I rarely leave negative reviews, but the experience I had here was honestly shocking. The employee working when I visited was extremely rude from the moment my group and I walked in. There was no greeting, no basic courtesy, and when I asked a simple question about the menu I was met with attitude and eye-rolling. I understand everyone has bad days, but working in customer service means at least treating customers with a basic level of respect. Instead, I felt like I was inconveniencing them just by ordering a drink. The whole interaction felt hostile and uncomfortable. The coffee itself was average, but the service completely ruined the experience. There are plenty of coffee shops where staff actually appreciate their customers, so I won't be coming back here. read more

Super cute location and the friendliest staff! Our group with us weren't accustomed to non-chain spots and took a bit of time to decide what they would like to drink as well as food. The incredibly patient lady at the register waited on us with ease and complete understanding. Everything was tasty and environment was very appealing. My pumpkin spice latte, loving boyfriend was drawn in by the sign. I wasn't going to get anything, but last minute I decided on a seasonal apple cider iced tea to wet my whistle. I was a little grumpy and off putt by the price tag because I'm super frugal. Well, let me tell you that the apple cider iced tea blew my freaking mind. Black tea, fresh pressed cider, real maple syrup, and cinnamon.... topped with a surprise apple cider doughnut! Pure heaven in a little plastic cup. I wish I ordered a bigger one. I was sad when it was gone. If I lived close, I would give them all of my money to make sure that's the only thing I ever drink again for the rest of my life. My boyfriend liked his hot pumpkin spice latte, but let's be real... That iced tea was the star of the show. Also, the nice man behind the counter overheard me tell my boyfriend that we had about 10 minutes before the parking meter ran out and he kindly informed us that we didn't actually have to feed the parking meter that we put all our quarters into already because they don't charge on weekends. So, we got to enjoy our treat while we walked around a little longer before having to drive home unafraid of parking tickets. He wants me to mention ambience... This place seemed so pleasant through the lens of other reviews but when I arrived it seemed. Fine. The options for food are relegated to wraps and bagels. I went with a bagel sandwich and a croissant. The food took geological time to come out and then in front of me was a croissant sliced in half with cold butter next to it that refused to spread and a bagel sandwich. The bagel sandwich options were between "hot, hotter, and hottest." I've never been so let down by these three options since I got lost in a 3rd rate strip club with a 4th rate seating arrangement. The hotter option barely could be registered and the hot sauce was barely on even the egg of the breakfast sandwich. The tea was fine but it was over priced and scalding. Tea should never be steeped at boiling cause it burns the leaves. For all the pomp and circumstance of the beverage options here, it was a major letdown. I would go here to act like I was studying and then play video games on my laptop but not for the cafe itself at all. read more

This place has so many different types of espresso and coffee! They have food and coffee cocktails, but I only got a to-go coffee since we were already headed to brunch. Flavor (5/5): I got a small latte ($4.45) with almond milk and lavender (+$0.50). It was absolutely amazing! I've been on a lavender coffee kick for the past few months, trying them at every place I go. This place had the best one. It was sweet yet not too sweet, herbal yet not a garden, and frothy yet not all foam. It was perfect. I would come here every morning if I could. My friend got the large Breve ($5.55). He said it was too rich for him, but it was still made well. Price (5/5): I think the prices are reasonable for a coffee shop, if not on the low end. I'd happily spend $4.95 at a local coffee shop again vs a big chain. Service (5/5): Everyone there was absolutely sweet. One of them knew my friend, and they chatted about their coffee cocktails!!! The coffee is excellent, the food is good, the service is great, but what makes this place amazing is its community spirit. The quirky shopping options are always fantastic. It's just a great space to be in, very welcoming and bright. It's one of the best options on the walking mall. They also have a full bar and a lot of fun planned events to pick from. Coffee is consistently bad and service is consistently worse. They make you feel as if you burdened them by stepping into their cafe. I've only ever been in when that one overly pompous man is working, but if this is going to be your career at least take some pride in making people a good cup of coffee. One trip to Hideaway and I'm already looking at the calendar to see when my next trip will be to Winchester so I can revisit this charming gem. It's absolutely everything I want in a cafe: warm, inviting, full of adorable-ness at every nook & cranny, stellar customer service and most importantly - high quality eats & drinks. When I was searching online for a cafe/breakfast spot in the area, I was drawn to Hideaway because of their inclusive messaging. Every snippet I found online boasted about the cafe being a safe space for EVERYONE. This year has given emphasis to my desire to make intentional choices about the businesses I support. This is exactly the kind of business I want to endorse and where I want to spend my money. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the front door. My order was taken quickly and with genuine warmth. Since I ordered a few breakfast items, I was given the option to take a seat anywhere inside while the food was prepared. I was even updated a couple of times on the status of my order, even though everything was complete within about 15 minutes. My partner and I are big fans of matcha and these were the best matcha lattes we've had in YEARS. Probably ever. We were very impressed with the quality of the matcha and grateful for the option to sub regular milk for oat milk. What we weren't ready for was how amazing the food was! I'm not usually a fan of breakfast wraps, but the dude is, so we ordered an egg-normous breakfast wrap, an avocado & everything bowl, a french toast muffin and a bag of chips. I would eat that breakfast wrap every day for the rest of my life and die a very happy person. It was packed with amazing flavor and the sausage tasted QUALITY. I keep repeating the word "quality", huh? It's now synonymous with Hideaway! The avo bowl was also bursting with flavor and included the best quinoa either of us has ever had in our lives. I don't know if they crisp it up with the everything bagel seasoning or what, but it was like little crispy explosions of flavor that had us both wanting to lick the container. The bacon was amazing and the egg was ... let's say it all together now ... QUALITY. !!! The french toast mufffin was just as fun as it sounds and it is HUUUUGE! Definitely generous enough for sharing, unless you're having it as your meal. The crunchy topping is oh-so-satisfying. The trip before this, we found our favorite pizza place within 100+ miles, now we have a favorite cafe too. I stopped by Hideaway because of the tree in the window decorated with coffee (it's December), but I stayed for the atmosphere and great coffee! There are tons of games--everything from I Spy for the little ones (and, honestly, my whole crew) made with toys in resin on a tray that is surprisingly challenging to Secret Hitler and Punderdome. They also have books, all of which looked interesting, and an embroidered sign that designates it as a safe place. That has to be a welcome sign to see (it was for me!) and a hard sign to put up in a small town. I just loved everything about this place. Oh, the coffee? DELICIOUS. read more

Best place to go study and chill. Bright natural lighting to do work or some reading. Spacious, lots of seating, kid friendly, good coffee, good vibes. Music is aite- they'll change to the next song sometimes if it's a .. "what song is that? Is that seriously being played right now?" -kind of song. Coffee talk. It's a simple menu of coffee that feeds your caffeine needs. The barista said they just added hazelnut to their flavors and I was like GOOD- cause I love my hazelnut lattes. Got a soy hazelnut latte and it was good! The art is there. The mug is the perfect size. I'm still up and going and it has been a good 6 hours now. I also tried a dirty chai because why not? I'll definitely have to try their chai latte on its own but they brew their own chai tea. Anyway, wish I found this place sooner so I could've gone there to study more on the weekends. They also have food! So I'll definitely have to lock myself in there one day to hash out all my work for as long as I can. Coffee prices are standard coffee prices. Giving it 4-stars because of their hours. It's a standard 8-5pm cafe... fine... whatever. But you know, I work at 8 til 5 and sometimes I need to go get work done too... or even want to stop by before work to grab something ... so I mean, if only it opened an hr earlier and closed at like 10 on the weekdays... The woman who owns the place is too sweet! We got our food delivered by doordash and she wrote cute notes on all the boxes! It just shows how much effort and care is put into the food if that much care is put into the boxing of the food. I had the turkey sandwich and was full after 3 bites! First visit and I'm a fan. The atmosphere itself is unique, mellow, welcoming and fun. Their mug collection is just...too damn cute. You'll find gems like, "Is it gay in here, or is it just me", "goal digger", and even one with a ouija board picture screened onto it. There's plenty of space, natural light and its situated on the edge of the walking mall with outdoor seating available as well. I opted for an iced almond milk latte (my usual anywhere) and was talked into a white chocolate cranberry scone I was contemplating. The scones are made in-house (tidbit offered up by the friendly and helpful barista) and it was really friggin yummy. Im not a huge sweets fan and this was a little sweeter than I'd usually like...but not overdone in anyway. Id definitely order it again when I have a craving. My latte is simply on point. The roast is dry and rich with a unique, fresh, deep flavor. Im in love. The bonus is...its not drowned out by too much almond milk, which a lot of places tend to do. This shop is right out my front door, but I'd rather walk to the other end of the walking mall or drive across town than go here. Honestly I have never felt welcome here, when it is a place that is supposed to be a welcoming atmosphere. I work in food service, so I know that you cannot bring outside food or drinks in, but I stopped in on the way home one day with a drink in my hand and was treated VERY rude, even though I asked if I could order food TO-GO and just wait and not drink it, after much attitude I waited reluctantly outside, but I wish I would not have went through with my purchase. I have been here multiple times as I have tried to give it many chances. When I was told one time that I had to limit my wifi usage to an hour, when I was trying to do school work there, that was my last attempt. Food is okay, they have gluten free bread which is the only reason I have even gone there to get any food since my first bad experience. Do not recommend, literally even would rather go to starbucks, at least their coffee tastes like coffee and you get service with a smile. read more

For an artsy local coffee shop and sandwich or sweet it is a great spot near the Children's discovery museum. It anchors the pedestrian mall and serves Red Rooster local roasted coffee. The Cold Brew was outstanding. Sandwiches were light on ingredients but very tasty. Reminder me of Pascuals in Santa Fe NM.
