Brought my car in for new tires. I had all 4 of my rims plastidip mate black prior to bringing in. When I got new tires all 4 of my rims the plastidip was scratched off. There was the plastidip left but it was all scratched up. When I brought my car back they were no help at all and just told me the most they would do is spray paint over it. The attitude they gave was disrespectful and not helpful at all if 0 stars was a option I would give. No help to the customers at all. Every time I come in there are employees at the computers or on the phone, I understand they are probably busy but when you get no sort of greet what so ever it's kinda rude. Then when someone is at the computer and just walks to the back without telling me who is gunna help anything your left standing there feeling kinda stupid. TERRIBLE knowledge of tires, TERRIBLE customer service, JUST PLAIN TERRIBLE SERVICE. Started out going in because my tires were howling down the road. I have been going to this big o for 20 plus years. I get there and the the lady comes out looks at my tires and says my tires are cupping and thats what is making the noise. She then says its because my shocks are bad. I proceed to tell her that they changed the shocks when I got the tires. So we go in and the other salesman says that they were not wearing right and that I had to talk to Jason to warrantee them out to manufacture. I take it back 2 days later for Jason to look at around 12:30 and he says it will take about 1 1/2. He calls me at 4:45 and ask me if I have been doing my alignments I told him yes with my mechanic. He says well I have been doing this for 25 years and it doesn't look like it. So I said are you calling me a liar. He told me not to get so defensive. He then tells me that both my ball joints needed to replaced at $1,250.00 and also my alignment was out. I told him I will be in to pick up my truck. Jason would not even come out and talk to me about the situation. THIS IS WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE for someone who has been doing this for 25 years would should really know how to deal with customers. The next day I take it to another big o tire dealer (MILPITAS WHO I HIGHLY RECOMMEND) and don't mention what happened with the newark big o tire company. They put it on the rack check my alignment they say the toe is out a bit and give me a complete print out of the alignment as Jason company did not. The also stated in writing that my ball joints are fine condition for the mileage on my truck. With no play in the ball joints. I then proceed to file a complaint against big o tire in newark. Later that afternoon Jason calls me and insist on me bringing my truck in to show me that the ball joints are bad. I told me why would I do that since I have it in writing that there's nothing on with the ball joints or Shocks as he's employee said they were. I finally had to tell him lets agree to disagree so I could get him off the phone. 2 weeks later I finally get a call from customer relations and they want me to take the truck in to Jason with the district manger David Lynch to show me the ball joints are bad. WHAT A JOKE THIS COMPANY IS. Why would I want to do this after the HASSLE AND DISRESPECT I HAD RECEIVE FROM BIG O TIRES. The district manager David Lynch OFFERED ME A $100 GIFT CARD. I told him I don't care about the money. Its the people who don't know anything about cars would of paid $1250 for something that they did not need and probably a new set of tires on top of it. I called on the 14th November customer service they said to send all my paperwork from big o Milpitas. Then someone would call me with in 24-48 hrs and of course I don't hear from anyone. I call back on Friday they tell my that the regional manager look at it and said since I didn't take the $100 gift card that was offered there was not much they can do and closed the case. Big O Tires has been here as long as I can remember... obviously, they must be doing something right if they're still in business 20+ years. I've been here twice lately, due to having slow leaks in both of my cars due to a nail and a screw that we must have picked up on the road some where. First time, I called and told them that my wife will be bringing our infiniti over there to get a tire leak fixed. They said it would take about 45 minutes to get it done. Wife dropped off the car and had her dad pick her up... 2 and a half hours later, the car was finally done, and the best part, they didn't charge to repair the leak! They said its because they made my wife wait so long, but I think its because they were eye balling my wife! lol Either way... glad we didn't have to pay. Most recently, I had a slow leak on my Lexus... told me it would be $20, then he took a look at my car and said "those are low profile tires so its $30". I don't have aftermarket rims, but my stock rims are 19"... so whatever. They told me 45 minutes, but it really took them an hour. I didn't mind because one the one guy (short, I think he was filipino) working on my car looked like he was being extra cautious and taking his time. I can appreciate that. Two weeks later, the tire is holding up perfectly fine to my daily beating on it. read more

This place is awesome. Great customer service. Knowledgeable professionals. Jonathan helped me out over the course of two visits and I would trust him to get the right service rolling on a car any time. Non-judgmental about my (LOW) knowledge level, too. Comfortable waiting area with one couch and a table with some stools. TV, WiFi, bathroom. Wendy's next door and also some Chinese restaurants. Tip: it takes a while to get work done on your car no matter where you go. If you flip out about it like an overgrown entitled brat, that just makes you an overgrown entitled brat. I have been that overgrown entitled brat before myself so hey, I feel you. We are all human. But trust me -- that's not a good look for you, my dude, and these guys are doing their best! I've been going here for a few years now and by default my wife and my parents go here as well for all the maintences and automobile repairs we have. I'd have to say that these guys are stand up people. I don't feel like they're out to get an extra dollar and tend to keep it real. In a time where everyone is wondering whether or not they are getting scammed, at least from what I can tell they do a good job. I have had major repairs performed at this Big O. I blew my manual transmission and brought it here. They fixed in, which took a couple days, and I haven't had a problem since. Other simple things I have gotten done was car alignments, tire repair and just a general car inspection. My parents needed their car brakes changed, we didn't remember the last time the brakes were changed. When we came in Big O informed us that they needed to be changed immediately, they were less than 1mm thick and that anything less than 3mm they advise to change them. My wife just went there for a tune up, she has also gotten tires from them (bad experience with America Tires) and gets her oil changes here. The shop itself has about four engine bays. They do all automotive repairs. My last experience here I came to get my brakes checked out. I got my brakes changed at 60k, I got them looked at around 115k (they said I had a lot of time before they had to get changed) so I came back at 132k last week. I fully expected to get my brakes changed. Online it even states that depending on how you brake you can last up to 70k between changing brakes. I never felt anything wrong with my brakes; no pulling to one side, squeaking or difficulty braking. They checked my brakes out and said that they were still great and in good shape. My front brakes were measuring at 11mm and my back brakes were at 6mm. The only thing DJ said was that my rear rotors are safe but should get changed soon. If they change the rear rotors the rear brakes should be changed as well. That being said, he stated that everything from a safety standpoint, my car is great. I was shocked and fully expected to have my brakes changed. I'll be going back to Big O in 10k to have them checked again. What stuck out to me the most about Big O is that they inspect your vehicle for free. Rather than Wheel Works who is right across the street, they change $20 to look at your vehicle. I'd rather save $20, who wouldn't? I am a little skeptical with who works on my cars and I do agree that it's scary whenever a mechanic says you need this or that when you only come in for one thing. I do think that this place is a stand up establishment. read more

Be prepared for the up sell. 1. I went in an ordered high end Michelin tires. I get a call two days later saying, "we ordered the wrong size" and ended up buying the Big O Tire equivalent. It might be an honest mistake... It might not be. I agreed to the new tire, but there's always a possibility that this was a bait and switch. 2. I get a call saying my air filter is horrible and I should change it. It wasn't much money so I did it, but I started to feel like I was getting taken advantage of at this point. 3. I get a third call saying my "alignment is way off and it needs to be fixed!" My BS detector if screaming at this point. I declined and took my car to another shop for a second opinion and there was no alignment issues. My vehicle is only a year old and is in no way pulling left or right. The trust between myself and Big O Tires has been compromised and I will no longer patronize this establishment. On a happier note, the staff was mostly friendly and there is free coffee and water while you wait. There's also many shops in the strip mall to go to as well. If you're ready to say no to up sells, this might be a good place for you. read more

This is the second time i've gone here and I am pretty much done with the place. Both times I had to get a flat tire patched due to a nail and the first time I went, I waited 2 hrs. The second time I went in for the same thing and waited 1.5 hours and nothing happened. I'll admit the place is an appointment priority but its really inefficient. You have the same guy who's doing a 5 hr job also in charge of doing a 15 minute tire patch. There are 4 sales people who are there to greet people and get them signed in but when its slow, they can at least be trained to work on quicker problems to get people in and out faster. I walked out after a 1 hr wait to check to see if the car was touched and nothing. Second time 30 minutes later and still nothing so I walked back in and had to wait for the 2 sales people to finish their story up before they would acknowledge that I was standing there a lil upset. read more

Bought tires nine months ago in Livermore, I ran over a nail and got a flat had to drive on my spare for two days because I work 72 hours a week and the hours that Big O is open didn't match up with mine, I was able to leave 30 mins early from Fremont and got to this location just as they were closing, someone came right out grabbed my tire and fixed it. I didn't pay anything because it was under warranty, this is probably one of the best automotive related experiences I've ever had, it was such a relief I thought I was gonna get the runaround and it was the complete opposite I'm so grateful! read more

Made an appointment for 4 new tires a 4 wheel alignment and an oil change, was quoted $1800. Dropped the car off at 9:30 in the morning and was called at 4:30 that my car was ready. I get there to pick up my car and they say we couldn't do your alignment because your car has adaptive cruise control, and it was taken off of the bill. OK that's fine, but I couldn't get a call telling me you weren't able to do it. Take the car home and realize that they didn't reset the service due light, I call them in the morning and they say no problem bring it in and they'll take care of it. Bring it in and again they say that they can't do it and I'll need to bring it somewhere else... If they knew that they wouldn't be able to do an alignment or turn off the service light on an Audi they should have never accepted the job to begin with, and if I would have known that they weren't able to do 2 of the 3 things that I needed done properly I would have taken it somewhere else to begin with. read more

Excellent service. I needed a flat fix on one tire I thought I bought at BigO when I purchase a full set there. It turns out that NONE of the tires was the original. Two wore out and were replaced when I had major service on my car, and two were replaced when my car was in an accident. BigO fixed the flat anyway, no charge, no hassles, and NO attitude. May 4, 2020, I go into get a tire replaced. The tire stands out from the rest of them, due to size difference . I have my front brake pads replaced today. Before leaving the dealer tells me they need to cut the screw due to bad lug nut placement. I have not had any work aside from the oil change, so my tire hasn't been touched. I contacted the store, spoke with the manager he agreed to fix the damage that has been. I told him that I would be into Friday morning. I then called him back and told him that Id been in shortly, as I travel and needed to keep my schedule. He tell me that he could do it today, due to timing. I asked how long it would take and he stated that it would take an hour and a half. I looked at my clock it's 4:35. If he started now then it would be done at 6:05... he can't promise that. Hello asked him specific questions, and he couldn't respond promptly. The were five associates including him during this interaction. He claim d that he needed to order a part, in order to complete the job. I asked him how long would it take.... he response, I don't know. Which is the wrong thing to say. Not once did step outside to look at my car. At first he was trying to place blame, but he couldn't, as the tire was never moved. The shop is now refusing to correct the damage that has been done, due to him feeling like he was being attacked verbally. I didn't cuss him, I merely asked direct questions in a firm tone. I had basically nothing but problems with this place from day 1. So my parents were out of town, and they are VERY discriminative of any sort of money I put into my car. So while they were on a trip to LA, I decided to go ahead and replace my whole rim/tire setup while they were gone. I had called big-o tires to inquire on a set of harder to find Sumitomo HTR 200 tires... and they had them in stock: Quoting me for $58.00 a tire... very decently priced, only about $10 more than tirerack.com who were sold out, and charged shipping. So I ordered 4. Here's where the problems begin. My work schedule didn't allow me to be with the shop when they mounted them on 4 rims that I brought along in the trunk... so I called ahead and explained word for word to the manager on what I needed done. it was very simple: 1.) Take off my old rims and tires 2.) Take the replacement rims and tires out of my trunk 3.) Put the new sumitomo's on those replacement rims and mount them on the car. 4.) Put the old tires/rims in my trunk. 5.) Lock the car and leave it for me to pick up. In addition, just in case something happened memory wise, I left a very detailed set of instructions TAPED to my steering wheel for the installer to read. Thinking this was thorough enough (certainly, right?), I dropped off my car at 7:00AM and went to explain things to the manager once again. Problem 1: They misquoted me on the tires Turns out, they weren't $58.00 a tires... they were $69.00 a tire! That's a $40 dollar difference total! I was in a rush to get these tires mounted, so I decided to bite the bullet and go with it.... what else could go wrong? So I left to work, knowing I was spending more money, but the job was going to get done as planned.... or so I thought. Problem 2: Either someone can't read, or the manager decided to just not tell anybody ANYTHING Quite anxious about my car all day, anticipating the new looks/ride quality of my new setup... I spent most of my free time at work daydreaming about how much better my car would be with the new rubber mounted on it. So once it was clock out time, I was as jittery as a 10 year old in 1996 opening a Nintendo 64 on christmas morn. So I get dropped off at Big-O and the sight I beheld made my jaw drop as LOW as it could possibly go. Big-O ignored ALL of my instructions. My car was sitting in their parking lot, with my OLD rims still on, but mounted with my NEW tires! My replacement rims were STILL sitting VISIBLY in my trunk/rear seat... .and I had no clue where my old tires went (two of they were RACE Tires!) And the note was gone... where did it go? Why didn't anyone read it? I was pissed. So how was this deal all rectified? A couple irritating calls later, management apologized and told be quite "snappily" to bring her back and we'll fix it all up. So I had to explain it all again to management... left ANOTHER note on the seat. So 2 days later, I had to arrange for another ride to work, and another ride back, and returned to see my car FINALLY the way I wanted it... sort of... Problem 3: Lack of following directions... for a second time -The old rims did not have the old tires mounted on them like I wanted... so we needed to remount/balance all of them. Despite all this frustration with the tire changing service, I do have to give at least 1 extra star for their customer service. Big-O didn't charge me anything for rectifying their mistake, and as a plus they balanced all of my old tires when they were replaced back onto my old rims for free... in addition they stayed open another half an hour to finish the job. So there you have it.... I went into Big-O expecting a painless, convenient experience... and ended with an irritating feeling in my mouth. I'm not going back there unless something happens and I need to use my road hazard warranty. Summary: -Go to this Big-O if you JUST want your tires replaced... special instructions just confuse the workers. -Shop around for the price of tires before purchasing them, and make SURE the price they quote you is about right. -Just go to tirerack.com.... they're just better in every way possible. I've had mixed experiences at this store over the years, but my latest experience is my last. I needed to get a pair of tires and walked in to the store with keys in hand and the receipt from my last purchase made in 2009. I requested to have the same tires installed or a comparable one that was similarly priced. I had previously purchased two tires (275/55/20 117H) for about $150 ea. and expected to pay about the same price. After going outside to check the tires and the mileage of my truck, (Big O tech/sales guy) Early punched in the size and gave me a price of $193 per tire. I told him that I had paid $150 per tire (in 2009), and he replied, "...tire prices have gone up a little bit sir." I asked for a cheaper alternative but he quoted another tire that was still quite a bit more than what I was expecting, so I asked for my keys back and said I would do more research and make a decision. He then said, "...we'll match any competitor's price." Too late! I did a search on my iPhone and got a quote that was exactly where I needed it and went to that business instead. Checked the Big O website and also found tires that fit my price range, but Big O in Newark failed to provide that or any other options that fit my needs and their competitor did. read more

I fit a flat tire after running over something that looked like a razor. After waiting 3 hours for AAA to come change it, I was exhausted. I first went to Newark Tire Center, who told me my tire needed to be replaced And tried to sell me some brand I'd never heard of. I then went to Big-O. Christian was wonderful. He told me he take a look at the inside the tire to see if it could be repaired. Just before closing, he called and let me know the tire was fixed! He even stayed open a little late and had his staff put it back on. Needless to say, he saved me a ton of money and provided great service. What else can one ask for? Quoted price over the phone was different than price when I took my car in for tire replacement and alignment lasted only for 2 months even though I took my car back to be re-aligned. Price is higher than Costco and customer service is average. Update 3/3/2016 They sold 50,000 miles tire, but told me it would last for 100,000 miles. Now at 25,000 miles, 70% the treads are gone. It is very bad practice for any business lying to their customer! Well, they can make money out their clients once, but no one will never come back. Bye, bye Big O Tires! They have quickly become one of the places I dread most now days. They are worse than going to the dealer. Some of the staff need more customer service training because it's obvious they don't know how to be kind or even listen to a customer. The wait here is ridiculous. I needed a tire and had gone to a few stores around where I live but nobody had them. The shops that did were charging way more than what i thought was reasonable. I finally called Big O in Newark and Ron was very helpful and provided me the utmost excellent customer service I received in a very long time in any type of industry. He did have the product and it was at a much cheaper price than the other competitors. I got to the shop maybe 15 minutes later and again Ron was very professional and helpful and got the tire change done all in 10 minutes! No exaggeration, 10 minutes is all it took for them to put my car into the shop, change the tire, and be out the door! They have a very efficient auto team working here! Also I was with my kids at the time who were causing trouble so that helped out immensely I was able to get in and out quick. Additionally, I was surprised they offer insurance on your existing tires that you may have bought from another store uninsured. I didnt go with the deal but I did like the fact it was available. All in all an excellent experience. I do like the fact that some people like Ron know that Good Customer Service goes a long way especially with a new customer to Big O tires such as myself. Although this is somewhat a further drive for me than other Big O tires around where I live, I will definitely be a returning customer at this Newark location. That is it for me. So I took the car to Big O in Newark. They treated me like a real customer, did the estimate, did the brake job in the time and price quoted and even gave me a senior discount. Pros: Got the tires I wanted, they price matched, and at the lowest price. Cons: Got charged me $20 for nitrogen fill that I didn't ask for. The tires weren't well balanced when I left the shop. Update: Went back to the shop. They took care of the tire balance. No charge. Smooth as glass now. Despite the tire balance hiccup, they fixed it. In the end, I got the tires I wanted for a good price, they fixed the issue, and now I'm happy. If you get new tires, be sure to tell them no nitrogen. It's not an upgrade, and doesn't help your tires in anyway. Unless, you drive the space shuttle or the SR-71 Black Bird, it's useless. Update 7/29/10 - Took my car back due to a slow leak due to a screw that punctured it. They happily fixed it, and balanced and rotated the tires (it was due), and at no charge. read more

Took my car in for new tires and alignment thinking everything would be fine. Got my car back and about a 4 days later I noticed my tie rods were bent and the boots were cracked to hell along with power steering fluid everywhere I just had 2 different state inspection done to the car everything was fine before I took the car there. I came back and ask them to fix that and they said that's impossible and that they would an another warranty since the alignment after they so called aligned it was worse then before they did that. I have records stating that someone checked out everything okay and after they touched my car these problems arised from them working on it. Leaks and steering problems don't come over time and these are bad they don't just spring up over night. I am not happy. I am a mechanic myself I work on differentials for race cars and off roading vehicles. They treated me like they don't ever mess anything up that's impossible. Take creditably for your actions and stop acting like the problems you caused weren't touched by your mechanic when he was working on that area of the car. Thanks for nothing. read more

These guys do not disappoint. I needed new tires for my truck so I did my Internet research before coming here. They didn't have the tire that I wanted but Brady was able to order it and price-match the best price I could find! And to top it off, I was able to get this all done over the phone! So the tires arrive the next morning (talk about fast!) are installed, have an oil change, and also a wheel alignment which I knew needed to be done as my truck was pulling to the left. This place is the absolute worst! I went in for an oil change and got a call saying my brake pads were metal to metal and needed to be changed. And that they would do so for $400! I took advice from people around me and they said they will take a look. When I got someone I know to open up the car and take a look there was about half of my brake pads left. How dare they do that to someone!! I'm blown away by how dishonest they were. I also heard someone speaking to their customer over the phone saying, "if you want me to do it, I'll do if(after they asked how much, I'm assuming), otherwise come pick up your car and slams the phone!
