, I'd always look and wonder what their food was like, and I finally had an opportunity to find out. It really is cozy, warm, and inviting. The staff was friendly on this mid-week morning. As for the food though, I think that because the overall appeal has you envision granny in the back making homemade pies; the reality hit me pretty hard. There seems to be nothing homemade here. Everything is pre-packaged, bought from warehouses, and assembled/cooked quickly and placed on your table. Yes, I did ask. The end result is a meal that yes, it does fill you up, but there just wasn't anything flavor-wise that stood out. It makes me think that sometimes the goals of restaurants vary from establishment to establishment. Some really do want to present the public with something exceptionally delicious, and then there are those that just want to feed the masses in a nice environment.
