I saw this place on social media and bookmarked it for if I was ever in the area. Stopped in to grab a weekend sweet treat and tried my first ever plant based ice cream! This is a tiny shop, there is no indoor or outdoor seating, expect to take your ice cream to-go. This area is nice to walk around in and you're close enough to the beach that I didn't mind this. Pink Vanilla 4/5, this is SUPER date heavy, just traces of vanilla and coconut. It did come with quite a bit in the cup but even though its plant based, I would recommend you don't eat this all at once as you'll probably end up with a similar stomachache as I had ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Cookie Smash 3/5, this tasted like a candy bar between a Reese's and a Snickers. I was told this was a super popular flavor but I prefer a more fruity tasting ice cream so I opted for the pink vanilla read more

Wow !!! The ice cream here is so good and healthy. These place hit all the marks; great service, fast and delicious. I recommend the banana pudding with mixed nuts and cookie crumbs . It is a small place but there's cute seating outside on the faux fountain. read more

It was so wonderful to take my little one to an ice cream shop that wasn't just vegan, it was a place i didn't have to worry about a bunch of sugar and artificial ingredients. Clean, yummy and fun flavors. My only complaint is that $9 felt expensive for such a small amount so this would be more of a once and a while treat. What a hidden gem in Santa Monica! Randomly stumbled across this seriously delicious ice cream place (and dairy-free/plant-based, even better). The employee working was so friendly and helpful, offering samples and recommendations. They had quite a few great flavors to choose from - the chocolate and strawberry were standouts. I'm not usually a chocolate person ever, but this was soo good. The strawberry tasted super fresh/real too. Portion size was generous. I would absolutely recommend and come back. read more

Been frequenting this spot for almost a decade. They always have the kindest employees in the shop. Their ice cream primarily uses coconut cream and dates, so I don't feel guilty afterwards. They have an assortment of toppings, and you can get by the scoop or pint. I love the rotating flavors and Wednesday deals. It's a super cute shop on Montana with outdoor seating. Really loved trying all the flavors. Michael the owner was there and gave us the whole backstory. It has the creaminess of real ice cream and not too sweet just perfect. I love the vegan ice cream here! I just Postmated a couple pints, & my sealed bag came with the cutest drawings on it. Very sweet! The flavors I picked today were both favorites: Strawberry Shortcake - with soft Sweet Laurel cake chunks, so good! Lemon Cream - slightly coconutty, lemony, & smooth - love this! Disappointed.... as a holistic food blogger who is vegan and gluten free my boyfriend and I were so excited to find this place and baffled why we didn't sooner considering we live down the street. We had a hankering for ice cream and from everything we saw online it seemed right up our alley. I always appreciate when any business is fully transparent with the ingredients they use and are health conscious which this place is. We popped in tonight and immediately loved the vibe. It's cute and clean even though it's a bit small. We were drawn in by the strawberry cheesecake but their special tonight was cookies and cream so we decided to get that. I got one scoop of that with sprinkles and my boyfriend got that and the passionfruit. At first the flavor seemed really bitter to me but I kept eating it and then started to hit the cookie chunks which (and I could be wrong here) seemed to be raw to me which made the texture unpleasant. The whole scoop was just filled with the cookie crumble and it really detracted from the ice cream itself. It was VERY rich and bitter. I had to stop eating it. The passionfruit was fantastic (we both loved it) but I'm not kidding when I say we both got super nauseous immediately from the cookies and cream. I really think it was the flavor (which just had a confusing taste personally) and the cookie crumble which was almost raw and frozen inside. The service was great and we love the concept so definitely want to come back and perhaps try the strawberry cheesecake or a more fruity flavor and give that a shot cause we really want to like this place but this experience was just super unpleasant and disappointing. I will update review once I go back with my next experience! read more

This is our new favorite spot! First of all, one scoop costs around $7-$10, but unlike other places, you get a huge scoop. The ice cream is delicious, though some of the milk-based flavors can be a bit rich. My favorite is the strawberry ice cream,It's not sweet at all and incredibly refreshing. This place ROCKS! I have never left a yelp review but felt the need for this one. I ordered two flavors for delivery and both are spectacular. Clean fresh ingredients and total transparency on ingredient list. For someone with a sensitive stomach and lots of dietary restrictions I thought ice cream was a thing of the past for me, but FFC has changed the game. This is everything I want as a dairy free person! I love that it's super simple ingredients too! Still one of the best dessert spots in LA. Came here for an afternoon sweet treat and had a scoop of the strawberry as well as the chocolate sea salt. Everything is made fresh and is vegan/dairy-free. The employee helping us gave us samples to decide between the chocolate and chocolate sea salt (the chocolate sea salt has extra oomph while the chocolate is very sweet). There's a bench outside with a fountain. Credit cards accepted. You can get points each time you visit. Again, it's a lovely spot to get (relatively) healthy yet tasty dessert. read more

Michael and his staff are so sweet! I enjoyed the Almond Biscotti flavor SO much, that when I mentioned it to him he made another batch just for me and let me know when it was ready. All of the flavors are so delicious and they use Sweet Laurel cookies for some of them which is awesome, but you cannot go wrong with any of them! Also worth mentioning, this is the first vegan/gf ice cream that while eating the pint, I haven't been able to stop it's so good... and that says a lot! HIGHLY RECOMMEND EVERY FLAVOR. read more

Probably the best plant-based dairy free ice cream spot out there. I made a stop with one other person during the weekend. We were greeted by the nice girl there who offered us samples immediately. She was very knowledgable and answered all our questions. I love that they do not use added sugar or artificial sweeteners. Their ice creams are made with very few ingredients which I like. I loved everything I tried. They're known for their salted chocolate which is pretty good. They have featured flavors that are different everyday. On the day we went they a chocolate strawberry one that was really good. We shared a single scoop which consist of any two flavors of your choice. We got their salted caramel and vanilla. OMG a single scoop is quite large and was only about $6. The salted caramel is my favorite. It was perfect. Vanilla is also a goodie. Their ice creams are very creamy and smooth. Their pricing is so good for what they offer and how much they give you. It's additional for toppings but no toppings needed for me. I really want to come back and try their peanut butter one when they offer it. I'm kind of a eat-clean kind of person so I was very happy I found this place. We have been regulars here for years and love it. My husband is avoiding refined sugar, so loves that he can get a sweet treat here that is sweetened with dates. We love the almond biscotti, mint chocolate chip and chocolate peanut butter. Also the special with cherries. Delicious! The staff has always been extremely friendly to us. Our teenager still prefers dairy ice cream, but this is perfect for us. We also love the waffle cones! Delicious! read more

I love this place! The vegan ice cream is delicious and made from bananas and coconuts instead of cream. It is honestly better tasting than regular ice cream! They always have Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, Salted Chocolate and Salted Mint Chip. The salted Chocolate and Salted Mint Chip are my favorites! Specialties

Plant based "ice cream" scoops completely made from a small number of simple plant based ingredients. Rich and decadent tasting whilst just being made from a few simple plant based ingredients. We use thick & creamy 100% coconut cream (no gums or additives) as the base in our "ice creams". Instead of cane sugar we sweeten our ice creams with 100% date, maple or agave syrup. Some "add ins" (cookie batter/chunks) are sweetened with coconut sugar. Visit us at our store on Montana Avenue or order online direct to your door via Postmates, Doordash, Grubhub or UberEATS. Please note that all of our plant based ice cream are now scoops (not soft serve like in older customer photos).

Meet the Business Owner: Victoria P.

Big Love Plant-Based Ice Cream began as an idea overseas, dreamed up by founders Victoria and Michael. With a shared sweet tooth and a desire to eat more consciously, they set out to create plant-based ice cream that truly tastes indulgent. I would go there for coffee, but I won't bother with their donuts anymore. I really hope they work on making sure all donuts are fresh. Their cornbread is good. I have a friend who wanted to try them so we went back and I still found them stale tasting, but great coffee.

I have a massive sweet tooth and am a big froyo fan. I tried Frozen Fruit Co's Frofru on a wimp and I will never turn back. The flavors are intense and amazing. Don't come to the store expecting ice cream or froyo - the desserts are completely different. The flavors are super intense and made just from fruit. The flavors on all of them was amazing. My favorite was the Raspberry and Orange (super sour). Service was friendly and helpful (I got to sample all flavors and some toppings before choosing). Will be back soon. read more
