Selected a delicious stout to begin while glancing at the menu. I opted for the Shepards Pie since my last one happened to be when I was last in London. Service was awesome and my plate arrived quickly. This place was full but not overly noisy! I loved the pairing of the stout with the meal. Delicious pie and was not rushed to make room at the bar! If you're driving anywhere close to Winchester, VA, you must stop and include Big L's Bagels in your visit. This bagel shop is hands down one of the best bagel shops in the United States. If you're a bagel lover like me, you won't be disappointed with the selection of bagels and sandwiches offered here. Let me start by saying how great the Dr. P and The Main Event sandwiches were. The Dr. P is an everything bagel with lox (smoked salmon), cream cheese, red onion, capers, and tomato. The Main Event is a bacon or sausage egg and cheese on an everything bagel. And don't forget to add avocado to any sandwich, it's a game changer. Lenny's secret sauce is also a perfect addition to all his sandwiches. My favorite bagel is the everything bagel, and Lenny's bagels are perfectly cooked and fresh. Lenny bakes them every day, and you can really taste the difference. The ingredients are also always fresh and delicious. In addition to the delicious bagels and sandwiches, Big L's Bagels also has a great atmosphere for dining in. The shop is nicely decorated and has plenty of room, making it a comfortable and welcoming space to enjoy your meal. The coffee is also exquisite and always hot, which is perfect for those looking to get some work or studying done. The ambiance is so warm and cozy, it's a great place to hang out and catch up with friends or colleagues. I always look forward to visiting Big L's Bagels not only for the amazing food but also for the wonderful dining experience. I was a daily customer at Big L's Bagels for over two years, and I still think about his sandwiches every day. Lenny is truly the best and cares about his customers. He always greets you with a smile and takes the time to get to know his customers. I will be a continued customer at Big L's Bagels and would recommend it to anyone who loves a good bagel. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! My husband and I were excited to go to Steamy's because we heard great things about their bagels and were looking forward to eating there. We were visiting Winchester for the first time. We walked through the front door at 11:30 AM and the owner asked if we were there to pick up an order. We said we were there to place an order and that's when he abruptly said it's pick up only. We asked if we should leave and he did not respond. His friend who was sitting on the other side of the counter said no we should stay and began to make recommendations of food we should order. Then the owner said he was busy slinging bacon and bagels and had two orders ahead of us. All the while a young woman not doing anything was standing nearby watching him work. We should've walked out right then and there but we were hungry and relied on the friends recommendations that we should stay. The owner went ahead and made the food and never engaged with us whatsoever. It was a very uncomfortable and strange interaction. When the order was ready the owner told us the coffee was old and of course he never offered to make a new pot. At this point we would not have been willing to wait had he. we left to go eat the food. When we opened it up we found an oily mess. My husband compared it to a greasy baseball. The bagels are NOT bagels. They claim they make bagels but they are actually garlic knots. The eggs were burnt, the spinach was oily, the avocado was old, and oil was dripping from the entire mess. Unfortunately, my husband ended up eating his "bagel" just because he was hungry. Afterwords we went online to read reviews about steamy's. One in particular was by a woman who said her husband ended up having stomach pains and diarrhea later on that day after having the same experience we did. It's only a matter of time before my husband will be sitting on the toilet too! DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY! read more

We stayed overnight in Winchester last night and I was really excited about trying Steamys this morning. I had heard good things about this coffeeshop and my interest was piqued. My husband, who is infinitely kind, down to earth, and very intelligent volunteered to walk down to Steamy's while I got a shower and grab a coffee for me. He was treated so poorly and like a fool for absolutely no reason. He walked in to find there wasn't a menu and he'd have to order online even though he was present in person. Being the flexible guy he is, he went with it and agreed to order online. The online menu has three food options for ordering- none of which are coffee. So my husband asked for some assistance navigating his online ordering process because it didn't include coffee and the owner told him TO LEAVE!!! Afterwards, my husband, who was flabbergasted, left an honest Facebook review and the owner decided to blast him on his own personal Facebook page. Upon further investigation this man tears down, attacks, and insults anyone that leaves him a poor review. We will never ever do business with this man I hope you choose to take your business elsewhere too. Instead, I had an AMAZING coffee from Bro Bears Drive Thru Coffee with a generous heap of kindness and hospitality on the side. TL;DR: Steamys coffeehouse is run by someone who lacks basic people skills, kindness, and humility. Drink BroBears coffee instead. Edit: yes I did create a yelp account to review this business which should speak to how little actually ends up bothering me enough to comment. We are easy going and 9.9/10 give people the benefit of the doubt. Your behavior is reprehensible. read more

I wish I can do zero stars!! To all people of color- black, Hispanic, asian, multi racial- dont go here!!! The owner is a racist!!!! He was super nasty to me, and can tell he did not wanted me in his establishment. He gave me a bite size bagel and was super rude to me and charge me 4.00$$$ for a bite size bagel with butter, nothing special. (He charged me more due to me not following his rules and ordering online or by text) He seems to enjoy beating up on people verbally. By the way... The dough was left out too long so it over fermented and had a tangy beer taste to the bread. Butter was good though! Hands down worst service and bagel I ever had in my life- Im from NJ so obviously I should have known better!! I don't understand and will never understand with all the tragedies we have in this world why would there be a person like this who is enjoying being cruel to people who is simply giving him business. If you notice all the 1 star reviews are all saying the same thing, and any 1 star reviews by minorities or people of color- or Italian people are being marked in response by the owner as bulling- saying he thought the African American was going to Rob him, he belittled the Hispanic asking if he could read, and my favorite was Ali who he basically demeaned. Right off the bat the owners a pompous jerk who is self centered. He literally has a website about himself where he calls himself his own little nickname, "the doughboy" and he and claims to be an "ambassador" to the City of Winchester. The way he talks to people reminds me of somebody who thinks they're better than everyone else. If you're trying to act like a real NYC bagel shop owner, you're failing miserably. If you act that way in the real city you won't last. Aside from being a tool bag he burned my bagel on purpose simply because my girlfriends father didn't want anything after receiving "Lenny Sweets" Little attitude. The only reason why this place has such a high rating is because it's full of self centered hipsters who, much like the owner, are so narcissistic and self centered that they all gather and wallow in their own smugness. So I settled on the blueberry pancake and the holiday sprinkle (seasonal) with a cup of coffee (only $5.99). What I then learned is that each doughnut is 1) a cake doughnut (just for those who favor/don't favor this type of doughnut), 2) is made to order (as in the toppings and/or stuffing), and 3) they all come out warm! The coffee is a medium roast, but on the darker side. Just a FYI. I sat down at the window bench and looked out on the dismay day that was about to get exponentially better. The doughnuts, for the short period of time they lasted, were a work of art (be sure to check out my photos). They paired well with the coffee and left me wishing I had made the bigger commitment of ordering half a dozen. But there will be more visits in the future. So unassuming on the outside but inside it was large and adorable. Lots of seating. Service was a little slow but I don't mind waiting for a crafted coffee drink! He told us the profits from the Back 40 are directed to local non-profits. Breakfast sandwiches are unique and tasty. Lattes yummy. (Smooth, no bite.) In the restroom you'll use white cotton towels instead of disposable paper towels. It's a whole in the wall but don't miss it. Small and funky and fun, really. Staff very sweet and attentive.
