Took my parents there last night and we all spent the rest of the evening fighting for the bathroom. Nice place, nice staff, acceptable service and horrible food. Chicken Parm sandwich had almost no chicken, breading was a moist tan paste, grey microwaved cheese served on greasy "texas toast" (read bread from the Alamo) which was griddle fried in what i can only imagine was some form of butter. Folks had burgers which were cleary packaged, processed patties covered in so much goop and they were impossible to hold as the buns turned soggy then disintegrated into a red putty. Wish I had taken photos, but they may be to gruesome to post. I am glad my folks panic bought paper supplies at beginning of pandemic - we needed them after getting home from Big Rock. A Saturday night was so much fun! There was a band named "Shaken Not Stirred" that was pouring their heart and soul into their wonderful performance. It was a blast watching them perform in front of a hype crowd! Drinks were good, seating was a bit rough. And yes the bathrooms are as cool as everyone has mentioned! Seriously takes you into a another rock dimension. I stayed a while and took a tour of the stalls, sinks, and the tv that airs the dance floor, live! Overall awesome spot! We had an AMAZING time! The ambiance is great, staff phenomenal, and Taliece is our favorite. As it gets later in the evening, it definitely is an adult feel, but they are kid friendly. This makes it awesome from a family perspective to come and enjoy great food and drinks with the kids, feel like you're having an awesome night out, and then head out before it moves into an adult only crowd type of feeling. The ambience is loud enough that the kids are not a bother, but considering how great the staff is with kids in general, the kids menu, and all the extra goodies. It's really hard for your kids not to have just as much fun as you. The pizzas are a little too cheesy for our liking, but still delicious. We lean towards the Poké nachos and sandwiches. no matter what all of the sauces they offer make each dish absolutely delicious. If you have room for dessert, we definitely recommend the bread pudding. read more

One of the best places in the valley All the thought and artistic design with rock & roll memorabilia from entrance to bathroom break to exit is a live visual experience and very much appreciated by this hippy rocker chick. I've been here with live music & cover bands back in the "good ol days" all the way to ordering take out consistently throughout quarantine restrictions b/c I am just trying to support local businesses so they are still here when the handcuffs come off. This restaurant has been consistent even throughout this very trying time. I appreciate them so much for working hard and providing a wonderful meal on days/nights when we just need to be fed. We asked my father in law where he wanted to eat for his birthday and he said Big Rock. I had no idea what that was. Then he said it's on the corner of Westward Ho and Jefferson. I always pass thru there but didn't even know this place existed! Man! How long has this place been here!? Hubby and I go out of town to find unique restaurants and all the while there was this, right under our noses. The hospitality was very warm and welcoming. From the moment we walk in, we were greeted with a smile, seated with a smile and served with a smile. Our server (gosh I can't remember her name at the moment. I'll dig for my receipt later and update this) was very attentive to our needs. She was on the ball and she was friendly. She checked in on us from time to time and made sure our cups were full. I don't know how she picked up on it, but at the end of our email, she brought out birthday dessert for my father in law. That was a great touch to end our evening. The atmosphere seemed very fun and friendly. The design, layout and decor flowed well and purposeful. Down to the bathroom counter, Big rock is very detailed and music driven. The noise level was pretty loud. I don't know if that was due to the football game, or if it's normally that loud. My hubby, father in law and son loved their food. Personally, I didn't enjoy mine as much as I would have hoped. I bought a starter "Papa's gotta brand new bag", but it came out with our meals. I felt like the caraway cream (that tasted more like tzatziki sauce) overpowered the dish. I found myself wiping off the sauce and dipping the fingerling in ketchup instead (and I don't like ketchup one bit.) My entree was the November Range. The organic turkey meatloaf was very dense! Oh gosh. Prepare to get stuffed on this alone! lol If you liked mashed yams, you may like the mashed yams. I'm not fan. I know you may think, then why would you buy this?? Why, the greens of course! The greens were on point and I liked the gibblet gravy. There was no date/apple compote on my plate, unless it was in my yams. :\ The reason I didn't mark this a 5 star is because they didn't have Tabasco sauce, the yams were a bit too sweet and the caraway cream thru off the dish for me. But, I can definitely say I will be back to try more of their menu and to enjoy the atmosphere. So, definitely give this place a try and see for yourself. read more

My husband and I went for lunch today and I ordered my favorite, chicken quesadillas and he ordered nachos. Both were not what we expected. The chicken on the quesadilla was chopped so tiny there was no texture and the tortilla was fried and saturated in grease. The nachos had "beer cheese" on them which wasn't actually cheese but some kind of fake milky stuff. This was our go to place for yummy food but we'll never go back. read more

Last nights visit to Big Rock was my second time there. On the first visit, it was just me and my daughter. We heard about this place and wanted to check it out, so we went for a late lunch. We loved it the second we walked in, there was so much to look at, coolness all around from the moment you get to the front door. They weren't very busy when we got there, but by the time we left it had really picked up. We got a table right away, and then came Thomas, who is seriously the best food server on the planet. SO much personality, so kind, interesting, funny, and professional. He knew the menu perfectly, and he helped us pick drinks we would like (we got the Paradise City and a Raspberry Mule, both excellent.) My daughter got the club sandwich and I got the burger, and both were really good. Fries were hot and crispy, everything was fresh, and we were happy. Did I mention Thomas? He is awesome. :) Last night, we went back (this is two months later) and brought two friends from out of town. We walked in the front door, and there was Thomas, who remembered us right away (!!!) and said "Hey, you're back and you brought friends! Your table is available!" and he took us back to the table we sat at last time. He also remembered my and my daughter's drink order (how does he do that?) and went out of his way to meet and welcome our friends. I have never had such great service, even at the most expensive restaurants. It was a HUGE deal that he understood what a casein allergy is, knew exactly what to look for, and what my daughter's boyfriend could and couldn't have. NO ONE DOES THIS. EVER. It's usually such a big deal when we go out to eat, but Thomas made it a non-issue. He went into the freezer to read the ingredients and made sure the BF would be okay. Our orders- two club sandwiches with fries, and two cedar plank salmons with spinach and fingerling potatoes. One side of roasted Brussell sprouts, one Paradise City cocktail, and one...wait for it...RASPBERRY BERET cocktail, which was the name I suggested for the Raspberry Mule the last time I came in. Now they have one on the menu. I gotta say, I felt pretty special. :) The food last night was REALLY good. The clubs were great like always, with good quality sourdough toast, turkey, bacon, and super yummy garlic aioli. Solid choice. But the cedar plank salmon, Brussell sprouts, and spinach and potatoes were EXCELLENT. Top-notch. The restaurant was moderately busy, and everyone at the other tables seemed to be happy and having a great time. And I have to mention that after we ordered, Thomas told us his shift was over and he was going home and was going to introduce our new server. He saw how disappointed we were, and asked the manager if he could stay and take care of our table. On a Sunday night, he stayed. For us. We made sure to tell his manager what a gem he is. Thanks to Thomas, the service here is as much of a draw as anything. Needless to say, we will be back. Good music, great food, awesome service, cool environment/ambiance, what's not to like? A waitress took over got us a table and got us started. My drink was good. My friends had no alcohol. So we ordered food. Flat bread meat pizza, elote and edamame. Food was delivered. Big Rock Pub is exactly what the desert needed and being a huge rock and roll fan it was a dream come true to have this location 10 minutes away from where I stay. Visually like most people said it's a 5! The decor is on point, it's like a more badass Hard Rock Cafe. The owner put his own personal guitar collection and memorabilia into this place and it's fantastic! It's my home away from home kind of bar that I always dreamed could be successful in the desert especially after all of the hype around "old-chella". Restaurant was clean, plenty of seating, a nice bar, and again visually impressive. Unfortunately a lot of the positives end there. I'd have to agree with a lot of people and say the food is so so, service was not that great, and prices can be a bit high for what you get. Food: 3 stars. Some hits and misses. I really loved the salmon poke but for $14 it's just too small of a serving size, I get fresh fish is expensive but for how delicious it is it's just too small to justify the price. Also the calamari was good but the mustard like dipping sauce we all agreed was a bit weird and didn't compliment the calamari well, an aioli of some sort would have been better. Otherwise the menu is so so, seemed to have enough options but somehow we didn't see much that looked wonderful. My dad enjoyed the sliders and wedge salad so there were some hits. I think stick to the happy hour appetizer menu to get more bang for your buck, otherwise everything was a bit pricey. Drink menu is fantastic in terms of cool names and interesting cocktails. Being a huge GNR fan I went with the "November rain". It was a yummy cocktail for sure but for $10 and being in a small glass, again it didn't seem worth the price, now give me it in a tall glass it'd be worth it. Their beers are good though and cheap so that'll work for me. Lastly, a little disappointed in the service. Sat for a good 10 minutes before we were even acknowledged and the restaurant was barley half full. The manager was nice, friendly, and raved about his servers but unfortunately it was ironic they didn't do him justice and it seemed strange how slow moving everyone was despite the manager being there and being so attentive towards all of the guests. Even getting our check at the end took ages, they seemed to be staffed pretty well actually I don't know if it was just a slow waitress or if they just aren't on top of things here because reading other reviews I noticed complaints on service. Overall I'd give this place another shot. I love the atmosphere & happy hour menu did have a lot to choose from all under $10. If service can improve I'd give this place a solid 4 stars. I'll just keep exploring the menu because I really want to love this place. read more
