I LOVE Big Momma's! If you don't pre order your rolls for ALL of your holiday get togethers from here... then you are not on the winning team my friend. Their rolls are ALWAYS a talking point at the table lol. I've been rocking with them since early 2000s. Now, today I was near and wanted to try their sandwiches out! I built my own beef sandwich and my goodness did every bite taste like they built it with love. The bread... if you know then you know. The amount of beef was appropriate for the bread size! I mean... look at the picture! It speaks for itself . Black owned and so delicious. Trust me, and order the rolls

Oh my GOD I am so glad we stopped by Big Momma's during our visit to KC. There were no other customers at the time of our visit so we received full attention of the employee behind the counter. We were interested in their cinnamon rolls, obviously, which are offered in a few different sizes: mini momma, little momma, and big momma. I cannot for the life of me think of a scenario that would warrant the purchase of any size other than the biggest mother fucking roll they make. Needless to say, we went with a big momma. It was delicately placed in a tin container large enough to house this whale of a cinnamon roll. An icing drizzle is provided to the degree of your specific taste. We had a drive to southwestern MO after our purchase so we weren't able to break into this bad boy until many hours and refrigeration later. I tore off the plastic lid and carefully lifted this mammoth of a cinnamon roll out of its container. The big momma has the approximate diameter of a dinner plate and is comparable to the size of my head. Despite being refrigerated for a period of time, it still maintained fluffiness. The dough part was soft and light and flanked by the PERFECT amount of cinnamon sugar. It was an absolute DREAM. We took down the entire thing in record time. If you have an opportunity to visit, you must. Don't bother fucking around, just get the big momma.

stopped by for some breakfast, really good cinnamon rolls! biscuits and gravy was not as good but i'll definitely be back for those cinnamon rolls!! good service, not many places to sit inside but it's right across from a home depot so im sure it's just because of clientele always hurrying out the door!

Every visit here has been pleasant. There is only one guy that works the counter it seems so the service is a little slow but so very worth the wait. The dinner rolls are my absolute favorite! They have delicious baked treats for reasonable prices. I've ordered several breakfast and lunch sandwiches and they've never disappointed! It's neatly decorated with with another business merchandise being sold inside.

The most Wonderful chicken salad sandwich you'll ever have! This photo gives it no Justice, but I promise you, it's Delicious!

Hey There, Another great spot that I've been ROLLIN' with for a long time is being revealed to some and a reminder for others to revisit. I've gone to Big Momma's since it's Crown Center Days. Omg! It was delectable Then and it still is, Now. How refreshing to pop in and have my palate do the 'Happy Dance' once again. It was like bumping into an 'old flame' that you STILL have mad love for and haven't seen in years (yes, old flames can still burn). This place has all types of deliciousness going on with its wide variety of HUGE cinnamon rolls, cakes, cookies and sandwiches. They also serve wonderful breakfast entrees and coffee that leaves you pondering about the 'next time' even before you leave. I recently stopped into this here 'love spot' and I could hardly wait to sink my teeth into a big ole HOMEMADE roll with 'The Best' HOMEMADE chicken salad in between! Umph, umph, umph is all I can say!!! I had the gentleman cut it in 4 pieces (I don't know WHY I thought I'd eat a few bites and save the rest, what the heck)! He warmed it a few seconds in the microwave and BA-BY it was ON! It started out slow and I SAVORED EV-ER-Y bite. After half of the sandwich disappeared, I wrapped the remaining half and placed it back in the sack. A short while later (very short), I grabbed another piece and it was a wrap. I couldn't save anymore. Like a Turkey runnin' from its captor I gobbled the rest before I could make it home. Geeezzzz. So bad of me, but Oh sooooo good! You all MUST give this quaint hidden treasure a try! I do believe you'll enjoy it. Other sandwiches are a hit as well, but the chicken salad has always been at the top. Don't chance them running out of it. They also have great rolls and take orders for them all the time. Right now they are in their Thanksgiving rush so it would behoove you to run on down, try (warmed up) then place your order in time for the upcoming Holiday. Do it and tell them they come highly recommended. Happy Eating!

Unsure if they had more options in the back, but outside of macaroons, no gf options. They do have tea but it's not advertised on their menu. They have such cute teapots and cups for their tea. Had the fig honey latte, they do have either oat or whole milk options. Slightly sweet, and very good. I ended up with almond croissant which was flaky, slightly sweet, and great mouth feel.

I went for the pistachio honey latte (I'm a sucker for pistachio!) and snagged the last veggie quiche of the morning around 11am. Both were absolutely delicious and perfect for breakfast. My friend had the rosewater croissant and a strawberry matcha iced latte--both equally unique and delightful. Despite being a bustling Saturday morning, the staff was incredibly kind and efficient. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, making it a cozy spot no matter the weather. For parking, I'd recommend Westport Road or 40th Street (west of Main) and taking a short walk. Preordering whole quiches, tarts, cookies, cupcakes may require 48 hours' notice. Enchanté is more than just a bakery--it's a little slice of magic in Kansas City. I can't wait to go back and try more seasonal goodies!

To step through its threshold is to surrender to the siren song of warmth that curls from the oven like a whispered secret. I have made it my pilgrimage to traverse the entirety of their menu, a culinary odyssey that has yielded no false steps, only a symphony of consistency that borders on the miraculous. Each offering, from the flaky, golden architecture of their pastries to the robust, honest comfort of their savory fare, is a testament to the artisan's hand. Here, affordability is not a sacrifice of quality but a generous invitation, a rare confluence where the exquisite meets the accessible. There is a certain magic in the air at McLain's, a sweetness that feels woven into the very fabric of the establishment. It is a place that understands the language of comfort, speaking it fluently in the dialect of a perfect crust or the rich, dark notes of a expertly pulled espresso. It is perhaps no surprise that such a bastion of authentic delight has garnered a reputation that extends far beyond our local borders; if the standard of excellence is high enough to grace the plate of Taylor Swift, then surely, it is more than enough for us, the grateful residents who claim this treasure as our own. Yet, beyond the flour-dusted counters and the glowing glass cases, my deepest admiration is reserved for their spirit. In a world that often measures worth in cold, transactional metrics, McLain's chooses to honor those who pour themselves into the future of our community. As a teacher, I feel that recognition in the small gestures, the welcoming nods, and the genuine appreciation they extend to educators. It is a profound kindness, a recognition that the work of shaping minds requires nourishment, both intellectual and literal. They understand that a classroom is a marathon, and they act as the essential pit stop, providing the fuel that keeps the light of inquiry burning bright. To dine at McLain's is to participate in a ritual of belonging. It is a place where the passage of time is marked not by the ticking of a clock, but by the turning of the oven trays. It is a reliable heartbeat in the neighborhood, steadfast and true, offering a reprieve from the clamor of the outside world. Whether one seeks a quiet moment of reflection over a cup of coffee or a celebratory feast that honors the simple, profound joy of eating well, McLain's remains an unrivaled steward of taste. It is not merely a bakery; it is the living, breathing soul of Waldo, a place where every bite serves as a reminder that some things in this life are exactly as good as they ought to be.

A few months ago my sister and I hosted a baby shower for our other sister and after looking around an options we decided to go with McLains. It was a smaller group, and we were doing a brunch theme, and our sister LOVES sweets. That paired with our desire to support local, and our shared love of McLains, this was just the most obvious choice. We ended up ordering a cake and first of all I have to say their cake flavor choices are insane - I think we settled on a chocolate cake with peanut butter filling (YUM), but I don't think you can go wrong here. We also ordered one of their pre-set pastry bundles for pick up and honestly everything was wonderful. I think I placed the order about a week out and it was ready when I came to pick it up. What pushed this experience into five star category for me? Just the friendliness of the staff, the serving tools they send you home with, and how thoughtful everyone was. The food was also really just exactly what we needed and it was so good there were hardly any leftovers, I think the kids cleared us out by lunch! At any rate, if you're on the hunt for a great spot to support for your next brunch event consider McLains - they won't let you down!
