**disclaimer: I am visiting from California and reviewing different food spots in Missouri**…read moreWith that being said... Food: I know why this place got recognized on tv! It's really good! Fall off the bone meat, plenty of different sauces to try, fun drink options. What we ordered: Big Muddy - 10/10 had brisket and smoked sausage in it. Had to add more horseradish sauce to it but that's just my preference. Brisket Plate - 9/10 brisket was delicious but knocking off a point because the sides were...ok. Coleslaw had NO flavor just like mush and the Potato salad was nothing to write home about. Needed more flavor. Brownie pie slice: 10/10 moist and crumbly crust. I want an entire pie! Service: There was no one there when we arrived so we had no experience with any wait time. Just went right up to the front to order our meals and they chopped the meat up right in front of us, placed on a tray on top of the counter and we took it to the register to pay. Self service and self seating establishment. The lady at the register was very nice and happy. No complaints there! She was interested to know where we were visiting from and how we liked the food. Ambiance: this place looks cool! With hints of retro vibe inside! The ceiling says the name in a cool work of art. Plenty of seating inside and outside. Final review: Yes! I liked it and would return!

St. Louis BBQ strikes again. This place was not good, from a food standpoint at least,…read more I walked in just before noon and there was no line. Red flag? You order at the counter, which was easy, and then pay at the end of the line. The cashier was super helpful and offered recommendations on sauces and offered pickles or jalapeños for my To Go order. I ordered the Big Muddy sandwich which came with brisket, sausage, lettuce and pickles. It was also supposed to have horseradish and bbq sauce, but it did not. Maybe because it was To Go? The brisket was sliced right in front of me, but it was bad. It looked tender, but it was supper fatty and could handle be chewed. I spit most of it out. The problem was probably a bad cut of meat and not the smoking, but they still served it to me. The sausage was great, but only had a couple of little slices. I added some of the sweet sauce which was very good. I chose the beans for my side. Fine, but nothing special. A little dry, so I added sauce to help it go down. Then they had some local soda option, so I passed on an overpriced drink. It looks like there are more local options in the area, I would try somewhere else if ever back in this area.

I split a full rack with mom for my most recent birthday meal and I was not disappointed! Naturally, we each had plenty of leftovers. The ribs came out with that perfect dark, smoky bark that's packed with flavor. The meat underneath was oh so tender. For one side, I went with applesauce - a classic. Appropriately chilled, it was a nice, fresh component to a largely roll-me-out-the-door meal. It was topped with a very confident amount of cinnamon. Heavy-handed for my taste, but if cinnamon is your jam, you'll be thrilled. The baked beans, however, came in hot. And I don't mean temperature; I mean with a spicy surprise. The sweetness of the applesauce cut down the bite of the heat, but I longed for milk to put out the little fire on my tongue. I have a low threshold for spicy food, so you may be quite alright with it, but it was a surprise to me. Pappy's is, hands down, my go-to BBQ spot. First enamored by the location nearest downtown, and thoroughly thrilled when they arrived in my city.

The potato salad was dry and pasty. The baked beans were much too spicy. Their service was very fast but it was a workarant. You had to order sit and they delivered it to you. The place was nice decorated with even handicapped restrooms. All in all I would go back for the ribs for sure. S.L.

This is easily a five-star review, and it's coming from someone who isn't a true BBQ lover. This…read moreplace was suggested by a local, and I am so glad that I went because it was the best BBQ that I have ever had. I wasn't sure what to order, but the friendly staff recommended that I have the brisket, and I'm so glad I heeded their advice. The brisket sandwich was the most tender meat that I have ever had. I had never had brisket before having that sandwich, now my mouth waters any time I talk about this restaurant! The cole slaw that I had as a side provided the perfect crunch and balance. My mate had the pulled pork sandwich, which was also very tender. I also loved having a variety of barbecue sauces on the table and was able to try each one. Everyone has a preference, I'm sure, but after trying each one, I am completely sold on the Carolina gold. Also, I do not typically have a fountain soda, but the cola that was on tap was some of the best that I'd ever tasted. 10 out of 10 for Sugarfire, and I will definitely be returning the next time I'm in St. Louis!

The giant pig statue in front of the restaurant was actually quite informative, as it described where the meat comes from on a pig. Anyway, as I entered the restaurant, I stood in line. It was quite busy for a Saturday afternoon. There are long tables with many seats, so seating wasn't an issue. It is a first come first served dining situation. I ordered the 2-meat plate: brisket, ribs, baked beans, and potato salad. The brisket and the sides were definitely my favorite parts. The brisket was so tender, it basically fell apart in my hands! It was delicious! The baked beans were tangy and sweet, and the potato salad was creamy. I didn't like the ribs, they were very dry and definitely not worth the money. The barbecue sauces are in bottles on the table; my personal favorite was the Honey Badger, sweet with a little bit of heat. I found the Coffee BBQ sauce to be the most interesting; I have never had anything like it before. The coffee notes were subtle and helped balance out the smoky flavors. While I enjoyed the majority of my food, I am not sure if I will be returning. It was a nice experience, but the dry ribs left me feeling disappointed.
