This came a option B on a Friday night. It wasn't too busy when we arrived. We were welcomed and seat yourself. Very plain decorations but plenty of televisions to watch sports. Waitress was Taylor and she was friendly. She even played with my daughter. I ordered the pulled pork dinner and serving size was generous. Cooked and flavored well. The bbq sauce tasted like baby rays so nothing special. I was hoping for a house sauce. Fries were good. The beans I didn't care for as they were too sweet and bitter. My wife loved them. She had the fireman burger and was pleased with the heat and such. Probably overcooked the burger so try a made to order next time. Fried pickles were great with the marmalade. Would've loved to try the food, customer service was very bad for us. We wanted to ask about outside dining since we were road-tripping with our pet, we were ignored and when someone did respond to our question they were very short with us. The regular fries were also good just not sure they were beer battered as advertised in menu. The Texas toast was wonderful, soft bread and very buttery. I've got a rule when traveling.... Never stop at a chain restaurant; always eat local. And if you only have chains to choose from, then choose one not available in your home state. I was very happy that we had this option at this exit...seeings how there wasn't many options, nor many exits, in this part of Minnesota. First, a shout out to the proprietor for having a reserved parking spot for military members and vets. I took advantage of that. This exit was pretty barren and the building was a metal prefab, like a lot of the buildings in the frigid north. But the interior was decent middle-America bar decor with a number of video games and mirrors with some neon for good measure. I noted a sign that identified the current record holder for eating their hot wings... He downed 60 of them. Hats off. The place was not too busy and I thought the service was a little slow but friendly. The menu was pretty solid. It extended beyond bar food to include a variety of steak options. I ordered the beef tips cooked medium. I was a little concernee with the order. In my mind, beef tips should be cooked very hot to char the outside but leave the inside red and juicy. These were served medium. They weren't bad, but I did break out the A1 (a sin in my book) to give them some flavor. I don't want to say they were reheated, but there was that essence-of-reheat to them. All in all, on a desolate exit this wasn't a bad find. I have been in South Dakota 4 years and was permanently resigned to never eating good BBQ in this State. I had tried all the Sioux Falls places and they were acceptable but barely OK. I have stopped in Humboldt to get gas many times as i head west a lot for night photography purposes but never really realized this place had BBQ. I got an inside tip and stopped on my next trip. It is a little grim hidden on the outskirts of Sioux falls but it is conveniently located off the Humboldt south dakota exit I90 . I gotta say, I LOVE THIS PLACE. I have bbq standards. This place exceeded them. I got the brisket, and I'm tempted to do the 8 hour drive for it again! Our server exceeded server expectations. It was a normal dining service. He was polite, especially when I was a little crabby at the beginning. But our car wouldn't start. So he took his car over to ours and helped us get ours running. We stopped in an hour before closing with our 11-year-olds in tow, on our way back to the Twin Cities from Rapid City. We were tired of driving and so close to our hotel, but the family was starving and Big J's popped up on Yelp. We took a chance and so glad we did!
