I would've given more stars if their shopping carts weren't so bad!! It made my shopping experience so awful! First I grabbed a cart, not realizing that the front wheel literally broke in 2 pieces.. so I went back and got a different cart. Then while I walked back into the store with the different cart, it start making some awful noises and kept stopping because stuff was stuck in the wheels! So after getting another cart (which by the way still made awful noise) I finally went go ahead and cut my shopping short because I was so annoyed. RENEW YOUR CARTS BIG LOTS! read more

First off, it's a little off to see a Big Lots in the middle of Anaheim Hills; once you get over this fact and actually walk in, you'd realize that it's not the store that makes you want to leave, but rather the employees. A late night bite at Slater's finally led me into this place. After all is said and done, I've never encountered such rude "upper management." Granted, the manager, Jesus, was not there to remedy the situation (the associate manager, she so matter-of-factly asserted, certainly made a mark by herself). The issue: My friends were actually kicked out of Big Lots for walking around the store. Yeah, that's right: Kicked out of BIG LOTS. "You were making noise in the corner area." Uh, seriously? I understand there are precautionary steps to take in running a store, but how are you going to run a successful store when you're plagued by paranoia? Not everyone under the age of 25 is causing trouble-- highly discriminatory. When all is said and done, I purchased something at the store, which, according to the manager, was only 'after she kicked my friends out.' Usually, you don't buy merchandise when you walk in. So yeah, I suppose it was indeed after they left. Perhaps it was her lack of a proper education, unlearned etiquette or just misguided angst, but no reason to take it out on customers. I just feel bad for her minions, err, employees, because she seems like a slavedriver. Bottom line: WHY BOTHER, Target is a mile away, seriously. read more

This is the King of the big lots. I drive pass 3 other big lots just to come here. They have much more product, and the store is huge compared to other big lots. Customer service is still lacking. " TJ " the counter guy did not greet me as I came in ( the store had no one in it and TJ was doing nothing ) nor did he say thank you after ringing up my sale. But I still come here because the item selection is huge compared to the big lots by my house. And the other big lots in tustin leaves razor sharp knives in the aisles for children to play with. So 5 stars for your great inventory. Minus -1 star for your employee daydreaming at the counter. read more

I'm surprised I'm reviewing a big lots but I can't help it! I was surprised by the cleanliness and organization of the store. I just went in browsing to see if I needed anything and wow! My eyes couldn't believe all the stuff they had. They had food, home decor stuff, patio furniture, and even indoor furniture. Everything was placed with each section transitioning over to the next very well. Prices were very cheap on items such as appliances and many other things. I wouldn't say it has everything you need there but it does have a lot of inventory. I have never been a huge fan of Big Lots as the ones I have frequented over the years are in a constant state of disarray and feel "dirty". Anaheim Hills has made me a convert. It is ALWAYS clean, clean, clean and the staff is always pleasant and helpful. I took a girlfriend (under protestation) this last week and she is now a convert! I came in today at around 1 o'clock and when I was at the register paying, one of the items ended up not having a price. The cashier, older Vietnamese lady, had someone else go check the price and she took about 5 minutes. The lady behind me in line decided to get frustrated about the wait and told me I should come back another day to buy the item that didn't have the price. Its not like I knew the item had no price tag. Anyways, the lady continued to complain about the wait and once the cashier finally got the price, she told me that next time I'm not going to be able to be rung up for something with no price. How is it my fault YOUR store doesn't have the price on things?? I was treated with complete disrespect by the lady behind me and I didn't even go into detail. Then of course what the actual worker told me for sure upset me. Customer service should be first, just saying. read more

I came in today to look for some deals on wash cloths. I was asked to buy at least 100 to send off with a large shipment of other donations to Sandy Victims. Anyway, while I was in line, a woman asked what project I was working on to be buying so many wash cloths. I told her I was actually buying them for Sandy Victims. So, when I made my final payment, I noticed that it was less than the original total. I asked the cashier if she had a coupon she applied to my purchase. She said no, she used her employee discount. Well, I hope this didn't get her in trouble. But, I must commend her for such generosity. Thanks Big Lots and Thanks for having such kind employees! read more

customer service was terrible. everyone was sitting down on their phone and I had to ask someone to ring me up. when the guy rung me up, he accidentally rang me up for something that belonged to the lady behind me. I told him and he didn't acknowledge me, so I told him again and he told me to "calm down lady I was working on it" also, the lady right before me forgot to ask for a bag and the same guy gave her attitude and slammed the bag down and said "why didn't you ask me when I rang you up, now you're holding up the line" and he didn't put any of her stuff into the bag, so the 70 year old lady had to do it. Mitchell, if you see this, you're a jerk and you shouldn't work at a customer service job if you can't be nice! read more

I'm not one to go out of my way to write reviews but I was not impressed with the manager on duty. I've been coming here for some time and it's usually a good experience. I had only two items and was ready to check out. I walked in a line and was told that lane was not open. Funny, the "green light" was on. I wasn't really bothered about it too much at that point. What's frustrating is as I'm waiting in the "open" line, the lane I just walked away from opened up and they assisted the gentleman behind me. I looked over to see if the manager would go out of her way to apologize as a courtesy. Nope. Instead she just looked at me, not once, but twice. She never said one word to me. She then proceeded to ask if an associate could extend their shift, and then she walked away. The cashier I was waiting on was very sweet and apologized for taking long. I would have been perfectly fine with an apology and shook it off. The lack of customer service from a "leader" is upsetting. This may not seem like a big deal, however working in customer service myself, I understand that things happen. A simple sorry could've resolved this issue. The golden rule is what customer service is about, and the sweet cashier showed it. The manager should take notes. Lost a customer, I don't mind driving farther for a better experience. read more

Honestly, this store has THE worst customer service. Not only do they not have enough check-out stands open, but their employee who works the check-out stand (wish I would have gotten her name) has a personality as a squirrel, obviously hates her job, and never smiles. who doesnt like big lots? its great for cheap stuff like gift wrap.candles.odds and ends..nice decorative pillows.home decorating items are good, and some junk too but its great for little things..cell phone chargers. shampoo lots of body care products.skip the makeup its all cheap or expired..lots of brushes.combs.mirrors. they also carry food items some gourmet food items like imported olive oils.sauces..hard to find cooking products you also can find at cost plus but will cost you more..imported teas.coffees etc..you just have to look..browse around a bit. this store is clean.organized well stocked. Busy hours are between 2:30-4pm I try to avoid that time..holidays watch out can get packed come in morning or after 5pm.Note if you find a beauty product you like..make sure you buy several at a time because they wont always have it back on the shelf..biore facial scrub..super good deal 4.00..the esthetician in me says YEA! to this buy! read more
