Our food was tasty, good value, (chicken sandwiches, grilled cheese) and the service was fine. I just can't get over the lack of cleanliness. They had candy machines on the tables which were covered with old food. The carpet looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in days and the tile looked even more disgusting. I almost wanted to tell my 3 year old to go to the bathroom outside because the restrooms were equally as filthy. Excellent Service, Food portions were huge, my double hamburger was about 6" tall, the place was very busy. This place came highly recommended from 4 different people. Would have given 5 stars if they offered Wi-Fi, they are out in the boonies but worth the drive from Rexburg, ID. Big Juds is a local icon but even as a local I can't give it 5 stars. The burgers are really good (but occasionally dry) and they'll prepare yours just how you want it. Lots and lots of options. They are most famous for the really big burgers, which you cut up and share - unless you have a HUGE appetite. The fries are fresh. Sometimes they come underdone but usually they are very good and VERY hot. (Warning: a small order of fries is plenty for 2.) I really like the rings. The interior is pretty poor but the servers are attentive. Finally, when you're done eating and want to pay - just walk up to the register and your server will come over and ring you up. read more

I've been here often, the burgers are really good, not outstanding but good. If you haven't been here you have to get the big burger just for the novelty but I really think the smaller burgers are better. The burger bun is specially made for them and is outstanding, just a fantastic bun. The lettuce, pickle etc. are always fresh and really compliment the burger. Service is hit or miss. We have had really great service here and we have had really poor service. I often visit both this location and the one in Archer. The service is usually a little better in Ashton and the food is usually a little better in Archer. They also have iron port in both locations which is one of my favorite beverages and tbh a real reason I keep coming back. read more

We stopped here in route to go camping. Food get 3 stars with fresh cut potato fries and great onion rings. The burgers are come in big, bigger, huge, and ginormous sizes, but the quality is noting extra special. The place is a huge open room and is in need of some serious polishing. It is a local "dive" and area hot spot....one of those places you just have to try once. Beyond that, there is better food in town and cleaner places to eat. BUT, go eat a huge burger and get your picture on the wall while you are in town. Then you can say you have "been there and done that" and you can eat better food the next time. read more

I've been to Big Jud's in Archer before and the service is great and the food is wonderful. However, yesterday when I went to the location in Ashton, the service was absolutely awful. We politely asked if we could have another chair for our table to which the waitress (short, with blonde hair) rudely snapped that there were none. I know that sometimes when a restaurant is busy that it can be stressful but that gives you no right to be so disrespectful to your customers. We ended up leaving before we could even order because we didn't want to have to deal with being treated horribly the rest of our stay. Big Jud's, I suggest you lose waitresses like that because they will only hurt your business. read more

Big Jud's is one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to and especially bad for vegetarians! Bad food, service, and atmosphere. The restaurant was so dirty! No waitress ever came over, so we finally had to go up to the front and place our order. We had to do the same thing to pay. The food was bad too. I ordered a grilled cheese and it did not even come with anything on the side- just a sandwich on a small plate. Terribly overpriced-you had to pay for all the sides seperately. This place is known for the "Big Juds" enormous size hamburger. I am a vegetarian and so that did not interest me. I noticed almost everyone in the restaurant had ordered this item. This place totally surprised me. I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting much. I ordered the Hawaiian chicken sandwich with fries. This was a great sandwich with a real chicken breast cooked perfectly. The fries were real. We had 20 people there and we were all pleased to find this place. A few days later when we didn't have dinner plans, everyone wanted to go back. This time we ordered 4 of the big burgers - just had to do it. They tasted great, it was tons of food and we got pictures of the kids holding a huge burger. They use real food here. Food was decent, however overpriced for what you receive. Service was dismal. Placed my order and then received it a short time later. During the entire time I was there the waitress never came back to see if we needed anything or refill our drinks. Went to the front to pay for the meal and had to go through 3 different people before anyone could figure out the bill. The second person told us that she didn't know the waitresses number to punch into the machine "So you are just going to have to wait". Very poor communication and treatment of the customers. Everyone that was on the floor was about 16 years old and it was clear that the training and experience was seriously lacking. The restaurant itself could have been cleaner. They cater to the tourists going to Yellowstone so little effort is put into service. For the price that you pay, you are better off going and getting a quality steak at a nice restaurant. read more

Went there and tried to take some food-to-go. Cashier was NOT even welcoming! We had to tell her that we were ready to order. She just walked away and said TAKE-OUTs will take an hour. WTF!!!??? That was the most REDICULIOUS & WORST SERVICE & WAIT I've ever heard from a restaurant!!! To add on to that...the place had dirty napkins & food everywhere!!! Our new go to after poor service at another Ashton restaurant we used to visit. Service was friendly, food was really good - a hearty, satisfying meal. I had the one pound burger and it was awesome. My family came to Island Park with friends. We had been there before and had enjoyed it and wanted to share. Our experience was anything but awesome. We waited for over a half an hour to get a seat. We waited for about a half an hour and no one came over to us. Finally my husband went to the front and got us menus to look at. Ten minutes later a server came and took our order. We receieved drinks. A half an hour later our drinks were empty and no one came back to our table. My husband got up with my glass. He went to the counter and waited. Five minutes later someone turned around. She asked him what he wanted. He said a refill. She said, "in a minute." He told her that he would like it now. She refilled it and he returned to the table. We had little kids with us that were getting really hungry. It took another hour to get our food. When we checked out my friend asked the cashier what kind of discount they had for over an hour wait for food. The waitress had also never returned to our table except to give us our check. The cashier swiped her card and said,"well I just swiped your card and it was busy." I understand it was busy, but a simple apology and understanding of children and needs would be greatly appreciated. The food quality also seemed to go down hill. We were not impressed and really wanted to show our friends a true Idaho experience. Get it together Big Juds. We are military and eat all over the world. Lets just say word spreads fast and both families that were with us, being military will be sharing our experience with subpar food and terrible service with everyone we know. Not the way to gain customers or keep old ones. My family had gone to Big Juds since it has been there. We will not be returning. read more
